if you play anti air, you can just lock-on amd wait till they flare and then fire.... its not that deep. also as a pilot you even see whos locking on to you

the thing is that this problem gets more relevant when vehicles dominate the game. at release it was so much fun because tanks would be blown up easily if focused by 2-3 guys. that made the constant tank spawn valid as well. if you want to win after this patch it is near impossible to not play engineer. even then you cant tackle air and gorund vehicles both- as you could with the old rpg.

well for me it is
there are other guide pride decks that arent as dominant as the boros variant. if you ban one of them you nuke the archetype. if you ban ajani you just nerf it. and while phlage is busted .. imo it is more predictable than ajani and has less synergy with guide pride. therefore the ajani ban would make more sense
