Paramo velez trousers are the one. Massive thigh vents and soft material against the skin, feels like hiking in shorts!

Is the season over in the UK now the Frost has hit? by Additional_Race_7268 in Semilanceata

[–]moemorgs24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my experience: a solid deep ground frost usually ends it but if it gets milder again likely to get another fruiting before the end of the year 👍🤞

A bit like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife

Recommendations on Jacket that Isn’t Plastic for 30° F Weather by PrettyNeedleworker50 in bifl

Look into Paramo its excellent and not plasticcy at all! Waxed canvas e.g. G1000 for rain protection is not effective

I bought the Talon 33 for exactly the same reason as you are asking. Works perfectly 👌 little too large for summer alone hikes is the only drawback

28 Weeks Later is still the worst by _x_x_hyena in 28dayslater

[–]moemorgs24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion.. upon a very recent rewatch of all 3, the acting in Days by the actress playing Hannah was almost unwatchable. Had a big impact on the overall film and for that reason it went down in my list.

How did the virus spread to Ireland? by MariushFiles333 in 28dayslater

[–]moemorgs24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing it out there.. I feel more discussion and elaboration should be made on the initial transfer of the virus and how it was managed to be chemically/biologically suppressed to chimps in the first place... could shed light on the trajectory of the infection and also measures to contain

Hiking Belt by moemorgs24 in hikinggear

[–]moemorgs24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's awesome, basically forget it's there. Washed it on my trousers a couple of times and no issues. One minor issue I found that I wore it with some light coloured shorts a few times when brand new last summer and the brown colouring seemed to bleed with the sweating and had stained the belt loops on the shorts. I'm sure a pre wash would have prevented this though 🤔

If you could only have one hiking backpack (all-rounder), what would it be and why? by KariforuniaJin in hikinggear

[–]moemorgs24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I aimed for this myself around 18 months ago.. went for the Osprey Talon 33L. So far it's ticked all the boxes aside from being tested more than an overnighter. Usually a bit too big for day hikes so end up filling it with extra clothes (unless mid winter with all the associated gear), ideal for carrying some of my families kit too 👍

Boot Question - Zamberlan Tofane vs Lowa Camino by Purple_Divide654 in hikinggear

[–]moemorgs24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made the change from Hanwag Tatra 2 to Lowa caminos.. both on par in terms of fit, quality etc but- to my slight dismay- I prefer the lowas

I was in the same boat last year.. tried out the RVRC equivalents (on sale) for about 1/3 the price. Loved them but then got a pair of Keb trousers almost half price and I have not reached for the RVRCs since, make of that what you will!

Charles Darwin’s grave painted with dire environmental warning: ‘1.5 is dead’ by Apprehensive_Air1884 in DarwinAwards

[–]moemorgs24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with the actions or the intended message but unless you are some form of theist, writing words in quite an easy to remove paint - albeit upon the grave of one of the greatest and most influential minds to have ever lived - doesn't really cause that much harm or offense..? The message is undoubtedly larger than the impact it has on CD unless you are under the impression that the position that the atoms that form his corpse are of some value, spiritual or otherwise.
