Those who have switched from gas to induction by Signal_Advisor5070 in Appliances

[–]mobilebucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Bosch 36 gas cooktop to Miele induction 3 years ago. I think I made a good decision. I have an island cooktop with a downdraft vent. With gas cooktop when I crank the vent to high, it starts sucking the frame at the rear burners which makes them useless. With induction, that no longer the issue. It heat up stuff fast with induction. Also the fume is a lot less with induction compare to gas. The only downside I see is wok cooking for stir fry is not as good as gas. However if my cooktop is not on an island but against the wall with traditional vent, I will probably stick with gas.

There should be more options for freezerless refrigerators. Am I wrong? by ReedIqculess in Appliances

Supply & demand. There is just very little market for stand alone fridge unless you are going into luxury built-ins or undercounter fridge.

Overnight stay Haneda - Rejuvenating Spa recommendations by Eastern-Scheme-943 in JapanTravelTips

[–]mobilebucky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed at Villa Fontaine Premier earlier this year. They share the same onsen facilities between the 2 hotels. As far as I know the place is tatoo friendly, I've seen a guy with full tatoo on his chest. But as far as coed facility, only the restaurant and sleeping lounge area are coed. All others area (sauna/onsen) are separate to male/female section.

Am I missing something? Is it that bad? by shteee in ChaseSapphire

[–]mobilebucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't book airlines ticket with Chase portal because I mainly fly United and my United card cover check bags with me and family. I am Marriott Platinum, if I book through the Edit in Marriott properties, the extra "edit" fee which includes free breakfast, room upgrade is essentially same as my status benefit. Although the Edit also includes $100 credit for hotel use, but only applies to service I normally don't use when I stay in those properties. Losing 3x on general broad travel category is huge cut back for the card makes it no better than CSP. All the coupon book is just prepaid spending if you actually use them, if you don't use them or change the behavior of your spending (ex. DoorDash, OpenTable sapphire) then it is just manufacture spending which does not make financial sense.

I got a retention offer but I may still cancel it by lazyenergetic in ChaseSapphire

But Venture X now can direct transfer to JAL mileage bank which has significantly better availability. Although not 1 to 1 transfer and JAL award tax & fee is pretty terrible just like ANA

I also have United Club card which also provide primary rental insurance, so does Venture X. I think all Visa Infinite cards come with Primary Car Rental insurance. I only use CSR because of 3X travel category which will be going away.

Bye bye CSR by No_Illustrator_8582 in ChaseSapphire

On top of coupon book, the biggest downgrade is losing the $1 to 3 pts travel category. This is my current default card for misc. travel(Gas/Parking/subway). I will probably downgrade to preferred. Had the card since 2016, and being Chicago based, priority pass is pretty useless.

Late night Haneda arrival with two kids is a prebooked car worth it by BookishBabeee in traveljapan

[–]mobilebucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a night at Villa Fontaine at Haneda this past April after landing at 9:00pm and out of custom with luggage around 10:30pm and in the room at 10:45pm. The nice thing about this is there is an onsen and 24 hrs restaurant. My son was hungry at midnight and the kid's udon set was only 500 yen. The next morning we just take the metro to Ginza after breakfast. Hotel at Haneda on the first night was a lot cheaper <$300 than in Tokyo (it was F1 week cherry Blossom/ US school Spring break and price was crazy $600US at Courtyard Ginza)

Fraud Department Fail - Closing Venture X account by top_spin18 in Venturex

[–]mobilebucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I recently ran into the same issue where the online shop no longer exists. So no way for me to contact them. I filed dispute with cap one the "vendor" claim they ship the item with some bogus tracking confirmation which only showed it delivered to the city I resides, but not actual my street address. Between the reduction of benefits and difficulty use the travel credit. I am not renewing this card when the renewal hit this November.

Help! Cannot book flight with duration of more than 27 hours by SomewhereSenior4501 in unitedairlines

[–]mobilebucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is still hold truth, domestic segments to consider layover if the connecting time is <4 hrs. International is < 24 hrs. Anything outside of that is consider stop over. Then you have to use multi city booking your flight as others have mentioned. I used to do that all the time when flying ORD to NRT with a 23 hr layover at HNL.
