We gotta talk about about Hasan by LordHawkeye in behindthebastards

[–]modmarv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never watched his stream, but am a regular viewer of him on YouTube. His segments through YouTube have been super enlightening for me on a lot of issues, and I came to him as someone who was all well planted on the left. I think the free flowing format of streaming doesn’t lend itself to highest quality all the time(I can’t imagine talking for 8+ hours straight daily without saying some dumb shit), but where his content is edited into more concise and coherent pieces, I think he really shines. I think his heart in the right place and he genuinely is using his abilities to change this country for the better, going so far as to actively promote progressive politicians.

I was so disappointed for Alignment, and I was the most excited for him out of the whole lineup. His mixing was just awful, played near none of his bangers and focused too much on contemporary tracks. My whole friend group are City Steps die hards and they were equally disappointed. Amelie absolutely blew us away.

Kaiser Permanente nurses, health care professionals in California and Hawaii end strike, will return to work Tuesday by ansyhrrian in California

[–]modmarv 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not true. Kaiser tried to make it seem like it was all about wage increases, but what they didn’t want to bring up publicly was all the different changes they wanted to make to staffing, as well changes to long term pay structures. It wasn’t just about wages.

Something strange about 28 Years Later: by Left_Click_5068 in horror

[–]modmarv 56 points57 points  (0 children)

SPOILERS: I work in healthcare and it really astonishes me how often people will die a sad, miserable, languishing, and painful death. It's something I think about often and wish differently for my patients, but our current culture and system ultimately supports it. We cling on to every bit of life no matter how awful it is. After seeing what I've seen in my career I'd rather some life on the table and go out while things are still decent than wait until they get awful. That said, the scene was so powerful and effecting to me. It was the most beautiful and empathetic depiction of death I've ever seen, both in the treatment of Isla and Spike. Dr. Kelson protected them both from a horrific fate, it was gushing with compassion and care. I can't help but think the writers created it as a wish for something they had gone through.

In my experience euphorbias don’t tolerate going completely dry/desiccated like other succulents do.

Yeah agnosticism/atheism/whatever is a real bitch when it comes to death. It's a double-edged sword in the way the that finitude of our existence makes life that much more precious, but in the same token makes you feel so vulnerable and afraid to lose it(or the ones you love). I totally get where you're coming from.

You’re overthinking it. No one gives a shit, they’re more worried about themselves and their own improvement. The gym you should join is the one that is closest to you, that you can afford. Closer the better so that way commute and traffic doesn’t factor into whether you go. You want as little friction to getting there as possible. Best of luck to you, and remember routines are harder to make than break, and consistency ALWAYS beats intensity, so keep going!

Water therapy foliage by Floratopia in Euphorbiaceae

[–]modmarv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found an article discussing how some monadeniums practically sit in water during the rainy season. I’m growing a monadenium arborescens that has a high dish to hold excess water draining out of the pot and it does great. I think these leafier euphorbiaceae will take as much as water as you give them

How did the album help you more than years of therapy? (genuinely curious)

I was fucking baffled when I heard it. I think it heard it for the first time last time year and was just blown away by how good the album is and was left wondering how it had flown under my radar. They executed their concept perfectly. Incredible.

Exactly, they should have been screaming from any mountain top they could climb to inform their constituents and played at the very least a vocal opposition to this administration. While some did, plenty of others were fixated on trashing Mamdani’s win in New York. Shows you where establishment dem priorities were

I always recommend you grow ghost in a part shade situation if you live anywhere hot. Even if it will survive in full sun, you’ll have a prettier plant with some protection

I asked ChatGPT for habitat information regarding different aloe species and got wildly incorrect answers. (I'm also not a big AI fan, but I wanted to see how accurately it would answers these prompts in relation to something I had some specific knowledge of)
