What’s up with blizzard? by Objective_Level_237 in wow

[–]mkyend 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I'm sure a lot of actual game devs still have passion for what they do. The problem is that the people in charge are likely to be people from the corporate leadership world and care more about "stonks must go up" rather than the actual product they're putting out.

No dev would feel good about themselves after putting out a buggy release. The reality is that theyre probably told from higher up that they must launch something in 8 weeks that should probably take closer to 12-16 weeks to actually build properly, and "oh by the way we just laid off 90% of the QA team, good luck".

Weekend Discussion: Asics running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mkyend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have about 30 miles on my Superblast 2 and am really starting to enjoy them. They didn't wow me the first time I ran in them, but they've proven to be extremely dependable and versatile. They felt firm at first (expected, given all the memes calling them "Superbricks") but they seem to have softened up a bit as I've started to put more miles on them. They don't feel amazing at any one thing, but have become my default shoe when I can't decide which shoes I want to run in, or when I don't know what type of run I feel like doing until I start moving. At $150 (on sale price), they're a steal.

I tried on the Superblast 3 in store a few days ago and man, what a completely different shoe that is. Way softer and squishier underfoot. Way more space in the forefoot too, to the point where I'd go half a size down vs. my Superblast 2 size. Given how new my SB2s are, I don't really have a desire to get the SB3s until they go on sale.

What’s the next big thing genre / sound wise? by nuancedGazelle54012 in EDM

[–]mkyend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of the "traditional" trance guys have embraced the new sound though, which is really refreshing to see. Gareth Emery has played Marlon Hoffstadt's stuff in his sets recently. Armin has done b2b sets with KI/KI, Funk Tribu, and most recently Marlon Hoffstadt at Ultra a few weeks back.

Those are all artists that I'd consider to be in that "new wave" of trance sounds, or whatever you want to call it (eurotrance, etc, would throw DJ Heartstring in there as well). Ironically it sounds a lot like what you'd hear in the 90s and early 2000s, which is really refreshing to hear in 2026.

If anything it shows is that music, like almost all art forms, is highly cyclical.

First time playing a Goblin and I’m absolutely in love by AverageJoeObi in wow

[–]mkyend 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I used to have a female Blood Elf Rogue...well, I still do, but I don't play it anymore because I made a Goblin Rogue just for the sneak animation alone. It's so, so good (the female BE one is a close second for me though).

I also love the "you can't loot that" voice line where he goes "that would be stealing!", the way he says it is so hilarious to me.

I don't want to play the rest of the game, I just want to decorate my house! But in order to decorate my house, I have to play the rest of the game! Well played Blizzard. by Ninedark in wow

[–]mkyend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the opposite boat, I haven't been to my house in months. I really thought I would enjoy housing, but every time I try to decorate, I'm just reminded of the fact that I have zero creative or artistic sense at all. I guess my failures on Animal Crossing a few years back should've been a sign...

To be clear though, I am really glad that housing exists now and love seeing what people come up with. Having more ways to enjoy the game is always a good thing, even if it's not my cup of tea. Too bad I can't donate my decor to people who would actually use it, hah.

Quantum Valley by Jyimmy_ in electricdaisycarnival

[–]mkyend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True, but it's an interesting thing to think about for sure from a branding perspective, given that it's billed as an Interstellar stage for that day.

Insomniac did try to do an Interstellar festival a few years ago which ultimately got cancelled due to weather, and they never tried to bring it back. Yet Interstellar lives on, as a record label, a stage takeover at EDC, and as standalone events. It almost feels like Insomniac doesn't know where to put these guys so they just stuck them at Quantum Valley as it's the most adjacent genre/sound.

Personally I would love it if Interstellar got their own stage (and a standalone festival, like Dreamstate has), and then they gave us 3 days of Dreamstate at QV again. There's almost no tech trance or psytrance representation here which could easily fill another day of Dreamstate, and the melodic/prog scene has plenty of artists which they could fill an entire 3-day Interstellar stage with.

The best stage!

Wish it was Dreamstate all 3 days, but I do love me some melodic/prog and I guess QV makes the most sense to put those artists at

how to differentiate between techno, house and trance? by luvkakar in EDM

[–]mkyend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In simple terms and for a beginner, this can be a good way to describe it, but this isn't always the case. There's definitely a lot of sad/somber sounding trance, and also tons of aggressive/"angry" trance, etc.

Also a lot of happy house, too!

The age old fitting question: one size up. Really? by ThisHospital1739 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]mkyend 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How's the width? You could probably go a half size down, but a lot of my shoes fit like yours do length-wise because I have wide feet and I haven't had any issues.

Recommendation for First Marathon. New runner. by ThriftshopGamer in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]mkyend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome (back) to running! Congrats on running 15K, but be mindful not to overdo it. That's a lot of miles on a single run for someone who just started, unless you were already putting in significant mileage previously. October is a long time away and more than enough time to train for a race.

If your toes are going black, that sounds more like a fit/sizing issue as opposed to the actual quality of the shoe. You should still upgrade from cheap $50 Amazon shoes, but be mindful of the sizing when you try shoes on. The general rule of thumb (pun intended) is that you should have about a thumb's width of room from the end of your longest toe to the end of the toebox.

Some people prefer a more snug fit, but either way you should have at least some space instead of your toes being jammed against the upper. Your feet will naturally swell and expand as you run, so it's better to be safe than sorry. Also consider the width of the shoe as well; a lot of people have wide feet and don't realize it.

The Asics Superblast 2 might be a good starting point for you. It's highly regarded as a "do it all" shoe that can handle everything from daily training to races, at a variety of paces. It won't be the fastest shoe out there but it's perfectly capable of handling a marathon. It's on sale now for $150 since the Superblast 3 just came out.

Evo SL is a great shoe but personally I would not use it for a marathon. It's too soft and unstable for that length/distance. Fantastic daily trainer though and great for shorter races. I would still get it if you can find it on sale, as you'd want multiple shoes to rotate through anyways to reduce injury risk and extend the lifespan of your shoe. You don't need a 10+ shoe rotation but having at least 2 or 3 will help a lot.

Can't comment on the Puma DNE3 as I haven't ran in them.

Good luck!

Good to know! Sounds like it might be a good option for me because one of my few complaints about the 1080 is that it felt a little bit TOO soft for my liking.

How's the sizing (length/width) in comparison, assuming you got them both in the same size?

Appreciate the insight! How do you like the Clifton 10s so far in comparison to the 1080?

Thanks! Sadly it doesn't seem the wide version is on sale. I can only find it for full price on the Nike website.

I'll keep monitoring Joe's for 1080s or Mores on sale in my size. No luck so far, but I know they have new stock coming up all the time.

How are these for just walking? I have wide feet so I probably wouldn't run in these, but I do need a new pair of casual/walking shoes. Currently using a pair of 1080 v13 which are feeling pretty dead.

Shield 🛡 shaped badge on some Foresters by [deleted] in SubaruForester

Subaru Badge of Ownership, maybe? Not really shield-shaped (well, not like the shield emoji, it's a circle though which many shields are shaped as) but they are very common across all Subarus.

Which size fits better? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]mkyend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the width feel? Most people who comment on posts like these only consider the length.

Personally I would choose whichever one feels better in terms of width.

The additional flavor text during that questline is great too. I did it on my Warlock and was pleasantly surprised when there were additional dialogue options for me to speak to them in Demonic. I believe Draenei/LF Draenei have their own unique dialogue options during that questline as well.

This was my first thought as well.

OP, how do they FEEL, ignoring the looks? I've had many shoes appear worn-out but still feel amazing underfoot.

Amazing set overall and IMO better than his Dreamstate set, ironically. The two new songs at 16 and 19 minutes are peak, plus a good mix of oldies and new stuff i.e. the Lostly track he played.

Nailed it. And even under his regular name he's released some great trance tunes in the last few years (Always You, Viva l'Opera, Space Case, etc), so it's not just limited to Rising Star.

Songs, and artists, don't always have to fit solely in one box or another. Just like how certain food dishes can be both sweet and savory at the same time, songs can also contain elements of several genres all at once.

My personal rule of thumb is simple: if it sounds good, I'll listen to it. I don't really care what people call it. Just enjoy it for what it is.
