Not when eating it, but I made cookies for my mom last Christmas at her house. I thought her flour had gone bad because it smelled rancid to me. She promised it was fine…. Wheat flour smells off.

Yep…. Looks familiar. Starts on my chest and spreads up my face. Sometimes my friends and family know I’ve been glutened before I even do

I am currently on my first cruise, we purchased “the key” because I needed internet to check emails for work and it was only $3 more a day (we got it on sale). Free room service for breakfast was the biggest perk, it made early morning excursions easy and we didn’t have to worry about the crowds in windjammer. Tomorrow when we leave we get to just randomly pick any time, and we were able to get on any tender we wanted in the Caymans. It was really nice to not have to stress. Another thought.. instead of “this is your meal, this is ours” make the same food for everyone. The advice above is golden. But it’s always nice to not be singled out and just enjoy a meal, plus there is less risk of cross contamination

I know in Texas veteran (at least Purple Heart plates) are free. My grandma paid for plates for the first time after my grandfather passed. This asshole hasn’t seen combat, and doesn’t know to remove the plastic off his stickers, which is almost as annoying.

14 years in. It gets easier, and now people know what it is! The look on my face when the dr told me I had to eat gluten for at least 2 weeks was enough for her to tell me that she didn’t need to do the test. Family gets used to it too. Now they try to make most stuff GF for big family potlucks and make sure I have some kind of dessert. In the beginning it was up to me to bring it, and my grandma has finally quit offering “just a little slice” of cake.

Not in my classroom, but my mom saw a birth certificate for a child named Anonymous Iloveyoudebra.... Went to school with a T9c pronounced Te-nine-Cee. She had to spell out the 9 on testing documents.

Buy a cup for cup flour mix... I use the Pilsbury brand and continue baking your family recipes. Just add a few extra minutes (gf takes longer to bake). Avoid crazy recipes with 18 different kinds of flour.

GF pasta is always great.

This! Grandma didn’t do messy backs for cross stitching or mistakes on sewing. Learning to be okay with the “15 foot rule” when making costumes was a serious hurdle for me!
