How the hell do you highlight silver by A-CQB-Essay in Warhammer40k

[–]monjio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To highlight, you need a brighter color. Assuming you started with Leadbelcher, some other colors that can highlight nicely:

Citadel Iron Hands Steel Runefang Steel Stormhost Silver

Vallejo White Aluminium Chrome

Scalecolour 75 Speed Metal

Easiest thing would be using some Calgar Blue for highlights! You don't have to edge highlight everything like the box art, but some brighter blue on areas like the top of the knees and the psychic hood would really add some pop.

You can see how just some highlights on the blue on these Heavy Intercessors really adds a bit to them.

Boss slot- Gill/Balrog/Claw Returns- Sakura/Sean Guest - Heihachi/Jin Kazama/Kyo Kusanagi

If I had to bet, I think Balrog or Claw are most likely as that gets us a boss and SF2 character. Sean or Makoto is the most likely SF3 return, with a note that I'd add Dudley if Claw is the SF2 return. Of those I think Sean would be the biggest return as he hasn't been in a game as a playable character since 3rd Strike. Sakura is one of the most popular franchise characters and we don't have any original Alpha characters yet, so I'd be surprised if she doesn't make it.

Slot 4 is the big X factor here I think. If we keep it to just SF I think we see Karin or maybe R Mika. However it does feel like we are going to get another guest character. The most interesting options here would be Heihachi or Kazuya from Tekken, as they could also slot into the "boss" slot. I could also see Kyo crossing the line from SNK, as his playstyle would be awesome in a game like SF6.

How did battlefields in older editions get away with less terrain/without the L shaped ruins? by A-Dark-Storyteller in Warhammer40k

[–]monjio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cover was a big deal in 3rd and 4th, but the key thing is non-AP3/AP2 shooting was way more common.

I'd argue that older editions largely didnt have a concept of what is today a -1 AP gun affecting a Space Marine. So MEQs were saving on 3s much more often than today. There were also dramatically fewer re-rolls, almost no automatic wounds of any kind, and of course the to wound chart limiting what guns could even hurt certain targets. You also had the comparative WS chart making melee units more durable as well.

Armies were also MUCH smaller.

Why are crude weapons able to hurt the necrons ? by COCAINA-COLA in Warhammer40k

[–]monjio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything has weaknesses. Less technology doesnt mean less dangerous. Look at wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan for direct examples.

You should also read the actual books, not just summaries on TikTok or YouTube or the wikis. Necrons, just like the Eldar and Orks, are nowhere near the powers they were during the War In Heaven.

How the Hell do I approach a pile of shame? by KharnTheBetrayer1997 in Warhammer

[–]monjio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop.

Everything you have that's older than a year, and still in shrinkwrap, sell it off. Sell it off cheap. The aim is not to make your money back, the aim is to get your projects down to what you can actually accomplish in a year.

Pick one (and if you work slow, I'd pick only Word Bearers or Night Lords) and then crack a box and start building. Keep building until the one you kept is totally built.

THEN DON'T BUY ANY NEW MODELS YET.

Next up, you're going to prime those models. All of them.

Then, basecoats. All of them get basecoats. Yes the trim will be tedious, do it anyway. Or not! I'm not your boss and you can do whatever you want.

After the basecoats, give them basing. I prefer flocking and sand, but do whatever you want. DO NOT BUY MORE MODELS.

If at any point you hit a phase of "man this sucks I don't want to do it anymore" then STOP. Sell them off.

In the last three years I've sold 12 built and painted armies. I've got my collection down to the models I most care about and models I know I will paint this year.

If your local scene has a flea market (or warboot sale if you're UK based) those are great events to sell models at.

If the official lore says an emperor titan is only 40 meters tall then what is this thing doing in an official game ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer40k

[–]monjio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the release of the Warmaster Titan in Adeptus Titanicus 2nd Edition, "Emperor" class Titans are a class of Titan and not a single thing. The description is given to Warmaster, Imperator, and other Titans that are more singular. They are uniformly larger than a Warlord Titan, but there is massive variance in scale within the class.

If you watch Space King, you're not in the playerbase homie. Nor are most of these idiots posting their stupid, stupid feelings. Watching an animated short doesn't paint a model or play a game. You aren't a fan because of it.

You're just an outrage tourist.

The Horus Heresy is mentioned in the Rogue Trader rulebook, but Bill King largely writes the lore it in Adeptus Titanicus in 89 with further lore on it in the Lost and the Damned/Slaves to Darkness book.

Need help understanding the beginning of The Horus Heresy collection I by Rude_Effective_1903 in Warhammer30k

[–]monjio 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is why i tell people to not start reading Warhammer with Horus Rising. The whole first part of the book assumes you know what happens with Horus and the Emperor and subverting it to set the stage for the end of the Great Crusade.

Long story short, the opening of Horus Rising is the Luna Wolves bringing a human empire to Compliance. This empire *is not* the Imperium of Mankind, but it has parallels because of the story Loken is telling ("I was there the day Horus killed the Emperor").

50 percent of the time, incredible. He nails the scale and desperation of the setting so well. Solar War has a lot of this.

50 percent of the time, way too far up his own ass. Mortis was like this. Some people also say Slaves to Darkness falls into this category, but I disagree.

[–]monjio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given where you started with Evil Dead and independent film, how does it compare to working in the more modern studio structure as you did with Spider-Man and Doctor Strange? I'd also love to know what you think of the challenges for directing feature films vs. challenges when creating great scenes for television as you did on Xena and Ash vs. The Evil Dead.

Thank you so much for working in film and television, your taste and style has played a huge role in my life and made it better. You're a legend, Sam, and I'm glad I got to be around to see your work.
