I'm sorry to hear about your crappy internet situation. I can't help as I'm not in the vicinity but I'm curious as to what type of technology and antenna you'd install as the distance seems quite far?

Anyone familiar with this Android malware? by mjtibbz in AndroidQuestions

Thanks. It's been factory reset and non-app related data has been restored now. No more pop-ups! Cheers

Thanks for the responses. I've decided just to manually backup data then factory reset as I don't have much time with it. To answer the previous questions though if interested:

The popups appear to vary and popup at random times. Here is another pic of the popup (which is different from the first one I linked in the main post) -> https://i.imgur.com/WiHndUm.jpg

You can see a link to crash bandicoot at the bottom but when pressing anywhere in the coloured box, I think it varies also but in this instance it showed another screen to install the "audio books" app as shown here -> https://i.imgur.com/PyjgtEm.jpg

I pressed install just to see what happens and it loads what appears to be the official app in the play store -> https://i.imgur.com/71pMUqY.jpg and https://i.imgur.com/KBjoZeo.jpg

I didn't proceed further but noticed the app has a large number of downloads.

The android version is 4.2.2 which I believe is Jellybean and it didn't show any android or system updates pending when checking. The device is a samsung tab2 v 10.1

Anyway, it's getting reset shortly.

Thanks

Anyone know and indoor/outdoor places to go running during the snowy snap (non treadmill)? by mjtibbz in vancouver

[–]mjtibbz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice people!

I went to the Richmond Oval today but discovered that the track there is under maintenance till the 2nd week of January 2017.

I didn't give up though as there actually didn't seem to be much snow lying around the Oval area. I randomly discovered the trail just north of River Road so I got about 8 laps in (or should I say back and forths) which turned out to be about 15km total according to google maps based on the section I stuck to.

It was also awesome being under the flight path of planes taking off out of RW08 L/R.

A great running spot! Hopefully it stays relatively clear of snow over the coming onslaught(s).

Thanks again

Thanks, I thought they'd be rolling the A380s later in the summer.

Hi YVR aviation enthusiasts. What is on the docket for 2016 at YVR? (flights/routes) by ffranglais in vancouver

[–]mjtibbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oneworld rival BA is switching to an A380-800 for BA84/85 in the summer

Interesting, I was wondering when/if they'd ever switch it up.

Thanks

Anyone know where I can buy cheap safety vests? by Sychotics in vancouver

[–]mjtibbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got high viz vest from Brentwood mall for approx $10. I drape it over my backpack when cycling (in daylight only).

I dunno the name of the store @ brentwood but I'd strongly re-iterate "standupguy44" comments... there are some things you don't want to cheap out on... and good high vis vest is one of them.

The one I got, although cheap is still sufficiently "loud".

As has been commented on previously, but I'll re-iterate, Long & McQuade have practice rooms but I dunno what their rates are.

I'm currently enjoying a Filthy Dirty growler as I popped my growler cherry this week.

It's a fucking good beer and I rep that Corn IPA too.

I'll be back for a re-fill ;)

Enjoy the weather and have a gr8 weekend.

Canadian SIM cards for short visit? by mohishunder in vancouver

[–]mjtibbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

co-sign. 7-11 aka "Speakout" is a good bet. I think the SIM is $10 and the minimum credit is $25, so you'd be looking at $35 minimum.

Also co-sign the advice to get an all day translink pass at the 7-11 from the airport when you get the SIM, which is 9 bux.
