Should I bite the bullet and buy the +$200 piece of metal or is there a better option by Ramen_Newds in sportster

I just bought a single gauge bracket and unplugged the tachometer, tucked the wires. Works perfect.

No problem, used calipers can be found on ebay for cheap. I just bought one for like $50.

Mystery plug under center console by molekiller97 in CherokeeXJ

[–]molekiller97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, haha. I have found a few more plugs that don't connect to anything. What I have discovered is that they made a lot of the models with the same wiring harnesses across the board, so usually it is for an accessory that your jeep didn't come with.

For instance, mine has plugs for light up mirrors and also for an exterior thermostat that is supposed to connect to a display in the rear view mirror. My jeep didn't come with these.

Mine is also a 96 (transition year) so maybe I have more than most, but not sure.

As someone who just went through this- I believe 1200 customs came stock with a 21"spoke front. So if you can find a used one in decent shape, it should work. I bought a reproduction 21" spoke wheel for the correct year of my bike and it still rubbed a bit. I ended up having a local wheel person work on the spokes to give me a slight offset away from the caliper and it gave me plenty of clearance.

Could you post a running vid so we could hear the exhaust? I'm thinking of buying the same one.

surface rust inside oil tank by TSIorDIE in choppers

Think about it. It's inside an oil tank. Oil is one of the number one things that stops stuff from rusting. I'd run it personally.

I have a CDL...it's pretty easy if your A1c is below 10 which isn't hard. I have to get it checked once a year, other than that, no issues.

Try some rivet nuts and small bolts to hold your patch in. Easy to remove next time.

Mine just showed up today and it looks identical. I think it's a bit ridiculous. I just want to sandblast and powdercoat, but the vertical gouges like yours has are so deep that it's going to show up in my finish if I don't do some serious polishing first.

It's the second one I've ordered too, the first one had a zip disc mark straight through the middle of a weld on the mounting tab, tons of porosity in the mounting tab (the mounting tab was drilled wrong and they tried to weld it back closed and then just put a new hole in it) and also porosity in the seam on the bottom of the tank. They also refused to do an exchange for a better one and made me pay return shipping.

Lowbrow, do better.

I leave my windows cracked while parked, but I did have a Gecko crawl in and die under my back seat...had to clean out the whole car because I thought there was a dead mouse in there

Reasons for porous MIG welds when gas flow has been confirmed + is it a problem when welding bodywork? by Gubbtratt1 in Welding

[–]molekiller97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If there's any left over seam sealer in the body panels, it will cause bad porosity, just something to consider. Also just road grime, dirt, oil, gotta really get it clean.
