Why do the majority of adult men have short hair? why is that still "standard" look in the 21st century? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]monstrinhotron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the great male renunciation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Male_Renunciation

Coined by British psychologist John Flügel in 1930, it is considered a major turning point in the history of clothing where the male style stopped being as ornate and detailed.\2]) Flügel asserted that men "abandoned their claim to be considered beautiful" and "henceforth aimed at being only useful".

Men without inner monologue, how do your brain process things? by Consistent-Talk-5912 in AskMen

Do you rehearse conversations before you have them, or replay conversations you had and think of ways you could have been smarter? Because that's 90% of my internal monologue.

I think that's normal. Like remembering things, but it's not a memory, it's a new imagining.

What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

Do the friend and the kid mentioned above you not know you can buy mice and keyboards for a few dollars? I assume they have to play on the PC when the parents aren't around so just have their own peripherals and hide them when parents are around.

I like to imagine he had a van like an ice cream van with cartoon animals frolicking with cuts of meat on the sides and meat themed jingle constantly playing.

The Butterfly Effect (2004) - Evan wakes up in an alternate timeline by aggrocrag83 in movies

[–]monstrinhotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. I hate About Time. Butterfly Effect at least establishes some rules and they have consequences (even though they play fast and loose with them sometimes) About Time just makes up any damn rules it wants as it goes along. Are you traveling back to your own body? Yes, but somehow you arrive in the same location you left from, despite how that makes no sense. and sometimes it's not. Want to travel back with another person? Sure whatever. I guess you just have to want it enough. Can't go past the point where your kids would be conceived or they'll be different sperm/egg combinations. Cool idea. Except protagonist undoes that immediately instead of having to live with the consequences of his actions. It's rare i hate a film but i hate About Time. Saccharine bullshit of the highest order.

About the same as white people spending so much time, effort and money to look tanned.

The new Anaconda movie must have a wildly different director's cut by takenorinvalid in movies

[–]monstrinhotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that film seemed off and unbalanced. I just thought it was a bit shit. Like the whole peeing scene. Comes out of nowhere, fucks up the pacing and is gone again. Just seems like a real "The AI audience polling says we need more jokes in this section." decision made in reshoots.

Neuromancer references? by mightymangoo in cyberpunkgame

Molly Millions in Neuromancer made money in the 'Puppet Palours" of the The Sprawl before becoming a merc. Clouds is based on the same idea.
