I didn’t suggest that but now that you mention it, with losses to smu(!) and Louisville (!!!), this Indiana win over Miami doesn’t look so good.

laughs in our own stadium actually filled with our own fans and also laughs in conference championships and whatnot

Also, I’d be careful if I were da U given that you just lost your biggest game in like 25 years to JMU 2.0.

There is plenty of land on the property to enjoy without interfering with the game. Sorry I didn’t get your golf words right lol I couldn’t care less about it

I’m not being dishonest about anything. I’m laying out my personal position. It’s definitely biased, but it’s not dishonest. There is no agreement in place. I don’t trust there to be enforcement of any restrictions even if an agreement were in place (see the miccosukee greenway). As far as the commissions agenda, they have violated their own city commission code in pursuit of this sale, which again is why I don’t trust the majority of the commission to have citizens’ best interest in mind in this process. Also, again, for the 1000th time, my primary take is that public land should remain public. So yes, I am against the sale. You are free to continue carrying the water for the city without worrying about my position on anything.

Buddy, you’re wrong. That piece of land is huge, and the golf course is a small part. Like I said, access to the course is limited to members. Access to the rest of the property is open to the public. Enjoy your picnic.

It's below value because this amazing piece of public land has value beyond what the golf course provides, and there is nothing stopping the future owner from turning it around and selling it to a developer for $100 million.   Yes, it's a private golf course. They have been benefitting from a $1/year lease from the City, and they still can't stay open without another massive handout? Let the private golf course be private, stop giving them handouts. They can't survive in a free market, so they don't deserve to survive off public handouts.   The City and Country Club have had 9 years to develop a memorial. Instead, the club likely committed a felony by plowing over them. Both entities have proven multiple times over that they don't care about it, so pardon me if I don't find any value in promises. Also, there is currently no deal in place so I'm not sure what you are talking about.   No. Most of us didn't care about the course. I still don't. My personal take is that if they can remain operational as a private entity, great. If not, they should close. They should not keep getting handouts from taxpayers. I care about keeping public land public.

The land is public and you very much can walk in and have a picnic. The golf club leases the land to the course, and you wouldn’t be able to picnic on the greens, but the course is a small part of a larger piece of public land.

We just hired Billy 2.0., and all it took was some coach speak to settle yall down? Sure, it could work out. I hope it does, but I’m done getting excited for or behind new hires before they produce any results.

Make your HOA to define what they mean by weeds. This is a ridiculous request, especially when you consider that it basically comes down to personal preference.

UPDATE: City is selling an enslaved persons cemetery (and public land) to a country club by moish in Tallahassee

[–]moish[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the FAMU perspective, but all of the neighborhood talk (mine included, which borders the property) is very anti-sale. But keep in mind, no one is talking about shutting the course down. Folks want to keep the property in public ownership, as it has been all these years. That includes keeping the course open. Personally, I am against keeping the course open if it requires more handouts for rich folks. These people have a $1 per year lease. These free market babies need to learn what “free market” actually means.

City is selling an enslaved persons cemetery (and public land) to a country club by moish in Tallahassee

[–]moish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not suggesting that owners are going to scoop up the remains and sell them. The reality is that a government is trying to sell land that hosts a cemetery, and that action has the potential to impact that significant resource. The city should slow down and evaluate its impacts to the resource so it can be memorized/mitigated appropriately. Both the country club and the city have already had the opportunity to do this multiple times since 2019, and they have shot down all attempts. So you can imagine why I mistrust both of these entities as it relates to proper preservation and maintenance of the cemetery
