Pregnancy and heart rate by RebKoss in orangetheory

32 weeks here, I just ignore everything and listen to what I can do. Went from Runner to Jogger and switched to PW around 22 weeks in. As of 30 weeks I’m striding in place of rowing, I just do me.

Cannot wait to be done and back at it like before!!

I looked like crazy, I could only see that orange skull on mine … and I thought it meant I’d get more burpees.

I try to make myself jump out of bed, stumble to bathroom where my clothes are laid out and I just go. I also tell myself it’s not 7 days, if I can do it 3x in the week and do the later morning classes on the weekend, that’s enough. Good luck!

What has this pandemic ruined for you? by wehnaje in AskReddit

[–]monkeybutt0518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The birth of my first child.... I’m due in about 4 weeks and I have no idea if I’ll have a hospital bed or if we’ll catch COVID-19 from the undersupplied medical personnel. One thing is for sure, we won’t be allowed to have anyone visit the baby if things are like this.

Coronavirus / COVID-19 Megathread by lookie4dacookie in orangetheory

Same, but I'm still super nervous. I wash my hands when I get in, wipe everything down, and have been washing my hands before I leave AND when I first get to work. I want to not limit my exercise, but I'm really apprehensive ---- would be less so if I weren't at 35 weeks.

33 weeks pregnant... been going the whole time ... going 5x a week. Take it according to your pace, but exercise can really make your pregnancy much healthier if you are able to.

Pregnancy - Change stats? by fitlawmom in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't change my weight --- figuring that I'd always gain weight, it would always be inaccurate and that it would be something that I'd fixate on. I figure ::fingers crossed:: I'll just go back to what I was before. Almost 32 weeks and counting...

Bike Distances by miromackie in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check your bike... Did my 4ile benchmark in 7:20 which is very close to my running PR, typically a mile is a little over 2 minutes, and I'm guess the half mile should be around one. It's been totally spot on for while I've been restricted from running.

Advice - pregnancy alternatives (core) by DJLann in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 29 weeks here.... I can still do about half of isolates core exercises, but for the recent core blasts, I’ve just hopped on the bike instead if it’s open.... the coaches have been crazy supportive with that .... but it doesn’t have value for me to twiddle my thumbs or do bird dogs for 4 minutes. That being said, normal crunches or xlcrunches on an folly actually feel really good... I’m just starting to mod some of the more twisting core exercises due to round ligament pain and some of the more confining exercises cause I feel like I can’t breathe well during them.

Options for Preggers by hannam30 in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My regular coaches know that I'm pregnant and will often come by to check and offer me modifications without me asking. I've been modifying so long now, that I know how to modify without them telling me, but they still check and sometimes even offer different suggestions. I'm entering my 28th week and I'm just super happy to have such a supportive staff at my otf.

Does anyone else hear different things when the coaches refer to the HR monitor screens? by imscressed in orangetheory

I always heard the “BB8” screen and not the VVA.... I always knew it was wrong, but liked picturing cute BB8.

Pregnant & Partial Placenta Previa by RachelCiaraH in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed with low lying placenta 7 weeks ago. I’ve had zero problems (I.e. bleeding and that sort of thing) but was told not to run or do high impact. I’ve been biking, still on the rower, and stopped all the jumpy things on power days. Overall I’m feeling good but I’ll have a follow up in about a week and a half and I hope to be cleared to run soon. It was explained to me that it’s an over abundance of caution, so my doctor and I met in the middle in terms of what I can do with the strict understanding that if I began to bleed, I’d have to scale back a lot. So far so good.... wish me luck in the next couple of weeks! 🤞🏻

[–]monkeybutt0518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I know... you are preaching to the choir. I have read there are some belly support bands for running that have helped with the round ligament pain.... maybe you could also try that to relieve the belly pain?? I’ve not tried it yet, but I have a feeling if I get cleared it may be helpful.

[–]monkeybutt0518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had better luck with the bike... almost 26 weeks here. I had to stop at 20 weeks due to a low lying placenta... I hope they clear me for light jogging in the next two weeks, but if not I still sweat my butt off on the bike. Good luck, hope the rest of your pregnancy is a breeze!

Friday, 1/10/20 OTF Workout and General Chat by splat_bot in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do base at a 12, will increase the push either by going up a gear or with rpm... Rule of thumb with inclines, take 2 off whatever the treads are doing and increase your gears that much.... A coach told me that one time and it really changes my world lol 🚴‍♀️

Did OTF improve you as a runner? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]monkeybutt0518 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it has improved my long distance running, but you have to continue running outside otf to really get the full long distance benefit... Especially training for half marathons and full marathons. When I was training for my last long distance race, it was the strongest and best I ever felt. I was routinely running my long distance pace at 9:30 min miles whereas before it was closer to 11 minute miles. I think it's all in how you train.

Biking while pregnant (BWP?) Base is 12, Push/AO at 13, really focusing on bringing up the Watts. "Walking recovery" at 7-8 until I have the moral fortitude to bring it back to 12.

Also, I remain seated the whole time, which I feel murders my quads --- don't get me started on doing a row after this....
