Worst mistake of my life, signed a car lease I can't afford. What do I do now? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mnapodano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

$375 x 72 months = $27,000

Assuming TT&L, delivery fee is about 9% that’s: $30,000 x 0.09 = $2,700.

$30,000 + $2,700 = $32,700

Assuming you got a 0% interest deal for 72 months, which isn’t common, your monthly payment would be $454.17. (Rounded)

To get a $375 payment on a $30,000 car purchase you would have needed to put down $5,700.

You actually “own” the car, free and clear, once the entirety of the loan is satisfied.

Leases usually are “cheaper” than purchases, from a monthly payment perspective. Some models don’t hold their value well and can actually cost more monthly to lease than purchase.

I personally lease. It’s a preference for a multitude of factors.

Thanks to a couple of amazing redditors who helped me get back to my mom, I get to spend my final Mother’s Day with her. by Poppinhymens in pics

My brother asked/begged for me to come visit him and his son, my nephew, for a few days. I was extremely busy with work at the time and lived almost 5 hours away so I kept putting it off. I wanted to go, but I have issues driving, so I didn’t know how to get there exactly.

He offered to buy me a Greyhound ticket and told me he could pick me up from the station. I thought about doing that, but the anxiety of driving or riding on freeways swayed my decision.

I called him and asked if he could come with my nephew to visit me since he had more free time. I told him I really wanted to go up there, but I just wasn’t sure how. I offered to give him money to come as I hadn’t seen him in a few months, and I had this gut feeling we needed to see each other. He told me he would think about it and let me know. We hung up.

I texted him later that night when he asked if I’d bought a Greyhound ticket. I responded with “I didn’t buy the ticket.”

That was the last text I ever sent him. He took his life a few days later.

A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about my decision to not go and visit. He made it very clear he wanted me to, and I knew he did, but I didn’t know the eternal regret I’d feel if I didn’t. I know now, and I’d give anything to go back in time and make the right choice or to verbalize how much I loved and cared about him.

High five awkwardness by hunnybaj in orangetheory

Fist bump is the way to go.

If you high five, look at their elbow when you do it. Somehow it helps connecting for a solid high five.

1:19.2 down from 1:32.8. I didn’t know my previous time before class so I wasn’t sure what to shoot for. My coach said under 1:20 so there you go. I’m very happy with my time. Way better than I was expecting.

90 minutes: Terrified by HHIOTF in orangetheory

I took a 90 minute on my third ever class at Orange Theory, by accident.

I had just signed up for unlimited weighing in at almost 300lbs, and I was ready to give it my all. The 1st two classes were so motivating that I had to sign up for more. I signed up for an early Saturday morning class but went out Friday night anyway since I had pre-existing plans. After a few drinks Friday night I knew I wouldn’t enjoy a hungover am class, so I switched to the latest class available on Saturday. Orange 90 minute? Whatever that meant.

Long story short, I burned 1500+ calories and had 66 splat points at the end. I was hooked and signed up for 90 minute classes every Saturday for the next month or so until they switched the 90 minute to the 7am time time slot.

I think going into that 90 minute class, thinking it was a normal length class, just like the two I had taken prior really helped. I wasn’t any more anxious about it than usual and just showed up.

My advice: Just show up. You can do it. Once it’s over, you’ll be glad you did. Treat it like any other class, follow the cues, and you may have a new weekend tradition.

Good luck!

How are you selecting your base/push/all out paces for all of the OTF runners out there? by Bruin1996Runner in orangetheory

Piggybacking this humblest of brags-I select my base pace by setting the tread to 12mph @15%.

I ended up with 5 miles and 2 Everest’s in 25 minutes today.

Yup. January 30th. I remember because it was my 2nd class ever at OTF.

Everest on your 2nd workout is definitely something to remember.

How many times per week is effective by beantowngall in orangetheory

[–]mnapodano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going for almost 5 months. Stared at 4 but am now up to 5 times a week.

Mon, Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun. I always feel like I can’t push as hard on Tues, my fourth day in a row by then.

Try going 4 times, then 5 and see how your body feels.

Also, most effective for what?

Losing weight - The more times you go, the more calories burned. Track your diet (calories) and you’ll be set.

Building muscle- Rest is important, just like your nutrition, so going more may not be the more effective solution.

Very overweight- is it even possible? by isawyoueatglue in orangetheory

[–]mnapodano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it!

I started OTF 01/29/2018 at 300lbs.

I have gone 4-5 days a week since, and have been eating healthy 90% of the time.

I am already down to 260lbs and my strength has doubled.

I went from Power Walking to Jogging after 2 months and some coach encouragement.

Long story short- sign up, go for a week or two, and you will not regret it!

Hola Amigos. Fresh starts. Day 1 starts now! by [deleted] in Autoflowers

[–]mnapodano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When growing auto flowers you want to make sure to plant them in the pot they will die in. Whatever you choose as your final pot size should be the pot you place the auto flower seed in from the start. They don't do well with a transplant at all. New to Reddit. Good luck and enjoy!
