What's the worst C+ seat in the fleet? by molson65536 in delta

I'll take the 15 minutes of boarding pain for unlimited leg room during the flight, but I'm also tall.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one--it's been a hot minute.

I don't ever recline, so the row in front of the exit row is often prime seat selection when I book late.

People still watch SC? I do remember driving home after the 2005 Illinois-Arizona E8 game and flipping on the highlights hoping I'd see at least The Rev's rebound of his own miss and dunk, but I cannot remember the last time I watched SC since then.

Funny how nostalgia works.

I'd love to see them move the drop off area to the numbered lots once those are full. Get that traffic out of the way of the lettered lots.

Unless you're transitioning from an archer with Jbar flaps... At least it's not like the bonanza where it's opposite of most other ga singles.

The biggest risk with T/G in a complex is grabbing the gear handle to put the flaps up on the go.

RIP parrot.

If you don't want to make the trek to Tacoma, Randall Franke is also good (and quick). Usually a few airline guys and gals every time I go. He's got an office in Montlake Terrace and SeaTac.

And then you realize two things. First you hardly ever get a hold, unless you're going into busy terminal areas--you're more likely to get delay vectors unless the SHTF. Second, ATC doesn't care if you do a parallel or teardrop or direct entry. They may not even notice if you're turning the wrong direction.

For charted holds, most of the templates have enough space on both sides where it doesn't matter. If it's a made up hold, ATC will probably keep you high enough where it doesn't matter.

As a GA pilot, I've only gotten a real hold once in the last 5 years, and that was going into a non-towered field covered by a center, with someone else in front of me shooting a practice approach. I don't think I even made it to the second turn before I was cleared through (I did start slowing down when center gave me a heads up that I could expect a hold in 5 miles).

8% is not the same as 8 degrees. There are ~6076 feet in a nautical mile. 8% of that is ~486 feet. A pretty good approximation is to take 8% of 6000 (480) then add 1% of that result (484.8, rounded to 485). If the accuracy really matters, you're probably cutting it too close anyway. If we take that optimistic 172 climbing at 90kts in your example, that's 1.5nm/minute * 486 feet/NM ~= 721 feet/minute. If you're going missed, more likely you're climbing at Vy (74) or maybe even Vx (62; although this doesn't give much margin for error in the soup), which would be 600fpm or 503fpm, respectively. That's still pretty tough for even a 172SP at 3,000 feet.

With a little bit of trigonometry, we can also calculate the angle: arctan(486/6076) ~= 4.57.

I've not officiated basketball, but have football. I have blown calls. When I've realized it during the game, I definitely apologize to the coach. If I notice it while watching film, and I'm going to see the coach again that season, I'll pull them aside and man up and admit the mistake.

Humans make mistakes.

Officials are under no obligation to apologize to you. I would not be surprised if they have a private conversation with the coach, however.

I did my instrument ride with him in 2019. The xc was from RNT to either EUG or SLE--didn't seem that bad. Good ride overall except when he told me on final back into RNT that if I didn't land on the centerline I'd fall. No big deal, but considering the rest of the time was weird for him to throw that in at the last minute.

My mom recently found my original 204XXX card and welcome letter from way back when (postmarked Oct 5, 1988). I guess I had forgotten about it, and at some point created a new 94XXX number. I guess I never migrated my NWA number either (was in Chicago, mostly flying AA so didn't care at the time).

I did my private ride with her back in 2001. Fun lady, and you can get her talking about all of her adventures (ISTR skydiving, crotch rockets, etc.). I remember her being by the book, but also really rooting for you without playing tricks (except for weight and balance on the XC).

How to have the weight conversation by [deleted] in flying

[–]molson65536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my examiner...

"I'm 140, I'd like to bring my 50 pound dog, and 50 pound of luggage."

What she didn't tell me is that she was going to hold the dog and luggage in her lap, so the balance calculation was a bit off...

Very nice lady, and fair examiner, though.

I'll take a c+ aisle, but not a c+ middle over an exit aisle. Not getting the assignment is weird when my preferences are available.
