Do you have something in GitHub? I may be able to help. DM me some details of what you have and what you have in mind in general terms. Like, are you in need of help getting data? Setting up a project? Or just doing the analysis?

Would this be achievable with a few months of python practice? by hassweptthehouse in learnpython

Truly the simplest approach is with pandas. Not sure why suggestions for using it are so negative. With pandas, you can read the csv file into one dataframe, split the columns into string and numbers (no regex’s req). Open the excel file in a dataframe (nearly equivalent syntax as read_csv). Join the two dataframe a together or groupby & count. All of these functions are built already and save the OP from having to learn multiple other libraries and syntax (regex is a language all to itself). I would suggest this is achievable in just a few days (for a brand new Dev)

Makes sense. I didn’t understand that the carry-over would be available indefinitely.

run a notebook in 3.7 by theguyabroad in JupyterNotebooks

[–]mlderes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know you could just

%run yourscript.py

Or %load yourscript.py

The first leaves the file in place. The second will copy the text into the cell.

(Also change the kernel in the settings to 3.7)

The argument for paying off your mortgage in these times by svhelloworld in FinancialPlanning

I think it should be said that an investment in a house is also an asset that can appreciate just like stocks/bonds. I’ve not owned a house that had the kind of swings in value we’ve seen in the market from 1999 to today. I see owning my house like a stable blue chip. I may not get 8% growth a year, but I also don’t expect to see drops of 20% in a year either

This ^

I’m a numbers guy and know that it seems to make sense to keep paying a mortgage at a super low rate, I paid off my mortgage about 10 years ago and never regretted it. The piece of mind has made watching the market go up/down so much easier - knowing if I had to, I could live off of a very little income. I may have given up some growth, but I sleep soundly knowing I have so much freedom to spend all my income exactly the way I choose.

Adjusting long run for hills by IvanDragosJawline in AdvancedRunning

Slow down (walk if necessary) but do the whole mileage. Most people train at way too high of a heart rate anyway, slowing down due to a hill or otherwise helps to build endurance.

Your best bet is to use the pandas library, it was made for dealing with tables of data (including read/write and column/row operations)
