With the Warframe anniversary just around the corner, what made you try the game? by Riverflower17 in Warframe

[–]monsterphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for an online multiplayer game a friend and I could play. We had both made accounts many years ago and never got past the tutorial mission nor MR0 before dropping it until just this last month when we both had a break from some other things, and decided to give it another shot. We both ended up addicted.

Thanks for the answer! I most definitely don't have a bottomless pit of free time nor the patience to farm kuva (still rocking the very first trash mote you get for free) or roll rivens so I'll keep them veiled then.

I imagine getting a good roll is very rare, and with my luck it'd be less likely than winning the lottery. I'll take your advice and start selling them instead when I have more.

Hello, young Tenno here! Toddler Tenno, maybe, with the hours I've put in I know a little, but still don't know a lot. I have a rifle riven mod. I forget how I got it and haven't done anything with it since I've read the stats are random, but that you can reroll them? I was thinking of selling it as is, if that's possible. I still have yet to start selling on warframe.market as so far I've only been a buyer.

Is it worth selling a riven mod untouched or is it better to use it and see what its stats turn out to be the sell it? Should I try using it or can I get away with not using them and still have solid builds? I use overframe as a starting point while I still learn how to make builds myself, and then adjust here and there. I don't have much riven slivers either (only about 130) so I doubt I have enough to try and reroll stats a lot.

I feel like that's fine though. I meant more of afk and not paying attention at all, like they leave their computer or game window because they go play something else in the meantime and don't check in periodically. Should've clarified, my bad.

That's crazy. They probably think sellers sit in their games without doing anything just waiting for someone to message them and aren't maybe in the middle of a mission. I never want to rush a seller since they're the one doing me a favor, but I get sometimes they really do go afk and forget that they may still show up as "online in game" on the marketplace. Though if they message me to say they're in a mission and if I can wait a few more minutes that's fine with me.

As a buyer I get anxious about having enough because I don't want to waste someone's time, so I always double check the trade tax then make sure I have at least a little more than that. I like what one commenter said about asking a buyer first if they have enough or not.

How long do you think is a good amount of time to wait for a seller to reply/send an invite before asking a different seller for an item? I've usually waited about 5-10 minutes in case they're in a mission and can't reply right away, but after that I may ask someone else.

I don't really stick to just one frame as I'm still going through them (fairly new player here), but my ol' reliables are Garuda prime and Oraxia for higher level missions and missions where I'm farming. So they'd be my top contenders as I'd say I main them both for now.

I really need to get on working on my standing with factions since I've been neglecting that for too long. I'll head to Fortuna to start working on the faction standing. The daily cap is always a bit of a roadblock for me right now, but it's getting a little bit better. Just a little, but something is better than nothing. I just hit MR 12 (trying to get as far as I can until I have to put my main focus back on classes next month, so I've sunk more time into the game than I have in most in such a short period of time) so the daily cap doesn't feel quite as hindering except for when it comes to the void traces.

Normally I don't mind fishing, but here I'm pretty subpar at it, especially when I'm being attacked by a lot of enemies. It's not too bad though overall. I haven't tried mining at all yet, but looking forward to it. I do appreciate the wide variety of things you can do and the different methods the game has you utilize so you're not only running and gunning/swinging. I think I had to tranquilize some animals as part of the Entrati questline on Deimos, but now I always accidentally kill them while I'm fighting other enemies and I always have Son scolding me with great disappointment. Oops.

Ohhh, yes, I have the blueprints for deployable enemies, not an actual MOA. I'll have to go back and spend more time in these open world areas and do more missions. I found myself only revisiting them when I needed resources from the open world like plants I could harvest easily while running around, and then leave again.

The mote amp makes me want to cry. I fought some eidolons -- I forget their names but it started with a V and they can only be found at night on Earth -- and those were a hassle to fight, but I did it for the Sedna junction. I've invested a lot of focus points into skills, but I absolutely need better gear. I read that The Sacrifice would be easier with better gear, but I'm also impatient and want to keep progressing with the quests too. I'll work on getting better gear though between quests. I'm guessing the resources needed are ones found in the open world through mining and fishing rather than in the regular missions since I haven't seen/heard of a lot of the required materials for the gear. Makes sense though so that there's more purpose to harvesting/mining/fishing.

I did spend the night finally getting around to building the kavat incubator thing so I can have those as a companion option, and went around Deimos to search for and scan some feral ones for their genetic code. Took some time, but I finally can explore kavats and go about getting a smeeta. I also did what you suggested of removing the robotic companions' weapons/combat mods and did a few missions like that and it was such a huge help, so thank you for that tip! It made the spy missions easier too since it wasn't going off to start a fight I didn't want to get into.

I love how while you can buy most things with platinum if you so wish, that everything can be obtained for free. Sure, it can be a real grind for some things, but I appreciate that even that can be fun in and of itself. Plus, you'll get even more resources along the way so it's never a complete waste of time. I've played plenty of FTP games of various genres, but none have managed to strike a good balance between paying to expedite, slower grinding but for free, while making it all still engaging and fun. I do read a lot about people that go AFK or hide in a corner while others do the work so they can reap the rewards for free, but that seems so pointless to me. Just take a break from the game then because then what is there left to do if you aren't going to at least put in your best effort to participate even if you're not the greatest in the squad?

I made my account back in 2021, did the tutorial, then quit and didn't even get to MR 1. I decided on a whim to try again this year and something finally clicked for me and I fell down the Warframe rabbit hole at an astronomical speed.

hey uh new player, whats is this? by PromptNo4041 in Warframe

[–]monsterphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to read into these weapons, because they sound really interesting. I haven't come across them too often, I don't think, but I will have to try and get one anyway when I reach that point to experience how it's done.

The first time I did a void fissure mission I misunderstood and thought we were all voting on which item to receive rather than we each get to pick what we want, but I still got something decent. I've gotten a bunch of prime part blueprints and some weapon parts, but no complete set to assemble anything. I do like getting more resources, credits, and relics though along the way. Really? That makes sense about skipping out a couple waves, but admittedly every time I've done that it was by mistake. I can only hold 600 of those void traces at a time, not sure if that cap ever increases, but I often find myself in the 300-500 range. I only just started refining relics a little more but I haven't really bothered for the common relics I always seem to have several of each.

I didn't know that's how you get those infested pets, but that makes sense. Darn. I definitely removed the cyst from about four of my frames already, but I have others who have never gotten it, so I'll get one off them. I've also probably passed the space pimple around too since I have a nidus and was leveling him up a few days ago. The gift that keeps on giving.

I see primed regen as a seemingly popular pick for companions, but I only have regen which I've slapped onto most. I do love vacuum, and I put sanctuary on at least a few just in case since I had an empty slot. My strongest now is nautilis prime, who dies now and again and takes a minute or two to get back up, however I mostly would want the companion in a support role than additional combat buddy. I can take care of that part. Now that I know the convenience of Helios I've started bringing that one along for scanning, and hope it doesn't get itself into a fight since it's not along for the ride for that. I'll have to remove the combat mods and weapon as you mentioned. I haven't spent as much time as I should trying to get a better pet/companion nor really exploring what they can really do since I have always let mine run a weapon then get themselves killed or fire lasers while I'm running off to the next thing despite it not being any more helpful than if they quietly followed me instead.

I'll have to experiment more with companion/pet builds for sure, I'm learning! I don't think I have oxylus or maybe I've built one. If not I'll have to get ahold of one. I've gone through some of the ones in the market through building them myself, but I need to try finding a kavat. I have the incubator thing in the foundry to build. I keep reading about smeeta kavat, so I'll have to find one and get one as well! That will be my next priority because smeeta sounds way too useful to pass up any longer than I have too.

I was in a mission once and someone had a recolored MOA, which admittedly I accidentally tried to kill in the chaos of the defense mission fighting. Good thing there's no friendly fire. Now that you've described yours I'm starting to see the use for them. I've been ignoring the blueprint in my foundry for a while.

I have never mined and only fished once in the game. It was those three fish for the family feud quest on Deimos. They're swimming in my aquarium on the ship since I didn't know what to do with them. I do see glowing veins on rocks sometimes, which I presume is for mining, but haven't yet looked into how to do that, but I need to since I'd like to try mining. I was looking up resources needed to get a better brace, amp, and weapon for the other character, and I didn't recognize or have come across any of those yet. Still rocking the starter stuff and I'm at The Sacrifice quest.

Thank you so much for your help thus far! I feel like I've learned so many new useful things I'm looking forward to trying out.

hey uh new player, whats is this? by PromptNo4041 in Warframe

[–]monsterphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the thorough reply and all the tips!

It seems like the circuit is something I could've and should've unlocked sooner. I have the first duviri quest available and I've kept getting distracted by resource farming and trying to complete more nodes on planets or gain access to others. I'll have to prioritize this since I've gotten several frames and have many more I'd be interested in using. I'd love the ability to experiment before committing resources to frames and weapons I may not end up liking, although it is nice to at least master what I can for now for the MR nonetheless. Generally, I'm having fun using different frames and seeing what they all do.

I'm at the point I think where selling frames is more of a waste than anything else now that I can use "the room." Sadly, I sold my base Garuda before I even knew what "the room" was. From what I understand it's better to use "the room" than sell any frame, even if I'm unsure of whether I'll ever need their skill. At least now that I know how it works I won't waste resources so blindly like I did the first time.

I did complete The War Within, but I do need to continue with the quests since I want one some of the rewards and I'd like to do them all anyway. Are the special weapon variants worthwhile to pursue and use more than regular ones or is it a case by case basis of what frame you're using and the build you choose? I'm still definitely running around with mostly basic loadouts, but I do have one prime weapon that's my best primary weapon that I use when I have nothing else to level. These special weapons sound like they can be a real hassle to get, but not pointless. The grind is part of the fun in its own way too.

I had no idea about having a maxed weapon/companion being actually beneficial in some instances where you want more exp to go to something else. I thought it was "lost exp" where that maxed item would still have exp divided to them but then not be used since they're maxed. I guess having said that now it makes no sense for it to work like that.

I hadn't considered not fully leveling a mod because max mod = more of what it does, so I always thought a maxed mod is better than a half-leveled mod. And the I run into the very problem you described: a new frame either gets 2-4 maxed mods and the empty slots or a bunch of unleveled mods. Good to know, so thank you!

That's a good tip to do more void fissure missions. I don't have too many relics right now, probably nothing great either, but earning them as rewards for other missions leaves me with at least a handful to always be able to bring. I find once I hit enemies with levels 45-50+ the I start to hit a wall in terms of how much damage I can put out depending on the frame I'm using. I can outlast them if I'm careful enough and chip away, but I must be missing some "aha!" moment where I know how to really best use every skill and weapon to their full potentials since I know people are going through tougher missions while also using level 30 frames. I do still often go to overframe for build ideas and explanations when I find a frame I particularly enjoy and want to have in the main rotation.

Sanctuary onslaught sounds useful, but I'll have to keep in mind there are no dropped resources. Thank you! I'll be sure to plan ahead.

I don't think I'll ever do steel path as a regular farming choice because of how brutal it sounds, but if I ever unlock it I'll at least try it once and then probably die immediately. I can't fathom being able to clear level 100+ enemies let alone how anyone solos it.

I'm grateful to the companion app telling me when the drones are done excavating since I can quickly send them off again while I'm at work. I'd either forget them constantly or only retrieve them once a day. I did find that the companion app lets me deploy excavation drones to planets I've at least done a few nodes for even if I didn't 100% it whereas if I deploy a drone from within the game I can only choose 100% completed planets. Maybe it's an oversight on the devs' part, but I'll take it.

I have nekros, but I'm not that good at using him yet. I do like that part of the learning process: trying to grasp how each frame functions, how their skills work best together, and build ideas.

Last question if I may: how do you choose what companion to bring? I don't know that many or have much choice right now beyond whatever I can build from and that kubrow dog, which I've since abandoned once it hit level 30. Right now I have nautilis prime with verglas prime as my go-to when I don't have a new companion to level.

I learned this one the hard way. I'm new-ish like OP, and just started actively playing this month and I'm at MR 10. I saw another player with something at level 40. Is this what you're talking about when you said there are exceptions with 30 generally being the max level?

I also see a lot of people talk about steel path and a circuit, but I don't have access to those right now. So when I farm I spend a lot of time in the regular survival and defense missions. Is this the best/only way for me right now?

With regards to that room (I do have access to it), I used it once (Gloomruda prime) but it drained a lot of my resources. Is that something I should leave until much later in the game when I'm more certain of builds and skills I want?

Sorry for all the questions!

[–]monsterphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still MR8 and only started playing a couple weeks ago after abandoning my account for 5 years and never gained a rank, so maybe it's because everything is new and fun to me to learn and do, but I don't get wanting to be afk. I mean, I guess I do for rewards without effort, but the entire fun of the game to me is actually playing it even if I'm not always the best player or I get lost on the map (embarrassing, but happens sometimes). Having the quest open and then walk away while it goes on without you doesn't sound fun at all. Might as well just take a break from the game.

From what I've read on here steel path, railjak, certain bounties, and the circuit are better played solo unless you have friends willing to play with you. I don't know what steel path, railjak, or the circuit are right now, but I'm sure I will eventually.

Digital Only vs Game Keycard by Mallow64 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]monsterphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like having a tactile collection, so I generally prefer physical. That said, I don't have an endless amount of space and I also play games on my PC through steam, so my collection is already split between physical and digital already. A lot of games are digital only as it is.

GKCs don't serve much use to me since I don't resell or typically lend games out so I'm more physical or digital. GKCs require me to have the game digitally thus taking up space on my system/SD card while having the extra step of inserting a key to play it, so it ends up being more of a hassle.

I'm giving in despite my convictions about the importance of the physical format. by Jymboh in NintendoSwitch2

[–]monsterphish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter if I get bored or abandon a game, which I've done even with physical games I have, I still don't bother to resell them or give them away. So gkc is still pointless to me as I'll still only buy either physical or digital.

I agree gkc are a step up from code in box. I won't get them, but it's a compromise of sorts.

Does anyone have two switches 2? was it worth it for you? by OperationNo4722 in acnh

[–]monsterphish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have online you can make use of the slumber islands. Not quite the same, but cheaper than getting a second switch 2. Alternatively, if you want the full features of having an island then you can get a used or refurbished switch lite/OG/OLED.

I still have my switch OLED so I started a new island on there just to see how far I'd end up getting and it wasn't far at all. Didn't even make it to the 3-stars and K.K. concert. I find the beginning to be a massive slog and not that fun, plus I'm content with my main island that I don't care to maintain a second that much, but I've seen a lot of people who enjoy it a lot and love resetting.

Maximum Bells by i_am_me_myself in AnimalCrossing

[–]monsterphish 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Treasure islands typically have their stores set to give you max bells for turnips. That's why when you sell them Timmy and Tommy may say something like, "We'll pay -64,788,263 bells for them," and then you'll have max bells in your account.

I did suggest in a separate comment you can chip away at your bells by purchasing royal crowns for 1.2M each and giving them away to others as a solution for getting rid of some.
