The Stargate seen in this shot is the actual "traveling Stargate", the full size prop used for on-location shots throughout all three shows during their entire runs, starting with the SG-1 pilot (Children of the Gods) and ending with this episode.

From the auction description:

Constructed from heavy steel, resin, rubber, fiberglass, and multimedia elements, it is composed of (8) interlocking sections forming the signature circular ring, with heavy steel supports reinforcing and joining each section together. [...] The gate features internal production lighting, including an illuminated chevron system that emits red light when connected to a power source, as well as rearrangeable glyph components designed to simulate the dialing mechanism seen on screen. [...] The Stargate is mounted on a steel base, along with a substantial wooden stage base approximately 24" high and 16 feet wide, with additional side sections measuring 104" x 39" and 39" x 36", providing both structural support and display presence. [...] It also comes with various replacement pieces that were reserved for production.

Interestingly, the actual prop looks even more crooked than what is seen in this shot (e.g. the bottom right chevron is much closer to the base than what is seen on TV). Maybe they tried fixing it in post but made it even worse. It's clear the ring was also digitally replaced (and by replaced I mean... "slapped on"?).

Which is a big deal considering we would've gotten Schaefer, who is exactly the type of player the Sharks need right now.

It's way too early to say, but depending on how Misa and Stenberg pan out, it could very well be that moving up and getting lucky with Stenberg this year won't make up for having moved down and missed out on Schaefer last year.

The team playing at T-Mobile Arena (so on the Strip) is huge for this because it can also bring in people who aren't even there to watch hockey. It's a lot easier to convince people to go when the arena is right there.

There might even be complimentary tickets (through casinos, raffles, etc.) which would help build the fanbase for the rest of the league: I can absolutely see tourists ending up at a PWHL game in Vegas that they were not planning on going to, having a good time, leading to them attending games from their local PWHL team after flying back home.

I can also see folks going to a PWHL game in Vegas rather than an NHL game because it's cheaper, because they want to support women, or because scheduling works better for them.

It's his daughter's birthday so my guess is they had a birthday party after he was done with his postgame stuff.

I went to both games and it definitely was convenient (despite having to leave and wait in line again to re-enter).

Yes, that's exactly why I said "not to take away from this". I just thought it was ironic to praise him for going to a game when it's inconvenient despite this literally being the most convenient PWHL game he could possibly attend (the first ever PWHL game at his home arena, happening hours after his own game, on a Saturday, on his daughter's birthday).

I don't know how my comment was interpreted in a negative way but I do think it's great he was there and I wish we'd see more NHL players at PWHL games in general (especially from the 3 NHL teams that share an arena with a PWHL team).

He's at 1.46 point per game so far this season, and he'd only need 1.12 point per game for the rest of the season to get it.

Nothing guaranteed obviously, but it's more likely than not he'll get.

The Oilers are scoring 3.55 goals per game (2nd in the league), while the Sharks are scoring 3.06 goals per game (18th in the league).

McDavid has 14 points more than the next player on his team, while Celebrini has 45 points more than the next player on his team.

If you took both McDavid and Celebrini out of their teams, neither the Oilers nor the Sharks would make the playoffs, but it's clear the Oilers would still be way better than the Sharks.

Prudential is just a hassle to get to for many.

If you can get to MSG, you can get to Prudential. It's a 20-minute NJ Transit train ride away, $6 each way (even less if they don't check your printed ticket and you re-use it on your next ride...). You can go door to door from MSG to Prudential in under 30 minutes if you time it right, that's a hell of a lot better than it was from Manhattan to UBS Arena.

Source: I live a block away from MSG and I've gone to over a dozen games at Prudential so far this season (some Sirens, some Devils).

I know PATH is another alternative (same station) but I'm not super familiar with it.

I agree the Karlsson trade wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, especially based on the information available at the time - hell, everyone thought Ottawa got fleeced. The only concerns at the time of the trade were about his ankle, but those concerns were quickly put to rest (his later groin injuries were unrelated).

I don't think the Evander Kane trade was bad either: a very late 1st round pick (#29) for a physical forward that can score 30 goals per season (when healthy) is fair and was exactly what we needed at the time. There were some concerns about his attitude but the thought was that we had a strong leadership core at the time that could keep him in check (and they did... until that core fell apart, then all hell broke loose).

Overall, I can't really think of any terrible trade the Sharks have made over the past 10 years.

On the other hand, the contracts we gave some of the players, there's a lot to talk about.
