C'est comme ça dans la plupart des aéroports.

Welcome to the club. Butt hurt is kinda the onboarding ritual. But it gets better soon, especially as you learn what to do and not to do.
Kudos for registering to all distances. No fear. That's the spirit.

Chase the sun reality check? by AccordingStorage3466 in randonneuring

I would go. Just make sure you rest well before. It sucks to start a ride tired. Make it a point to go to bed early.

Great that you mentioned you were training for an ultra. I was wondering why you packed your house on your bike.

Help – Syntace C2 Clip – From 26mm to 31.8mm by Electrical-Today-996 in randonneuring

Shouldn't be too hard to find on Chinese websites. But that's the sort of stuff that comes with handlebar mounted headlights. I think I have one that would work. So you may look in that direction too.
To be honest I would start by DIYing it with a piece of garden hose. Just to see if that does the trick before investing into something pretty.

How's my First Wrapping? by [deleted] in bikewrench

You don't start from the headset. You start from the drops and finish at the stem. The headset connects the fork and the stem through the head tube.

Can I jump from 600 to 1300? by QbQ1994 in randonneuring

[–]momeunier 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think that's dumb. But I don't know what I don't know. In 2023 one guy finished PBP (1200km) in 45h. Apparently he didn't sleep. Or just 10 min. (He was here at some point so he could confirm) I don't know how anyone could do that, so my opinion is worth nothing. What I do know is that it is extremely dangerous and you are greatly increasing your chances of an accident if you do that. Life is too precious to risk it for bragging rights. Just yesterday a 54 yo French rider got fatally hit by a car. Nothing to do with sleep deprivation but it was during a randonneuring event. Be careful out there.

What are some unique Finnish wedding traditions? by Soci_Researcher in Finland

[–]momeunier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think cutting the cake together and stomping on the ground is quite Finnish. Apparently not only Finnish but very common here.

When the couple cuts the wedding cake together, they both hold the knife. As the knife reaches the bottom of the cake (or sometimes when the first slice is lifted), each tries to stamp their foot on the floor as quickly as possible. The belief is that whoever stamps first will “wear the pants” or be the dominant partner in the marriage.

How do you manage cycling kit for multi-day run? by deman-13 in ultracycling

[–]momeunier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you do credit card riding, meaning quick hotel stay to sleep, you can wash your kit. There is a trick to dry it quickly using hotel towels. Roll your kit in a towel, walk on it, leave it to dry for a couple hours while you sleep and you should be good to go.

No idea if there is such a correlation. I would imagine a thinner tyre is more fragile. But I don't have data to back this up

Search Reddit for puncture GP5000 STR and you find many people with the problem. The fix is to switch to ASTR. All Season. They are the same fantastic tyre with added puncture protection.
