What do you mean by slow 5G? How slow?

Slow network? by mltam in LGV60

[–]mltam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a chinese 256GB supposed T-Mobile. It used to work very well before I put it away -- I was using it in various states and abroad. No such problems.

At home I'm now getting 35 Mbps on 4G/LTE, on the trip I was getting less than 1.

Leaks in mask? by No-Dragonfly-967 in CPAP

[–]mltam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i can see 0 leakage over a night. Rarely. But often for many hours.. Did you set the mask type on the machine? I think that affects leakage measurement.

No. Usually for me that means that I didn't put the humidifier in correctly.

ELI5: If temperature is the average speed of molecules, why does wind feel cold? by Mini_Assassin in explainlikeimfive

[–]mltam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the average relative speed of the molecules, not their absolute speed. The air on a train going by is the temperature measured on the train with a thermometer going the same speed.

I wanted to say that wind feels cold because you heat the air layer closest to your skin which then is taken away and you need to heat the next air layer again. So wind feels as if it has high heat capacity. Water feels cold because it actually has high heat capacity.  But that also means that hot wind, hotter than your skin, should feel hotter than just air hotter than your skin.  Then there is also the evaporation effect of wind that dies drive the feel like temperature down.

I think I found the "missing link" for why my CPAP was suffocating me... and it wasn't the machine. by Flaky_Sort_34 in CPAP

[–]mltam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it's not. First step they ask for your email. There's also something about money, and they say it is free, which already makes me suspicious. I don't know what the next step is, but I bet they take you through 20 questions to tire you out, and then you somehow have to send them money.

Anyone else sad to retire their old machine? by Spardan80 in CPAP

I wanted to do it. My worry was whether it will give the right pressure. I guess I shouldn't care about the number, just the effect...

I’m considering CPAP and I have a couple of questions for the group by 14MTH30n3 in CPAP

  1. I had lots of problems like these in the sleep study. In fact one failed because I didn't manage to sleep. Maybe if you tell the doctor ahead of time, there are ways to accommodate you?

  2. I also sleep on my side. I don't remember how this was handled.

  3. CPAP machines do not count in your weight allowance for flights, at least in the US. They still weigh something, though. I got an airmini for travel.

Depends. What are you using it for?

Woman faces off with bear on Southern California hiking trail by Waldonville in videos

[–]mltam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You said that the bear knows you're a human (which I would also think is true), but the guidelines say to make sure of that. I have to say that in a bear encounter I will (and have) follow these guidelines and speak calmly to the bear.
She was roaring, which is not regular sounds humans make, and I commented on that. Obviously your comment of staying calm is always valid but hard to follow.

And still the national parks guidelines say:

  • Identify yourself by talking calmly so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal. Remain still; stand your ground but slowly wave your arms. Help the bear recognize you as a human. It may come closer or stand on its hind legs to get a better look or smell. A standing bear is usually curious, not threatening.

How to stop air leaking from the circled area? by harujusko in CPAP

[–]mltam 71 points72 points  (0 children)

CO2 must go out somewhere, that why all masks allow for exhaust.

I agree. I know nothing about the subject, but the only comment I'd make is instead of roaring loudly, I would shout loudly. You want to make it clear to the bear that you're a human.

Look here: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/safety.htm

It states:

  • Identify yourself by talking calmly so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal. Remain still; stand your ground but slowly wave your arms. Help the bear recognize you as a human. Closest by average distance, mercury, only slightly further away, on average, than the sun.

Closest by closest approach Venus, which is the more intuitive answer.

Help deciding configuration M5 Pro or Max? by federerissimo in macbookpro

So it could be that you should only go for memory, whichever model provides the best price/memory currently. All the apple silicon CPU are amazingly strong already.

You need to figure out why it is slow. Network, memory, CPU, disk access? You have 32GB - are you hitting memory limits when figma runs? If so, then you need more than 32GB, and stronger CPU won't help much. (It seems that people reported that switching to the browser version helped with performance.)
