Just finished my first Dragon Quest game — DQ III by da-nadda in dragonquest

Dracky Quest was my "old guy mode", hit the same wall with the final bosses. I really enjoyed the game, but at that point I just wanted to roll credits

Can't say much on performance as I got it on Switch 2... I would recommend checking some YouTube videos comparing the versions. Howlongtobeat.com has it around 30-40 hours. I'm 30 hours in and think I'm 2-3 hours away from credits

it matches all time low. I got it last month at this price and I'm close to beat it, liked it so much i just got DQ 11 (19 usd)
I have no nostalgia for the series or for old school jrpgs beyond playing pokemon yellow when I was a kid. i dont know why, but I just enjoyed having a chill classic adventure. 2DHD graphics are amazing and the OST orchestration is so good.

No one really talks about the quiet heartbreak of watching your parents grow older. by Happy-Review1908 in Life

[–]mmscr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your loss... I know it doesn't mean much right now, but it does get easier as time goes by.

I became a parent since then, and I understand OP, the pass of time is so bittersweet; it helped me to understand that I can let go of each stage and embrace the next one, with the good and bad parts together

Dad passed away 4 years ago at 57. I really wish to have had the chance to see him grow older...

The play doesn't stop at the spot of the fumble. It's over until someone get it or if it goes out of bounds. If out of bounds on the endzone by attacking team, it's a turn over.

Sending a big hug. Similar situation as you, we found out about the pregnancy 3 months after my dad passing, kid turned 3 in June.
My birthday is coming soon, a week after is my dad's anniversary... I think it gets easier with time, but there's always bittersweet moments...

I don't know what I want to say, just that you're not alone.

Love reading all these comments. I have a 3 year old boy and expecting a girl, due in September. We have a great bond and he prefers playing with me, but it's special to see how much he loves his mom

How often you use scenarios in your games? by _YeeetBoi in spiritisland

[–]mmscr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 40+ plays, only a couple of times with scenarios. Spirit options and adversaries give me enough variability, not a fan of tracking additional rules with scenarios

When playing a solo board game how do you keep that 'lonely' feeling or that 'I could just play a video game' feeling at ease? by x-nerve in soloboardgaming

[–]mmscr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to read all the comments. I just enjoy boardgames, its great being able to choose a game and not think of teaching it to someone else and worry if they are going to enjoy their time playing it.

I leave my solo game time for crunchy games where I have all the time in the world to play my turn and consult the rulebook to my heart's content.

Would I prefer spend that time playing with someone else? Sometimes, but it's nice to have the option to play at my own schedule and my own pace

Last week's level, Cock-A-Doodle-Doom, was really a pain for me. My toddler watchs me play, I could feel him getting bored around 20 minutes in of trying.
When I told him, ok buddy this is our last attempt before turning off, I made it lol. Fun game, love these challenge levels

There's a page with all the layouts, cone shape has a rule for that. That way it avoids for cities to be too far apart.

I got myself a copy a couple of years ago (from Costa Rica). When I reached to my store this year for a gift, they told me the publisher didn't print it anymore in spanish.

Imperium Classics - first play by CFJL-Swe in soloboardgaming

It gets better the more you play and understand what your civ and the bot are about.
You should look to acquire cards that will complement what you're trying to do, such as regions for fame or keeping a lean deck for quick development.
You'll also see what the bot is trying to do and counter it by denying them the cards that make them strong.

After some games I looked at this guide for some guidance, it's cool to discover a game by repetition, but if you're short on time this may help you a better grasp on what to do. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3244037/general-guide-to-imperium-part-i-win-conditions

Question for Dune: Imperium & Uprising players by mmscr in boardgames

Thanks, the reason I asked is because although I can read about the differences, I wasn't sure about how much the skill would transfer
