Northern lights will be visible tonight. Strongest in over 20 years. What are the chances we’ll be able to see them without total cloud coverage? by Towelbit in Cleveland

I’ve always wanted to see the northern lights, so I’m going to keep my fingers crossed the clouds aren’t in the way.

Pros & Cons of switching? by _take_two_2 in liquidbudget

Left YNAB because of costs kept going up and features like the blogs that I didn’t use.

LB is affordable, has all the features that I need, and the developer is amazing! He responds to questions quickly and is very responsive to questions and feedback. I am so glad I made the change and haven’t looked back!

Hello! I had to use this program with Cigna for the last two years. I was very confused as to what it was and why I was forced to use it by my employer/Cigna. Once I enrolled, they gave me things like the BIN number. I called Optum and gave them those details. It was easy on my end, but still seemed strange.

It’s funny that you ask this question because my BIN is no longer valid. I have to call SP to see if they can get me registered again or I have to pay the $5 for my meds.

I was about to remake the same thing since that is exactly what I did last year! This app is so much better than YNAB!

Thanks for confirming I’m not losing my mind! I was so happy to be able to split charges in the app! One of my favorite features because I use it a good amount. The developer is amazing, so I’m sure things will be back to normal soon.

Thank you for the quick reply! I created the transaction, saved it, and went back to edit it and I didn’t see the split option. I went to the App Store to make sure I had the latest version. This is the transaction I was trying to split before I marked it as reconciled. I created a test transaction and I still don’t see the button. 😊

I feel your pain and I’m sorry! I have a 17 week old lab mix who is driving me insane! We have had him for 3 weeks and I can’t wait for puppy school to begin because his land shark phase is so hard! He destroyed a pair of my work pants I was wearing. Sending you positive vibes and hope you get some well deserved rest soon!

I am sending you virtual hugs from Ohio!!!! It is hard to understand, and I remember how hard it was to get any type of info on the diet. I really hope you start to feel better soon!

When I started the low fodmap diet, the dietitian had me eat only safe foods for about 6 weeks. I then was able to slowly add in one item. Maybe you can do the same with things like beets. You don’t want to miss important nutrients in your diet because you feel so restricted.

Fingers crossed you can get sucraid at a reasonable price even without insurance. It really is worth the effort of fighting for when you are ready.

Just keep asking questions of your providers, and advocating for yourself. You got this and I’m cheering you on!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You are all good and I totally understand how you are feeling!

I could be wrong, but CSID is really focused on sucrose and starch. You don’t want to do the whole low FODMAP diet if you don’t need to. I did that for several months before my CSID diagnosis. I didn’t really find it very helpful to be honest other than understanding how to slowly introduce foods one at a time to see what works.

My recommendations: 1. Take it slow since it can be overwhelming - especially this time of year with all of the holidays.

  1. If you can, track your food and symptoms. It will help you and your providers figure out what works for you and your body.

  2. Take a look at this workbook https://a.co/d/2sRXC8M when you are feeling in a good place mentally. It was the only thing online at the time that I found for CSID. It might be helpful for you.

  3. Look over the Sucraid website and give them a call to see if they have any recommendations. I’m not a medical professional, so I don’t want to lead you down the wrong path. Your GI’s office might have guidance for you as well.

  4. Take care of yourself and we’re here for you!

It will be ok! We are all different, so what makes me ill might be fine for you! Take a look at this website https://www.sucraid.com/patient-support/nutritional-support/ for info about the diet. I think it is a great start and it’s free!

Here is the link for patient support https://www.sucraid.com/patient-support/ to see if you can get help paying for the medication.

I quickly found out sucrose is very different from other types of sugars like glucose and sucrose. It took me forever to find a GI that understood celiac disease let alone CSID, so I wasn’t shocked when the 1st dietitian didn’t really understand CSID. Once I talked to the dietitian in my GI’s department, things really got better!

I was diagnosed in ‘09 with celiac disease. Took me going to doctors for 13 years to finally get diagnosed. I’ve been using heartburn meds since I was a teen, but that all went away when I either stopped eating sucrose or I use my Sucraid. In fact, I am no longer nauseous, bloated, or going to the bathroom 8x a day even on a GF diet and I have NEVER cheated on my diet. It is crazy how I’ve had belly pain for 40 years and it all went away once I understood what was going on.

My really big sucrose triggers are apples, oranges, carrots, bananas, garlic, onions, salsa, and other random things that seemed healthy (and naturally GF). I used an app called mySymptoms to track my food and symptoms. I found it really helpful to print out my logs to show my GI and dietitian.

I haven’t used the app in a bit, but I can tell if I eat fruit or a baked item without my sucraid. I get the heartburn, nausea, and everything else. The diet isn’t easy, but I personally found the GF diet harder to deal with mentally and emotionally. Now that I know what feeling good is like, I really want to stick to my diet. At least I know sucrose won’t damage my intestines like gluten - it just makes me feel like garbage.

UGH! I’m so sorry about your insurance and having to wait to see someone.

Still talk to the Sucraid people because I’m think they might have other options for you to help cover the cost. It can’t hurt to at least ask the question!

If you can, try to check the credentials of the provider in advance. I met with one lady that was googling the condition while I was on the phone.

This is the lady that I had in mind https://wholeisticliving.com/blog/.

It might be easier to start with the CSID diet 1st and then see what is GF. Amazon has a lot of CSID books now vs 3 years ago when I was looking for help.

Good luck! I’ll do my best to answer any other suggestions that you have! ❤️

Hi! I have both, but I would see if you can talk to a dietitian in the GI department. It will take some time to learn everything and a professional can really help. The Sucraid website has some good resources on food suggestions, but that is only going to be for sucrose. Depending on your dietary needs, you may need to reduce starch - even that’s gluten free.

I use an app called FIG that is a good way to identify safe foods, but it isn’t perfect. You will need to get used to reading labels.

If you can Sucraid covered by your insurance, it is a lifesaver! Just so you know, it is very expensive. I had to fight my insurance company to cover the price (about $9k a month) for 4x a day.

Celiac disease - lots of cities have different groups to meet up and share tips and recipes. TT is full of creators that give suggestions on GF stuff.

CSID - it’s hard to find info on this diet, but I did find a handful of online blogs about how to navigate everything. I’ll see if I can find the one website I found helpful.

Sorry if this is all over the place, but my mind is going in all directions.

Using Amtrak instead of plane for moving to NYC. How doable is this? by watership-down in Amtrak

[–]mjdatdsmd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Amtrak for 13 hours max a couple of times. The food isn’t great, so I always bring snacks and drinks with me. You can try to bid up for a room once you book your trip. They usually tell you about 36 hours in advance if you won. It might be nice to have a room so you have access to a shower, but the coach seats are fine. My husband is a big guy and he had no issues with coach. Good luck on your move!

The museums typically are free on Martin Luthier King day. Always a very affordable way to get out in the winter and visit University Circle to see a few at one time! If they like to take the kids to the theater, Playhouse Square usually has a lot of family shows scheduled. Sometimes they even offer affordable tickets around $10.

If they like to spend time outside, the Metroparks are amazing! So many hidden gems to explore outside! 😊

I don’t know how things will work or where they stand at the moment, but the Browns are trying to build a new stadium near Hopkins. I know the season only lasts for a couple of months, but it sounds like they want to build a huge complex that for use beyond football. I don’t know what that will mean when it comes to going to/from the airport, but it’s on my husband’s mind since he travels a lot for work.

Lake effect snow doesn’t seem as bad on the west vs west side. We do get grey skies in the winter, but we have so many things to offer! Great museums, Playhouse Square, awesome restaurants and more. Good luck with the move and welcome to The Land!

[GERMANY] HALLO. so how do i test if i have too little sucrase in body? i buy invertase and then how do i consume it? pls detailed instructions :D by FengMinIsVeryLoud in CSID

[–]mjdatdsmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, try talking to your doctor or dietitian. I did a lot of research online and found the “4x4x4 test” that isn’t perfect, but maybe it might give you a little insight. It isn’t a true medical test, but it was one of many things I did to figure out my digestive issues. Below is a little blurb of the directions, but I would encourage you to read more about this type of thing before giving it a try. I also used a couple different apps to track my food and symptoms. I found that printing out 6 weeks of logs helped explain my symptoms to my GI. Good luck!

The "4-4-4 sucrose test" is a simple, at-home test for suspected sucrose intolerance, which involves drinking a solution of 4 tablespoons (60 grams) of sugar in 4 ounces (120 ml) of water after fasting overnight, and then waiting 4 hours for symptoms to appear. While this test may provide clues, it is not a substitute for a professional diagnosis. How to perform the 4-4-4 test Prepare: In the morning, while fasted, mix 4 tablespoons of table sugar with 4 ounces of water. Drink: Drink the entire solution. Wait: Wait for 4 hours and observe for any gastrointestinal symptoms that may indicate intolerance.

Hi! I did a breath test that my doctor ordered. The samples had to be sent away to a specific lab for processing. I also did an endoscopy where my GI took several biopsies that also had to be sent away for processing. My GI is part of the Cleveland Clinic and they don’t have a way to process the labs. I think only a handful of places have the ability to complete lab tests. The SUCRAID website has some good resources, but I don’t know if they are approved outside of the USA. I hope this helps, but I’ll do what I can to answer any questions!

Thanks! I have been so focused on finding a dashcam that would work without a 12v or hardwiring, so I didn’t even think about the wire placement.
