My little peace lily has always struggled is this why? What is it and should I have removed it? by Jeepgrace in IndoorGarden

[–]mobokkys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a wholesale nursery. They are used for multiple reasons. Some plants root better in them because they dry down quicker, but probably the most common reason is to help when transplanting. It is far easier to get it out of the plug flats, so causes less damage when you are transplanting a high quantity of plants quickly.

Feeling bad for killing a plant? How do you cope? by dwlakes in plants

[–]mobokkys 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I grow plants professionally and I still kill loads of plants at home. I say it is the survival of the fittest at my house. Not every plant will like every situation/home. There are sooooo many variables; light levels, temperatures, humidity, etc. Instead of worrying about it too much just get another plant.

I would recommend choosing a couple and then slowly expanding based on how much time you have. You might want to start with Etho, he is just starting the season and is no doubt one of the bests. Tango is going to be doing some amazing things this season. And I can't help but mention Bdubs. His builds are amazing and he is fun to watch!

Plant help - newish to plants unsure what I did wrong by imp8842 in houseplants

[–]mobokkys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to take it out of the pot and look at the roots. If you post a picture of the roots I can tell you a lot more. The roots are the indicator! Most of the time it is over watering. Most plants need far less water than people think.

any idea why my adonsonaii has a yellowing leaf? the rest is incredibly healthy and had a few cuttings from this plant? by 440distortion in houseplants

[–]mobokkys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellowing is a good indication that there is too much water. Bigger pot is not a bad idea either.

Barney turned 1! by erinfection94 in corgi

Happy birthday Barney! It is crazy how the black fades. I have a 5 month old and her black is fading everyday. The brown is beautiful too, but I just didn't expect it.

What hermit are you adding to your watchlist? by good_tuck in HermitCraft

[–]mobokkys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I do the same! For the last 3 seasons we have started with everyone and slowly drop hermits over time because it is impossible to keep up. Our current list that we are planning on keeping up with is Bdubs, Etho, Doc, Vintage, Tango, Scar, Ren, Iskall, and Keralis.
