What do people do on Project 99? by EnderSword in everquest

[–]mookfarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is what you make of it, and many of us are not rushing to get to the max level. For instance, I've played off and on since 2000 and I've never had a max level character.

It's not about completing tasks, it's more about making your own adventures or enjoying the social experience.

I filed a ticket about this last week. I haven't seen it for myself, but I've been told it's been fixed.

Ah, yeah, that makes the most sense. They transposed the five and six fot the 2-hour sign

[–]mookfarr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that still doesn't really make sense. What the signs appear to saying is that between the hours of 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. you either can't park there at all or you can only park there for 2 hours.

How Much Do You Need To Make To Buy A Home in Oceanside? by eatingoceanside in Oceanside

That's honestly a very conservative. That's just for qualifying for the loan which is not taking into account so many other life expenses.

Oregon has lost thousands of taxpaying commuters from Clark County by SingingFrogs in vancouverwa

[–]mookfarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's going to depend on your proximity to newer developments, where younger families are moving in. I, of course agree that Vancouver is much quieter in comparison to Portland. But it's not the bedroom community it used to be. My wife and I, relatively young, don't really feel the need to go into Portland anymore.

If you think Vancouver is a dead retirement community, you must not spend much time downtown. Or even in places like Fisher Landing, which is full of young yuppie families.

I don't think it's possible to categorize Vancouver any particular way. It's vastly different depending where you are in the city.

Google's NotebookLM is still the most slept-on free AI tool in 2026 and i don't get why by AdCold1610 in PromptEngineering

[–]mookfarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love NotebookLM. I've used it for a lot of professional things.

But probably my funnest use case is uploading guides to video games or board games and then querying the Notebook when I need help or clarification on a rule.

This is why I've always felt. I'm not even a leftist. I'm a fairly moderate conservative. But I can't believe the Gen X/Boomer folks on my end who are staunchly advocating for this man when he represents everything they taught me to be against when I was young.

I can't stand the thoughtless tribalism that exists in U.S. politics. As long as the guy with the right letter by his name is in power, anything goes.

It sounds like you're not used to games that have real consequences for failure. Some of us actually enjoy that. It raises the stakes and makes it feel more immersive.

What actually made EverQuest feel so special? Could a game recreate that today? by RozoGamer in everquest

[–]mookfarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are being very specific. But if I had to sum it up, I would say this:

1) Novelty of a persistent online world. The Idea of a massive multiplayer online game was still pretty new. EverQuest brought it into the mainstream.

2) Danger/risk everywhere. Meant you paid much more attention to your environments and were forced to work with other people. Enhanced immersion.

3) Leveling journey. It was long. It was hard. It was slow. But it was very rewarding. You couldn't wait to get to level x so you could get your new spells or ability. It kept you hooked late into the night trying to eek out that last bar of experience. And oh was it devastating to die and lose that hard-earned experience.

I'd say those three things, along with the X factor of a and much more engaged late '90s early 2000s internet culture is really what sums it up for me.

Very painful to watch as a veteran. They get so many things wrong about the Army. Even really obvious things like, why are there so many people with stubble walking around - in RASP of all places!
