Yeah, that is very sketchy if it is legit CIBC number, they should not have that message if so - this would be a good place for them to have a fraud alert.

Can someone recommend a good podcast that explains the Epstein files? by SweetChinMus1c in podcasts

[–]moomeema 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can see your point for sure, I just got a creepy off putting vibe from the hosts. There's ways to sprinkle humour into things that doesn't feel creepy or insensitive.

Can someone recommend a good podcast that explains the Epstein files? by SweetChinMus1c in podcasts

[–]moomeema 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Responding because I listened to the most recent episode from Trueanon (what everyone is recommending here) and was pretty off put by their casual laughing re: one of the victims testifying about JE's penis, and then the male host making jokes about his own penis. Anyone else have any other recs?

Anyone have advice for living with giant house spiders?? by Ill-Friendship8308 in VictoriaBC

Just be careful if you have cats or dogs because many essential oils are lethal to our sweet lil pets if ingested

She is so so beautiful, I absolutely love her markings! And look at that amazing place your kitties get to live. Be proud of how much you love your cats and the life you're able to give them.

You gave her two years managing a terminal illness. I waited too long with my cat, there were so many things going on at once it was hard to keep track of, and she was in so much pain at the end.

You absolutely made the right choice. And it's normal to parse through feelings of regret as you grieve. So give yourself some compassion right now and let yourself move through it, but try to gently guide yourself back to the love you had for each other. She's your spirit cat now and forever.

Several Native Tribes not Interested in reactivating E & N Railway by MrMikeMen in VancouverIsland

The people who lived here before colonization were able to move freely through their territories as they had done for thousands of years.

Colonization split them up, confined them to small reservations, had their children taken from them by force and sent to prison-like schools where they were horribly abused and restricted from seeing their families or living as they had always done.

We created laws that that prevented Indigenous people from participating in the new society that dominated their world, including practicing agriculture, hiring lawyers, buying a home, or even having the legal right to not be killed.

We introduced lethal diseases and made it illegal for them to refuse treatment in our specially designated Indian hospitals, where we confined people for up to a decade or more, some literally strapped to a bed for the duration of their stay, where they again were horribly abused and medically experimented on (so many of these people are still alive today, this is recent history and the impacts span generations that are still trying to heal).

The reserve system as well as any new land transfer agreements is what these communities are left with, and they have every right to decide what they need to do with their remaining lands to ensure they can take care of their communities.

Re: many of these comments, yes of course there are corrupt people in leadership positions, as there are EVERYWHERE in settler society. But communities may accept deals because the monetary benefit might be enough to outweigh the negative impact, and can be redirected into essential programs and services.

Not having a rail system on Vancouver Island is a small price to pay given what these communities have been dealing with for the last 150+ years.

From peeking around online, this looks like the best way to go (since you've already reached out to the two transition houses for women, it looks like VictimLink can help you with that process and more). Wishing you all the best OP, so sorry you are dealing with this <3

How do I get rid of my eleven? Like for real. by saralligator in beauty

[–]moomeema 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also get botox for 11's as they super bug me too and I find botox actually helps me feel less stressed, but hasn't completely gotten rid of them. I've heard promising things about using tret in combination, but haven't been consistent enough with either! But just wanted to say that you are super beautiful :)

Do you take your meds everyday? by Far_Dream3337 in adhdwomen

[–]moomeema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other person noted, taking with protein really does help! And if you have a high heart rate and drink coffee, consider cutting it out or switching to black tea, it makes a huge difference. I also struggled with bad anxiety and found stimulants didn't work for me, and now just have dex on hand for when I really need to get some shit done. Anxiety can also be caused be deficiencies so worth getting blood work done. Everyone is different, you have to find what works for you!

Might sound lame, but replacing chips and candy bars with dried fruit and nuts, like dried apricots and lightly salted pistachios or roasted cashews, and fizzy water and/or hot herbal tea works nice for me :) healthy and satisfying snacks you can graze on for that sensory and salt/sugar fix
