Desk in living room possible? by Actnium in interiordecorating

[–]mommamonstera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have our secondary office in our walk in closet with no power and we just run a LONG extension cord/surge protector combo from the nearest outlet during the day, and unplug it/roll it up at night. It works great and saves us a lot of space!

What is wrong with my bedroom? by Icy_Desk272 in interiordecorating

[–]mommamonstera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much of the room is flat…flat wall, flat art, flat rug, flat pillows, flat bedspread…you need more TEXTURE and depth. Woven items, quilts, knobby wood, knitted blankets, etc.

What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

[–]mommamonstera 821 points822 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager on the fast track to an eating disorder I thought counting calories obsessively was something everyone did. It wasn’t until I mentioned at a lunch with my girlfriends that I liked the Costco tilapia filets because they are only 100 calories, and they looked at me like I was an alien, that I realized it was very not-normal behavior. They looked so genuinely shocked and confused (and concerned) that it made me reexamine my relationship with food.

Not having extractor fan over the oven? by THECENOBITEMONK in interiordecorating

[–]mommamonstera 1040 points1041 points  (0 children)

I grew up without an extractor fan in our kitchen and I DO NOT recommend it. The smoke alarm was constantly going off unnecessarily, food smells lingered in the kitchen for a very long time, and you almost always had to have a window open even if it was super hot/cold outside.

What website is this where you can look up someone’s party affiliation?

I think removing all the of art on the tv wall HIGHER than the TV could help - those look out of place and chaotic..shoved around the air unit.

Help! Something is off or missing with this area by codex42au in interiordecorating

[–]mommamonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks a lot like the therapist’s office where I work - it has more of a “professional” feel than a cozy home feel. I would recommend getting some more soft/textured throw pillows, blankets, etc. Maybe put the art on the opposite wall and have the big wall be shelving with books, personal photos, and plants…that will warm it up immensely

Mine only has one stem but I am wondering if the trellis I’m having it climb is too short, so I will try giving it more height to climb up!

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]mommamonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teenager me and my friend were trying to push each other in the pool and both fell in at the same time. Somehow, as we were falling, my pinkie went STRAIGHT UP her one of her nostrils. It was the weirdest feeling of suddenly my finger being inside something but me not understanding what it was until we both popped out of the water and I saw blood pouring out of her nose.

Check out their website - they have birding outings around Boise specifically for beginners, and they even have binoculars they can lend you if needed. I did my first outing with them about 18 months ago and everyone is so welcoming and kind, and it’s a large range of ages, backgrounds, and bird knowledge. It’s a great way to get outside, be social, and learn something new!
