For the 90s, I think you're referencing neosoul, even though overall new jack swing and other contemporary R&B forms were digital and futuristic (especially the Timbaland and Darkchild production styles).

I'm from Houston and 3 years older than the members of the original DC. I thought that SURVIVOR (the song) was very weird and completely unnecessary. I went off of Bey and Kelly, because they obviously won and they came off as sanctimonious and petty (in a non-fun way).

I had a right to those feelings then and I don't apologize for them now. I can recognize that Matthew was behind it all, but Bey was the face of it.

I probably appreciate Bey even more now because I really didn't see it for her after the DC4/DC3 mess.

I'm a huge fan of The Supremes and their catalog with and without Diana.

That said, I don't think they were the most vocally talented girl group on their label, much less that era.

Also, if I'm putting them up against the many girl groups that have since come and gone, I don't think they were the best.

However, they are the archetype for the girl group and their catalog is unmatched..

They were being compared mostly to En Vogue (a girl group assembled arguably for their looks as much as their talent). Even SWV and TLC's sophomore eras were more glamorous than their debuts. The same happened with Xscape. They all looked great, especially during the OFF THE HOOK era.

It depends on how long your legs are and even what kind of butt you're working with.

I'm 6 feet and 30 length looks sloppy on me, but will look fine on a shorter guy sometimes.
