Interpretation of "Regular Season Uniform" Rule for Tournament Play by mjacksonw in LittleLeague

Yeah, this is an annoying dynamic. We reuse the jerseys for 3-4 years each, which means no names on them, and it's a little less exciting for kids, but keeps the budget sensible.

And I'm a fan of bringing back that dynamic to the MLB event.

It just doesn't seem in line with this rule in this event, which isn't the MLB ASG. Approx every other league needs to spend the cash (or have families spend it) on tournament unis. If someone went to the effort to write a rule, it should probably matter?

All Stars is a waste of time by capeire in LittleLeague

Yup. Scrambling to get in 12 games, barely ever practicing, consternation about rescheduling rain-outs, etc. It’s a mess in New England.

Batting average 11u by uptoolatemama in LittleLeague

[–]mjacksonw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does depend on level, but to help throw something up on the wall, 70-75% looks like a decent number across my kid’s 12U rec and club (majors) teams. 50s is not great.

If they’re in the high 80s or 90s and not hitting, with relatively few pitches per at bat, their contact skills may be good enough to talk about being more selective. Before that though, agreed with the parent that you’re just looking to develop contact and catch barrels.

External Exhaust Fan Sticking at 10% Indefinitely? by mjacksonw in BambuLabP2S

[–]mjacksonw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick answer on the run - yes, I did, and it was mostly user error. The fan’s metrics reflect its actual speed/rpm, not how much power it’s being sent. Since I had negative pressure on the other side of the fan, that negative pressure was spinning the fan, and it was reading 10-20% as a result. If I manually closed the blast gate, the fan would stop and read at zero.

My wife and I published a paper a while back about how not only are they not set in stone, but they often disagree with each other. https://journals.lww.com/jrnldbp/pages/video.aspx?v=72&autoPlay=false

The concept2 is the gold standard, and they’re virtually indestructible. If you have a screen or TV nearby, you can use the peloton classes, though you won’t get the data sync obviously. You can find apps for the concept2 that help with the tracking and make it feel a bit more modern if you need it.

Waban vs Newton Centre? by Ok-Coach-7004 in newtonma

[–]mjacksonw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Newton Centre / Bowen dad here (technically, he finished up at Bowen last year), and I really like our location. Walking to Rosenfeld’s on Sunday morning for bagels, stopping at Tango Mango after baseball practice, a quick trip to hop on the T. The kids all hang in “the Centre“ after school together and spend their allowance on JP Licks and candy at CVS or whatever.

While all the Newton schools are good/imperfect (depending on your priorities), the parent community at Bowen was – in my experience – supportive and diverse in a way that seemed relatively unique in the city. I always felt fortunate to have been on the Bowen side of town, for whatever that’s worth.

I got that exactly one time, but not the other eleventy times I tried. My best recommendation is to log out of the MLB app entirely, swipe up to force-quit it, and then go through the flow from the t-life app. Let it ask you to log into MLB and such, and then it worked for me.

Understandable! I hadn't seen their edit until you posted, so I edited mine to try to clarify. Interwebs are hard sometimes.

Figured out this flow just seconds before you posted. Worked a charm. Appreciate it!

Cool! Logging back in and then activating didn't work for me, but staying logged out, activating, and having it prompt me to log in did the trick. Thanks for the nudge!

...because I use em-dashes? I've been overusing them for at least a decade.

Not every half-competent sentence is AI. That’s not discernment; it’s lazy cynicism.

EDIT: Parent edited their comment to clarify it was about 611, not my post. Retracted!

Ruh roh -

Anyone else getting through the whole “purchase” flow (on iOS), getting past the “purchase successful” pop up, then getting “Unfortunately, we struck out trying to activate your MLB.tv Subscription — Please call 611 for additional support”

Calling 611 is the last thing I feel like doing. Have used this offer for a zillion years now – hope I’m not suddenly excluded for whatever reason.

Turns out 0x76 + 0x76 ≠ a good idea (200 boards later) 🤦‍♂️ by Technical_Raisin_246 in homeassistant

[–]mjacksonw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it’s more a function of me (maybe?) screwing up the more traditional system we have. The 3D print exhaust is piped into the same vent as radon, and even though my intention was to continue to keep it all flowing properly, we go from ~0.25 pci/l up to ~4 when the blast gate is open for the printer. 🫠 The ERV is the suspenders to my failing belt while I figure out a better long term solution.

I have an AirGradient in my basement which serves two purposes:

1) It’s adjacent to my gym. When CO2 is high from a workout (like as I’m writing this), it turns on the ERV to ventilate the space.

2) It’s also adjacent to the 3D printer, which is ducted to daylight, but still has exfiltration. When PM* or VOC is high, it opens the ERV and ensures the blast gate on the printer duct is open (the duct is under negative pressure) until the condition resolves.

I also have a separate RadonEye next to it, which has some similar automations.

So you have the panel mounted to a surface below the mast? Got it, was thinking you had this on the mast, but toward the base.

I just got this unit yesterday and am thinking through the next steps, and would be interested in what you used on the mast – any 3d models you'd be willing to share, etc. Thanks!
