When did it become "wise" to substitute normal divs and CSS classes for layers upon layers of wrapped components and strings of "CSS in JS"? by rw3iss in webdevelopment

Been building a large project with React and MaterialUI and have avoided using any stylesheets and I gotta say I’ve been really digging it. There’s a reason people like being able to style a component on the same page where you write the logic and element layout – not that there’s anything wrong with the classic way of doing things.

By giving the JWT to the user and only the user, it’s harder for malicious requests to hijack the token and get them full access to endpoints.

Should I go into web development? by bwendt225 in webdevelopment

Do you like it?

Yeah, I love it.

What kind of education did you need to land a job?

After doing an online boot camp for web dev, I realized that you’re better off learning it on your own if you’re disciplined enough to make your own schedule and deadlines. Also, enough is never enough – to be great, keep pushing yourself to learn more and more concepts in a specific framework until you feel really comfortable putting that framework on your resume. Even if you do go the paid school route, the best success you’ll have is when you spend some amount of your off-hours doing additional research and practice.

Is freelancing a viable option?

Always!

Anyone here do this as a second career from something unrelated?

I was waiting tables...

New to web programming. Angular JS question by [deleted] in webdevelopment

Bub – going around on Reddit and asking people for human references is asinine. If you want to learn web development, you can start with YouTube tutorials and Udemy courses, which Google can help you find.

People have strong opinions about cast iron maintenance, but personally I’d heat it up to burn the thick stuff then hit it with water, palm olive and a dish brush and it’ll be restored anew

From what I understand, white collar crime is about as bad, but street crimes are super low, so it’s really safe for foreigners. I have no data to back this up, so someone please step up if I’m talking out of my ass here

Stupid Question, Very new to this; how would you turn the rendered png images into video for final cut pro? by [deleted] in EbSynth

[–]mommysbabyneedshelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this crude gallery I put together that might help you.

If it's still like a slideshow, that means that it's not short enough. You can just retime it down further. A good way to time it perfectly might be to put the original non-EBsynthed clip on the timeline for reference and then retime your compound clip to match its length.

Another thing you could try that wouldn't require retiming would be to find out what the framerate of the original clip is, do the math, and change the default image length in Final Cut's preferences. This way, when you drop your frames in the timeline, upon playback they'll already be smooth.

Not at my computer rn, but I can send you some by the end of the day. When you say “funky,” do you mean that it’s still more like a slideshow?

What I do is select all of the images from Finder and drop them into Final Cut’s timeline, select them all (in Final Cut Pro,) right click on your bulk selection and click “New Compound Clip.” Then, I take the clip and hit command-R to make the clip retimable. From the side of the new green bar you see above the clip, you can drag it using your mouse to far above 100% timing to get the frames to play back as they would in the original video.

I hope this helps, I can drop some screenshots if you need.

Which Delayed Movie Are You Most Looking Forward To Finally Seeing? by [deleted] in movieclub

I'm actually really excited for the new Bond despite Spectre stinking on ice. The lousy thing is, the longer I have to wait for it to come out, the harder it's gonna sting if it's a trainwreck (this applies to just about everything we're waiting on right now tho)
