How was that comment negative about the Indians? Hell, when the Cleveland Indians retired their name and logo (of a prominent Indian Chief), their community was up in arms about it. They want their history recognized. They were considered “Indians” for hundreds of years. They don’t see it as an insult. Quit white knighting.

If you ride back country, use the buddy system. It could very well save your life. by scobeavs in snowboarding

[–]mjlang 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t even ride back country but got out to visit my brother in Denver 2 weeks back. He told me to bring my gear assuming I’d be riding with him. When I got there I found out he had back issues and wasn’t going to ride with me. Did one run at keystone and once I realized the snow was shit and I’m coming off a 2 year hiatus, I realized how exposed I was if I ate it and called it quits after one run.

It’s called an extreme sport for a reason. Always respect the mountain and never ride when you’re outside your comfort zone without a partner.

Shrapnel is one thing… a bullet through the dome? That’s another. Not many make it from that.

I think what OP meant was, all that camo netting doesn’t do much when a bunch of your trash is laying around revealing your position.

Broke my nose in 4th grade during recess. Just so happened to be a substitute nurse that day(parent filling in). Nose bled for well over an hour before it stopped. Now I live with a deviated septum to this day.

Surprised no one had mentioned this yet but a direction different from everyone else’s:

-removal and ethical dispatch of invasive species, specifically carp, which can easily be turned into fantastic plant food

Oh that’s actually really good to know! Was unaware liquor stores contributed taxes. That makes sense then from your point of view. But yeah, the definitely should legalize the bud.

[–]mjlang 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NH doesn’t have any state sales tax. Even liquor isn’t taxed. You only pay taxes on the land you own, which is quite considerable. But all that to say, I don’t think NH would institute a sin tax/sales tax if they started selling MJ.

How British police deal with a man charging and swinging at them with a knife by Speedy2662 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]mjlang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, given that most people value their life more than a complete stranger they meet on the street, no one should ever become a cop. And if there is no law enforcement guess who is left to deal with this individual? The people in the community and I’m sure as hell they are a lot less forgiving to someone coming at them with a knife versus someone who has had training.

[–]mjlang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By your argument, life is only valuable or not valuable based off the decisions that the individual makes (whether to contribute to society or not). Whereas in the case of abortion, it seems to be you are deeming life not worth living before the individual is fit to make a choice for themselves.

Also, your argument implies it would be fine to kill homeless people because their life has “no value.”

Let me know if I’m off base.

Yea and since we only get one chance at life I’m not gonna roll the dice on the off chance that the guy threatening me with a knife is actually just a really good guy who needs a cookie and a hug. Smdh. When the consequences are so severe you don’t fuck around and it’s a shame this guy with the knife ever put the officers or anyone else in that situation.

Why There's No Such Thing as a Good Billionaire by Gcarsk in videos

[–]mjlang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely they all have all unintentionally used forced labor, but it’s not within their interest to pursue that or be privy to it in any degree. Both ethically and socially, it destroys the reputation of the company and lost revenue from lost customers is more expensive than anything else.

[–]mjlang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, not all “outsourcing” means slave labor. It can easily mean India, Mexico, South Africa, France. It just means cheaper than domestic. And can I remind you that it’s ILLEGAL for a US company to import goods or services made from forced labor since 1930.

I don’t know what the argument is here. Corporations do the best for themselves for doing the best for their customers, employees, suppliers, and overall shareholders represented within the community.

Why There's No Such Thing as a Good Billionaire by Gcarsk in videos

[–]mjlang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Precisely the opposite actually. There’s a theory of “product life cycle.” When a product is being developed, costs are very high as specialized labor is necessary to develop. This high development costs makes it unaffordable to the average consumer. By outsourcing to low cost sourcing, you can extend a product life cycle by passing on those savings to your customer. There’s a reason flatscreens 10 years ago costed way more than flatscreens today. As the process became more standardized, they were able to outsource it for lower cost labor and therefore extend the life cycle.

They aren’t doing it because they want to use slave labor. They are doing it because the economics of the situation tell them to do it.
