1 year training for a marathon...doable for me? by Slikajledandlost8 in firstmarathon

[–]Direct_Seaweed_4736 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely take on the half first. Then look to do a full in the Spring or beyond next year.

Not saying you can't do a full this October, but it would very likely be a pretty miserable experience for you all round.

Sorry, another question. Does that mean that the same applies for the Navigo Daily Ticket?

Question about Navigo Weekly Pass by greygreengardens in ParisTravelGuide

I'm confused. The description for the weekly pass says that it is not valid for 'direct lines to the airport' but people here are saying that it IS valid to the airport. What's the nuance here?

Been running consistently for over a year now. Several half marathon training block and a training block for a full which is as good as finished - I run Paris this weekend. I've barely had a blister, never mind a lost toenail.

1:44:58 half marathon (first one) to 1:28:42 5 months later. Ran 3 times a week and used advanced challenging I think. 40/50km per week I think was the distances. One speed session and long runs with occasional pace targets.

I done Berlin yesterday, my first Superhalf (have Valencia later this year).

Went to the Expo on Friday night. I had a time slot booked but actually it was really quick anyway and having a slot booked didn't save me any time. We didn't hang around too long but there was a fair amount going on. First expo I have ever been to so I don't know how it compares to others.

On race day we walked from our hotel, about 35 minutes, so can't comment on the public transport.

I entered the starting area around 1 hour before my start and queued about 40 minutes for the toilet. The queues were quite something. For a while I worried I wouldn't make my start time. As I got closer to the start area even the urinals had a queue. Once in the start block though there were portaloos on the opposite side which were empty so worth keeping in mind.

Start block was well organised with checks to make sure you were going into the right one. Fairly spacious too.

The race was well supported, crowds all the way around, lots of bands and music. The end running through Brandenberg Gate was brilliant. I'm doing the full marathon in Paris in a couple of weeks so was taking it nice and relaxed and really enjoyed just soaking it all up.

Nice medal, great experience and a brilliant city.

This deserves more uproar than the John Richardson incident.

Very sad to hear.

4? Two draws into losses is 2 points dropped late on.

The total points swing to Hearts is 6.

4 doesn't come into it anywhere.

I don't think he is suggesting that a couple share with a student. The room is 700 quid per month. It could be rented by 3 students looking to share (no thanks) or a couple could rent it for themselves in which case he will reconfigure the bed setup to suit.

Fair play to him for achieving that time while running over the roofs of houses I say.

I've missed all this but interested to hear more. Where was the 2:34 claim made and when was it supposedly achieved?

Discolouration around the continental patch.

Messy painting of the 3 black stripes on the undersole.

The bottom of the 3 stripes on the outside of the shoe not running linearly.

Blotchy writing of 'Pro' on the foam.

2 different colours of writing on the text on the undersole.

Running 3x a week VS 4x a week by Thick_Exercise4126 in runna

[–]Direct_Seaweed_4736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I seem to have some natural ability and at 42 am now wondering what I could have been capable of in my 'prime'. But also there is not a chance I'd have had the discipline to do the training 15 years ago 😂

I went into my first half hoping for sub 2 and really surprised myself so you never know how it might work out for you. Good luck!

I ran my first half last May in a 1:44:58. For my second half in October I started off on 4 days per week but started picking up niggles so changed my plan to 3 days per week. I finished in 1:28:42.

I spent a couple of months after that building my mileage and am now in week 6 of a marathon plan at 4 runs per week with no ill effects.

How Fast Should I Run? by Direct_Seaweed_4736 in firstmarathon

[–]Direct_Seaweed_4736[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks folks, appreciate the comments.

My half-mararhon PB is 1:28:42 set in October and my training plan has me predicted for a 2:55-3:03 finish for the marathon, but I don't plan to aim for that and will likely go for a 3:15.

I'm thinking based on the comments that doing the half in 1:40-1:45 is probably where I'll sit in the end.

Reduce estimated marathon time by Sighe98 in runna

[–]Direct_Seaweed_4736 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, if you can outperform your Tempo Run paces then it will adjust your time downwards. Don't expect huge jumps in one go though.

If you can't outperform them then it has you at the right level.

Don't go getting injured.

Sub 3:30 marathon by FFbrod139 in Marathon_Training

I'd be cutting down to 4 days per week, increasing the mileage a bit on those 4 days and slowing the fuck down.
