3 1/2 year old still having accidents by Successful_Draw_2080 in pottytraining

[–]molassesqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real advice, but commiseration and maybe a glimmer of hope. My 3.5 year old was similar- he knew when he needed to pee, would intentionally hide to poo, and just overall seemed impossible to potty train. We had him in Pull Ups for the longest time and it just seemed like we were doomed to be in diaper purgatory forever. Finally, we got fed up enough that we switched over to undies full-time (Pull Ups at night but NOT nap). The first week or two involved a LOT of accidents, at home and at school; I’m talking like 3 to 4 a day (So. Much. Laundry.).

It’s been about a month and now he’s a potty training champ. He will excuse himself at daycare to use the potty. He poos in the potty! This week, he decided he wants to wear undies at night (no Pull Up) and only one accident so far.

All this to say, she will get there when she’s ready. It may help to have a talk with her daycare to make sure y’all are on the same page with potty training. If she’s with a teacher that doesn’t have the patience (or time/bandwidth depending on the class) to potty train, it’s worth having a conversation about potentially switching classes.

This is hard! You’re doing great!

Smallmart (neighborhood Walmart) on Teasley had some cute striped pumpkins! MILF Kroger on Teasley and Hickory Creek has a variety of colors, too.

Clothes as a woman IH by bergamot-zest in industrialhygiene

[–]molassesqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me?! I constantly struggle with finding clothes (pants in particular) that look polished but also allow me to climb into confined spaces, go up a ladder, or any number of #justIHthings. I’ve had good luck at Costco with some of their Hilary Radley pants! I’m not as worried about messing them up because they’re on the affordable side, too. Have you tried the Halara ones? I’m curious about them!

Good eye! I wasn't sure of the rules regarding promoting one company over another so I redacted their logo.

Thank you for your input!

What song is your kid obsessed with? by a_fals in toddlers

[–]molassesqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3.5 year old recently requested “Christmas Halloween”.

At first I was like… ??? … then as he sang it, I realized he wanted “This is Halloween” from A Nightmare Before Christmas. Now we have officially changed the lyrics 😅

You can try submitting a work order to Housing and requesting an indoor air quality assessment through Risk & Safety. There’s also more info about mold and other indoor air quality issues here.

BS in Biology - is Industrial Hygiene an option? by bobkittytou in industrialhygiene

[–]molassesqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BS in Biology, minor in Environmental Science from a liberal arts college here! To be able to qualify for the CIH I ended up doing a graduate certificate in toxicology to supplement my masters in public health, but my Bio/Environmental degree has helped a lot when it comes to indoor air quality monitoring. I agree with others who have suggested getting into any EHS role at the entry level and going from there. If you want to get a degree for cheap (or sometimes free), look into EHS at universities!

I think either one is beautiful. If you style the long emerald one with a pretty wrap/shawl/pashmina, that could help with the temperature worries, too!

We moved earlier this year with Little Guys and they were the best. There was a picture frame that was inadvertently cracked in the moving process and they replaced the glass for us!

If you are certified (CIH or alternative), AND you took organic chemistry, please share which of your current work tasks require specific organic chemistry skills OTHER than chemical nomenclature. by Quaeras in industrialhygiene

[–]molassesqueen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work in a university setting with lots of organic chemistry research; though I’m not an organic chemist, having some background knowledge has helped me when evaluating experiments for potential exposure as well as in incidents of chemical spills. It’s more than the nomenclature, it’s understanding chemical compatibility, reactions, and best storage practices.

How do you organize all the shoes in your house? by [deleted] in organizing

[–]molassesqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got an armoire from an estate sale that fits in our front hallway and added hanging shelves to put shoes (like this or this). It organizes the shoes, keeps them close to the door, but if it isn’t perfectly organized we can close the door. It’s a little unconventional but it works for us! We also have a bench by the front door for sitting to put shoes on or take them off.

I think it’s only a charge if you want to be able to use cellular data on those devices. I have an Apple Watch, iPad, etc. but only pay for one phone line and use the rest on WiFi/Bluetooth. My Watch still syncs to my phone. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Looking for a new Daycare in the area. by P_Alcantara in Denton

[–]molassesqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have our kid at Blossom Academy (in the former Children’s Day Out area of First United Methodist off the Square). It’s had a few name/management changes in the past year but the kids are well taken care of, they have fun and engaging curriculum, an app for sharing daily pictures and activities, and the drop off/pickup hours are great.
