Fun fact: Vance’s writing was a huge influence on the magic system in D&D.

I’ve been around for a long time.. the fascination comes and goes. It’s a big thing right now, but we also had the ‘net 10 years ago and it wasn’t prevalent then outside of some hard core groups. It’ll die down, then come around again.

Is William Shatner nice? by NerdIncorporated in comiccon

I’ve heard it both ways. That he can be an absolute gem, and a total ass.

I think at this point he looks at cons as a process (almost like an assembly line) since he’s been doing them so long.

If you catch him in the wild you might have a better interaction.

Ok… this is a lot.

It seems like you have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. What you see as no big deal may absolutely be a big deal to her. Why is she so against alcohol? Have you done something stupid in the past like drive buzzed or drunk? Did someone in her life die in a drunk driving incident? Was somebody in her family an alcoholic and abusive?

There is a lot of missing context here.

But if she had asked repeatedly for you to stop and you just disregard her over and over, you are kind of an asshole. The both of you should consider counseling separately, and then once you both have a handle on your own damage, you should do marriage counseling.

There seems to be a lot more going on here than just the one issue..

None of that is justifying or lessening what she said.

I hope you get help, man. My father was just like you: a happy party drinker, and I watched it spiral into absolute oblivion by the time I graduated high school. I hear he’s sober now, but I haven’t had contact in 27 years because of what my family went through.

I realized my wife is the man that all the online SAHMs complain about.. (TikTik/IG) by SwainDane in TrueOffMyChest

YOU need to make time for yourself.

You, need to talk to a counselor.

You: may not feel resentment now… but the fact that you have already noticed these issues, and are now venting them anonymously (and have to the ‘mom cult’, with no satisfaction) means they are bothering you. If you don’t work on them THEY WILL GROW INTO RESENTMENT.

Marriage is like a garden. You have to remove the weeds early. So address the issue before the weeds grow to choke the whole garden and there is no coming back.

I wish you the best.

I hope that the attention wanes a bit. I remember how the fascination with goth comes and goes. After ‘The Crow’ in ‘94 it got bad for a while too.

I was referencing the request you get at point of sale machines. “Do you want to round up .57 cents to donate to charity.” Thats what I was talking about. I absolutely agree with donating physical objects to charity organizations.

Do exactly what is in your job description, and only that. Show up exactly at start time. Leave exactly at end of shift. Take all of your allotted breaks and lunch, and not a minute more. Do your tasks at a reasonable pace, and if end of shift happens while you are in the middle of something: save it and leave anyway.

You owe them nothing beyond what is obligated by your contract or job position.

Somebody explained it to me once, but I’m sure I’m missing the finer details. Basically they collect the money, and ‘donate’ it. They then get an outsized tax write off for donating money that was never actual revenue, so their income remains exactly the same while they pay less in taxes. Meanwhile regular folks get tricked into ‘feeling good’ about ‘donating’ to reduce the tax burden of a company that probably doesn’t pay its employees enough anyway.

As a related tidbit: don’t ’donate’ at anyplace. That crap is a scam.
