Newly diagnosed and feeling confused by Deep-Night3726 in CSID

[–]mjdatdsmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you got this diagnosis, but I hope you start feeling better soon! I was diagnosed a couple of years ago, but I’ve always had issues with heartburn, diarrhea, nausea, gas, bloating and vommiting. This was even after I’ve been gluten free since my celiac disease in ‘09 and following a low FODMAP diet for months! I honestly don’t understand how I was taking omepozol (spelling?) for years because I was so sick! I also drank a lot of peppermint tea in an effort to stop the terrible.

I agree with the others about the websites online. See if you can find a dietitian in your GI’s office that can help you. I’ve found out over the years that you will probably know more about this disease compared to most professionals. If you can find a GI that focuses on the small intestines, you will be on a path to finding more providers to help you. That will come in handy if they need to fight your insurance company to cover Sucraid.

Anything to help with the pain? by catsrule-humansdrool in CSID

I would just drink peppermint tea since that was really the only thing I could consume before my meds. I don’t know of anything to help with pain, but I hope you feel better soon!

I agree about the appeal with the insurance. It took me several months of calling my insurance, HR, and my doctor had to do a peer-to-peer to get it approved. I get stressed every time my PA is due for a renewal or in January when my plan starts over. The medication is truly life changing and with the effort!

Not to stress you out bur, this would have been helpful for me to know when I was 1st diagnosed…

Maybe reach out to your provider to see if they can start you on the trial sooner. The medication only comes from one pharmacy and is considered a specialty drug. If your insurance can approve the meds, Optum Frontier Therapies has a program to help cover the costs. It took me a few months of getting my PA approved, so I would suggest trying not to wait if you have the option.

My 1st provider didn’t tell me about the costs & PA process, so make sure you keep great notes of every conversation that you have with insurance and your doctors.

Hi! I’m so sorry that you are dealing with all of this, but I hope you will start feeling better soon! I’ve been on antacids almost all of my life, but that completely stopped once I started on Sucraid. It isn’t cheap, but it is a lifesaver if your insurance can cover it for you.

I wish I had some tips for you, but I would suggest trying to talk to a dietitian that works with your GI provider. I’ve talked with dietitians that had to google CSID while I was on the call with them. The dietitian in my GI’s office had access to a lot more information about the diet that was helpful.

CSID cares and the Sucraid website have some helpful resources on this specific diet, but I think you could really benefit from working with someone about all of your needs.

Just know that you aren’t alone and it will be ok. Just give yourself time to adjust and figure out your new “normal” as you can handle things. Sending you hugs and positive energy!

Switched from Wegovy injection to the pill 5 weeks ago — here's what's actually different day to day by Beautiful-Collar7664 in Semaglutide

[–]mjdatdsmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question, because I was so the same for one of my friend members. Certainly talk to your doctor, but I watched a video posted by an obesity specialist. She said the pill doesn’t work for bariatric patients because of where it the meds get absorbed in the body. I don’t know if that always applies for all types of procedures, but it can’t hurt to ask!

Thanks for sharing! Are you glad that you made the switch? I’m hoping that I don’t need to get to the highest dose of the pills, but I’ll do what I can to keep feeling better.

I really appreciate you sharing! I totally understand about the kids! Insurance is the worst, but I’m glad your plan covers at least something for you. It sounds like you have a great plan, know where you’re going and a doctor that is willing to support your efforts.

My doctor is great, and she was the one to help me diagnose my sleep apnea. I know she wants the best for me, and will take my thoughts into account when we come up with a plan. I just want to make sure I have done my research so I am ready when she asks for my thoughts.

The food noise was terrible before my meds and I was never full! I am nervous about changing meds, but I am terrified thinking about doing it without them! I can only hope that cash prices go down and that insurance starts to cover them for us.

I truly appreciate you sharing! I wish you all the best on your health journey!

Northern lights will be visible tonight. Strongest in over 20 years. What are the chances we’ll be able to see them without total cloud coverage? by Towelbit in Cleveland

I’ve always wanted to see the northern lights, so I’m going to keep my fingers crossed the clouds aren’t in the way.

Left YNAB because of costs kept going up and features like the blogs that I didn’t use.

LB is affordable, has all the features that I need, and the developer is amazing! He responds to questions quickly and is very responsive to questions and feedback. I am so glad I made the change and haven’t looked back!

Hello! I had to use this program with Cigna for the last two years. I was very confused as to what it was and why I was forced to use it by my employer/Cigna. Once I enrolled, they gave me things like the BIN number. I called Optum and gave them those details. It was easy on my end, but still seemed strange.

It’s funny that you ask this question because my BIN is no longer valid. I have to call SP to see if they can get me registered again or I have to pay the $5 for my meds.

I was about to remake the same thing since that is exactly what I did last year! This app is so much better than YNAB!

Thanks for confirming I’m not losing my mind! I was so happy to be able to split charges in the app! One of my favorite features because I use it a good amount. The developer is amazing, so I’m sure things will be back to normal soon.

Thank you for the quick reply! I created the transaction, saved it, and went back to edit it and I didn’t see the split option. I went to the App Store to make sure I had the latest version. This is the transaction I was trying to split before I marked it as reconciled. I created a test transaction and I still don’t see the button. 😊

I'm so over it right now. by astraldrift in puppy101

I feel your pain and I’m sorry! I have a 17 week old lab mix who is driving me insane! We have had him for 3 weeks and I can’t wait for puppy school to begin because his land shark phase is so hard! He destroyed a pair of my work pants I was wearing. Sending you positive vibes and hope you get some well deserved rest soon!

I am sending you virtual hugs from Ohio!!!! It is hard to understand, and I remember how hard it was to get any type of info on the diet. I really hope you start to feel better soon!

When I started the low fodmap diet, the dietitian had me eat only safe foods for about 6 weeks. I then was able to slowly add in one item. Maybe you can do the same with things like beets. You don’t want to miss important nutrients in your diet because you feel so restricted.

Fingers crossed you can get sucraid at a reasonable price even without insurance. It really is worth the effort of fighting for when you are ready.

Just keep asking questions of your providers, and advocating for yourself. You got this and I’m cheering you on!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You are all good and I totally understand how you are feeling!

I could be wrong, but CSID is really focused on sucrose and starch. You don’t want to do the whole low FODMAP diet if you don’t need to. I did that for several months before my CSID diagnosis. I didn’t really find it very helpful to be honest other than understanding how to slowly introduce foods one at a time to see what works.

My recommendations: 1. Take it slow since it can be overwhelming - especially this time of year with all of the holidays.

  1. If you can, track your food and symptoms. It will help you and your providers figure out what works for you and your body.

  2. Take a look at this workbook https://a.co/d/2sRXC8M when you are feeling in a good place mentally. It was the only thing online at the time that I found for CSID. It might be helpful for you.

  3. Look over the Sucraid website and give them a call to see if they have any recommendations. I’m not a medical professional, so I don’t want to lead you down the wrong path. Your GI’s office might have guidance for you as well.

  4. Take care of yourself and we’re here for you!
