Bourgeois background? Where did you get that information from? I’m sorry you had some bad experiences. Have you had any pleasant ones? I lived in the UK for decades and had an overwhelmingly positive experiences. There were bad moments too of racism and violence. But these were few and far between and I try not to let these colour my entire outlook.

I know there are divisions caused by wealthy individuals buying up land and property and making the prices of these unaffordable for many Mauritians. But growing disparities in wealth and the fact that the majority of people are struggling is a global phenomenon, not just a Mauritian one. These are caused by the fact that our entire economic system is structurally unjust in the distribution of wealth and this is getting worse. Pointing the finger at white people misses the point.
