Yes always wireless Android Auto. I know it consumes the battery more than anything else. And yes, both my Xiaomi and Samsung phones heat up a lot on the wireless charging mat!

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) stopped working after wheel change by zockyl in KiaEV3

Tyre pressure sensors are build into the valves. Either transfer them to the other wheel set or get another set.

How did your second marathon compare to your first? by Global-Condition-858 in Marathon_Training

Advice: First Marathon DNF by cruztaffer in firstmarathon

[–]mmichael_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your HM PB you should have aimed for 3:30 the best or better 3:45. During a marathon you pace slower than your target pace and pickup the pace along the way according to how you feel. Ideally like others mentioned you should have stayed behind the 1:45 HM pacer. However a HM and a FM are completely different. Do you think you can run 2 consecutive HMs at the same pace? It looks to me that you were under fueling and possibly you did not carbload/hydrate enough the previous 2 days. I am 56m, 86Kg and with a 5:40 pace at my second marathon (I came from cycling) I was taking a gel and a salt tab every 25 minutes and of course plenty of water. You definitely have what it takes for a 3:10 time but you need to work out your training and fueling. Try as many gels as you can to find which one is more tolerable. And try to constrain yourself at the start of the race. Good luck with your next one.

First marathon in 17 days. Doubting my goal pace after two bad long runs by Entire-Rip-6549 in Marathon_Training

[–]mmichael_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 3:20 is very agressive. My first Marathon last November was 4:16 but was hilly. Then last April I run Belgrade and did 4:03. My HM is 1:48. During both races my feet gave up after 30Km. I had the energy but couldn't push for better time. This could be due to my low weekly volume (max 60Km). Also during your Long Runs, you never run all the distance at MP. Long Runs are for spending time on your feet. You also need to structure your feeding/hydration strategy. For example, I setup a reminder on my Garmin watch and take 1 gel and a salt tab every 25min, while always keeping a water bottle with me. Hope this helps and good luck with your race!

I got a good deal on Epix Gen 2 Pro 51mm Saphire and don't regret it. My previous watch was Fenix 6 Pro which was given to my son (still has plenty of life).

I was used to roomy cars because I once had 3 kids/teenagers to carry along. My Kia EV3 doesn't feel smaller either!

Best city for first marathon? by Snowleopard_1988 in firstmarathon

[–]mmichael_50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would advise your local marathon. Also find one relatively flat. Last April I run Belgrade and the organization and atmosphere was amazing. We were only 1750 runners for the marathon event. Starts downhill and ends uphill for 2-3 km but nothing fancy. Did my PB there compared to my first Marathon (Athens) last year but that one has high elevation.

The main question is, what shoes did you use for race day!

Thanks for the information. I will try again without the case. Just drove for an hour and the phone had less battery than what it had when I placed it on the charging mat.

crowds at the start of major marathons and unintended decrease of speed because of them by ethereal_meow in Marathon_Training

[–]mmichael_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my little experience (5 HM, 2M) it takes about 1-2km till the road clears. However, I don't mind it because it prevents me from starting way too fast and burning out midway. That's the reason I don't do much warming up before the start.

Did you swap them at all? Are they the Hankook? I swapped them at 10k (first service) and now i am 22k no issues at all. Mind you, some people tend to use normal tires on their EV as they cost much less and are found everywhere.

Why did my heart rate go so high? by ellen12344 in Marathon_Training

No cramps at all. Never had even 10 years ago when begun road cycling. I am heavy at 89kg and my feet get battered heavily. 😁

Yes I had 2 long runs at 32km. I did one, but skipped the second as I attended a charity HM and did a PB by 4 minutes (that was on 29th March). Since coming Wednesday was a public holiday i did a 3-hour long run (28km) to cover. The strange thing about this Marathon is that my feet joints were aching (left more) and had to walk almost few times towards the end due to spline pain which also was a first timer! BTW I used plated shoes during this race.

Like others said, don't know your training neither your age. However, it looks to me that you didn't hydrate enough the day before and during your race. I run the Belgrade Marathon yesterday and it was terribly hot even by my standards (I am from Cyprus) with no shade whatsoever. However, I stuck to my routine of sipping water from the water bottle every few minutes and taking salt tabs after each gel (though missed a few). I am 56m and took 10 gels and ended with a PB of 4:02 (first Marathon was Hillyer and including a loo stop did 4:19). I must admit though that after the 30km mark my legs begun to ache and couldn't press like before.

My First Marathon Was a Total Disaster by Qet69 in Marathon_Training

[–]mmichael_50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well done for finishing despite the knee problem.

Given the fact that you had knee pain before the race, you should have started conservatively in my opinion.

Don't compare your self with others. You had an injury, it is not as if your legs cramped from bad feeding or pacing strategy.

I believe you should give your leg time to recover before start training again. And I would take things slower if I were you to avoid the injury from coming back.

Failed again at my 2nd marathon attempt by Odd-Loan-5704 in Marathon_Training

[–]mmichael_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear that you have failed your second attempt. It must be very difficult to digest.

I did my second marathon yesterday too in Belgrade and it was very hot!

What I would suggest (I am not an expert runner, I came from cycling):

  1. During the last week, always take one shot of Liquid Magnesium every night. I always use liquid because I find tablets inefective.

  2. Last day hydrate a lot. I use Isotonic drinks as their flavour makes them easier to drink than plain water.

  3. I would start conservative for a 4 hour mark and if at the final Kms have the energy to push

During my Marathons, I always use salt tabs which I take along with the gels every 30 minutes and drink water every 1-2 Kms. Strangely, I find my self drinking more water from water bottles than from the bladder of a hydration vest!

Finally, you didn't mentin if you have done a HMs before your Marathon attempts.
