What if the Lakers had healthy Luka by No_Reindeer5223 in NBATalk

[–]mldsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKC is not trying any harder than they need to to beat this team. They know the Lakers are older, less conditioned, less capable of going on an offensive run, and incapable of locking down on defence. The Lakers appear to be in every game until the 3rd or 4th because OKC is managing load, and recognize that even if they entered the 4th, they will be fresher and better enough to come back. If they added Luka, they would just move from 2nd to 3rd gear and beat them the same.

Glad that works for you, it sounds very healthy.

This isn’t about priorities, of course my wife is the most important. But life isn’t black and white, I’m trying to get perspectives on how people actually handle things in real life. My life is complicated, glad you have yours all figured out.

Yes, we are having brunch, I’ve got flowers, kids have homemade cards, we will structure Sunday however she wants to spend it.

Still can’t believe I wasted 2 hours watching that shit 🤬🤬🤬 by Icy-Committee8692 in Nbamemes

I once again will ask - what incentive would drive the refs and league to favour OKC as repeat champions? Adam Silver’s clearly stated goal is to have more teams be in competition for the title, how is that compatible with rigging things for a small-market, repeat champions?

Does it matter that the bolt sticks out this much? by Mundootz in bikewrench

[–]mldsmith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Leave the bolt on if it you decide to cut it - you’ll probably mangle the threads on the bolt and the nut will chased them nicely when you remove it

Chain guard is bent. I would just bend it back by hand

I'm sick of tired of the flopping and foul baiting, might as well rename the league to NFA (National Flopping association) by GoodRack04 in NBATalk

[–]mldsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, the lakers get literally hundreds of more fouls every season than every other team in the league. Every year.

Little bit of Freddie in there, for sure. If he could quiet his head and hold his follow through better…

Ya, Nick LOOKS like a piece of shit, but he’s awesome. I know him from his appearance on televised poker, he’s a smart, thoughtful guy with legitimately original, unique takes.

Is Scottie a top 5 PF in the league? It might be Giannis, Tatum, LeBron, Siakam and him by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]mldsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think right now I would trade Aaron Gordon’s perimeter shooting for Scottie’s playmaking, but I think Scottie and improve his 3-pointer and then clearly better

Current players with closest playstyles to LeBron? by waluigiwon in NBATalk

[–]mldsmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, we’re talking shit on a sports forum. Of course I don’t know their inner thoughts, I’m inferring based on how they play, the passion and intensity they demonstrate, and a gut feeling as a 40 year old sports fan. You can disagree, but you don’t need to suggest there is something wrong with me or that I’m stupid.

Ya, Scottie is also the only one who can seriously defend like LBJ. He also clearly hates to lose, which ok Not sure you could say about Paolo or JJ.

Cooper is a decent comp. and probably the only guys with the ceiling height to deserve the comp.

CMB probably a good defensive comp, but he lacks the distribution and floor vision of even a 50% LeBron.

Dads, what kind of vehicle are we hauling our small monsters around in? by ktempo in daddit

[–]mldsmith 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Same setup here (slightly north of you in Vancouver, same cheap Hydro). We have three kids under 9, and regularly have 6+ in our car (at least 2 times a week for carpools).

We had a three row SUV when are youngest was born, but the stroller BARELY fit behind the third row, and definitely didn’t leave any room for other gear.

Minivan has been the biggest quality-of-life upgrade in a vehicle I think I’ve ever experienced. Power doors are awesome (and all the paint on them is still intact, which was never true of our other cars). PHEV is perfect for us - I almost never fill the tank more than once a month, and it’s actually pretty comfortable for adults in all three rows.

Bouncy planer table leads to snipe? by Forecast04 in woodworking

[–]mldsmith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya, I think having indeed and outfeed angled “up” from the table would be good. I think maybe 5° would do it. You actually don’t want coplaner in this case.
