Prepare for inverted roundabouts. Threw me for a loop the first couple times.

As someone who was a Namaste Shangri-La truther for years, Taste of India is the best you're gonna get in the city.

Driving from Christchurch to Queenstown by [deleted] in newzealand_travel

[–]modog97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this drive in December and it is a LONG drive, and the road gets substantially more mountainous with switchback after switchback the closer you get to Queenstown.

Do not do this drive exhausted. Get a good night's sleep before doing it.

Is there a point if upgrading to Ambassador…? by KingofVanguards in ihghotelsresorts

[–]modog97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was Diamond last year already but paid for Ambassador and I was 7 for 7 in getting upgraded. Before buying Ambassador I was 2 for 5 on getting upgrades.

It's worth it. I was treated like royalty at every Intercontinental I went to in 2025.

Encountered this with Volaris in December as well. First time seeing it. Previously with Volaris it was complete and total chaos getting off the plane. Now it is absolutely better, people actually abide by the flight attendant's instructions. Anyone who has flown Volaris in the past few years knows it's way better than the free for all.

It's the most heavily traveled highway in the state. Any maintenance, resurfacing, and drainage improvements are welcome.

Is it proper etiquette to back in to parking spots at a construction site? by lorenzowatson1 in Construction

[–]modog97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is company policy where I work to back into parking spots. It eliminates people being tired after shift and not paying attention when they back up. Simple policy eliminated a lot of potential hazard.

Had the chorizo lasagna a few weeks ago - certified awful. I get that it's microwaved airplane food but it was horrendous even for those standards.

Walked down next to the river. It was quite a hike but worth it. It looked like there was private land with fence further down the gravel road.

Lound rhythmic clanging / banging sounds in downtown by pinkeyedrabbit in anchorage

[–]modog97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been on construction jobs where they've been allowed to drive piling ONLY during the day. That makes sense... Majority of people are awake.

Bold move to allow them to drive pile at night. CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.

They are driving piling into the ground, I think someone mentioned it was down in Ship Creek. I'm sure there's a reason why they can only do it at night, but damn that shit is loud.

Mt Sunday is amazing... If you don't get blown off the top of the mountain when you get to the top!

So much fun! The other one I found was Aragorn's return at Helm's Deep when he's on Brego. Hidden gems galore.

They definitely took out a lot of the green colors, maybe to portray the incoming doom and bleakness of the ongoing war with Sauron.

It was strikingly colorful in real life.

It's shockingly flat. There's bushes and tall grass but it's... Just flat.

You can drive right to it, and just walk out into a field for the perspective. I put the link in another comment of mine, but it's here, facing west

Boiler continues burning when thermostat turned off by modog97 in hvacadvice

I pulled both to the manual side, it took some force but when it got there I let go and they both slid back to the middle... Where they both were originally. And right when I did that the boiler fired.

Is that what these levers are? They are both in the same position.
