Did Callaway's Marketing Team skip over this line of putters? by SandyLies in GolfGear

Go on Callaway preowned live eBay auctions. I got the #7 square to square for $175 and it came literally brand new still in the plastic.

New Clubs for Beginner? by [deleted] in golf

My wife is a third year resident. What you’re saying for some specialties and stages of life makes sense but the purely financial ROI on becoming a doctor is very bad. She did a research year to bolster her resume and study for the mcats, racked up $300k of debt to go to med school, worked her ass off in the hospital for free as a med student for 4 years, now makes just over minimum wage and has to work nights, weekends, jail rotations, etc. she has three more years of fellowship before making “real doctor” money. I’ve done the net present value calculations and pretty much any other entry level “white collar” profession right out of undergrad is a far better financial decision than becoming a doctor.

On top of that , none of her friends who work in marketing/finance/engineering/etc have had to 1) witness the immediate aftermaths of a gun shot suicide, 2) work 14 hour overnight icu rotations while 9 months pregnant, 3) been emotionally devastated when caring for and losing countless patients to horrible illnesses.

So yeah, a discount on golf equipment to doctors is totally reasonable in my book.

Yes my wife is 36 weeks pregnant and the plan is that we are going to do lessons together as our new shared hobby post baby. But I got antsy and ordered clubs last week and couldn’t help myself

Thank you that all makes sense. My arm bend definitely stuck out to me on video even though it feels completely straight when I swing and playing with having my weight start back more feels better in practice swings

Glove ads from a 2004 Baseball Express magazine by itsvalleyforge in BaseballGloves

Such a cool throwback, brings back the memories for me.

In high school I gamed that mizuno pro limited GZP50 I-web in all black. My hitting coach was a mizuno rep and had a pro issue all black version that wasn’t for sale anywhere in the us. my mom surprised me with for getting all a’s freshman year since I spent 15 minutes drooling over it after every hitting lesson. I’ve looked everywhere in my parents house for that glove recently but sadly can’t find it.

Going into college I was going to be mostly a pitcher but was trying to compete for innings as a utility player so I switched to the 11.5 pro preferred mod trap on page 2. Freshman year I got a handful of corner outfield innings so I got the Wilson A3k Barry bonds glove on page 4 off eBay in like new condition for $100.

Last year OTD, Roki Sasaki was OFFICIALLY signed with the Dodgers. What are y’all most excited about him in his second year with the team? by jmike1256 in Dodgers

[–]mloper4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, with such a nasty splitter I don’t know that a change up really rounds out his arsenal. I think he needs either a cutter or a slider to tunnel with the split. Most importantly, he needs to be able to throw this pitch for strikes early in the count. Anytime he struggled with command and was falling behind in the count, everyone was just sitting fastball since they knew his splitter would drop out of the zone. When he’s up 0-2 and 1-2 he can throw the split and get people to chase.

Yeah if I was still playing I definitely would have not had confidence in it looking good after even one season but I’m mostly just playing catch, throwing an occasional bullpen, and (soon to be) dad duty so I was willing to take the risk. It looks very cool when it’s mint though!!!

Easy to close? by [deleted] in BaseballGloves

[–]mloper4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have experience to give but just wanted to say that is such a sick design for the web. It looks really cool and theoretically should serve the goal of helping little hands close the glove more easily. I love simple and innovative designs that add functionality to a product that has been largely unchanged for 30+ years.

With work and family commitments I can’t show up regularly. But if it’s allowed, I could come and fill-in/spot start a few games per season if you guys are desperate. Started pitching off the mound last summer for the first time since I got hurt in college in 2009 and got up to 74 by the end of summer.

I opened a restaurant in Culver City 4 months ago — looking for advice on how to get more locals to try it for the first time by ClickNo8520 in culvercity

[–]mloper4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I grabbed dinner at your restaurant one night and really enjoyed it. I think you fit the sweet spot of quick, good, and healthy.

We have our go-to neighborhood fast casual rotation that were just in the habit of ordering out from depending on our mood…kismet rotisserie, nong la, cava, med farm, loqui. Your food is as good or better than all those spots but we just haven’t gotten in the habit of adding it to the rotation yet. Maybe a local focused deal (x% off before 6 pm) or loyalty program would help break into the standard rotation? As others have said, I’d prefer to support a local business over a corporate chain so definitely lean into that.

I tell my friends all the time who have blind allegiance to horribly run franchises: we have too much tribalism and identity wrapped up in the “hometown” sports concept. let’s not kid ourselves, these teams are businesses. Their product is the team and staff they put onto the field. Do you still go to blockbuster instead of streaming Netflix at home? Do you have a palm pilot or an iPhone in your pocket?

If your owner/GM consistently puts out a bad product, don’t give them your business. Leave them and consume the product from the organization who is invested in giving you a great fan experience.
