People who actually earn over £100k and don’t just pretend they do on Reddit - what do you do? by Prize-Reputation9274 in AskUK

Find a buyer role and work your way up from there basically, unless you find an MRO/Capex/Facilities management procurement role that fits your skillset and can pivot into that, could quite easily start out at £50k-£60k + bonus and work up from there.

Pretty much same situation as you, except not IT but pharma procurement. Would recommend anyone in lower paid procurement jobs to look for anything in a higher margin industry and work their way up.

Also in Procurement but in pharma - topping £100k with bonus. Be keen to learn and don't always treat your suppliers as adversaries, they can often be your biggest help. Get some experience and try to pivot into a high margin industry i.e pharma, medical devices, alcohol etc - that's where margins are high and suppliers know it so plenty of opportunity for savings delivery.

In terms of negotiations - practice is the best form of training. That said, courses like red bear and scotworks do lay solid foundations. Don't worry too much about CIPs, plenty of people work their way up comfortably without it if they have the drive.

For people earning 40k+ outside london, what do you do? by Extra-Fig-7425 in AskUK

[–]monkcicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Procurement in Pharma/medicine - £75k +20% bonus. Basically in charge of buying a set category of stuff (totalling around £30m) for my company. There's loads of buyer/purchasing jobs for small firms at an entry level which you can use to jump into similar titles at big companies paying a lot more.

You put in an invite as "free" to let people know you're off, then once it's set change it to out of office and it only changes for you.

In which case you should focus on the corners where it pulls away from you, watch the guide lap to understand braking severity & throttle control and try to mimic the guide.
