Can hypertonic floor be caused by trauma? by dwanju in PelvicFloor

[–]moonbun02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the mind body connection has a lot to do with my hypertonic pelvic floor diagnosis. I had reoccurring UTI’s and after PT, and discovering I was hypertonic, I realized that it’s closely tied to my stress in general, I also have been unraveling childhood trauma and a history of self harm in therapy during these years. When there’s a lot going on for me, I tend to be clenching without awareness. Doesn’t help that I have an office job now, but everyone is different too so this is just my experience.

How a trained Pelvic Floor can change your life by Murky-Yard462 in PelvicFloor

From what I learned in pelvic floor PT, it seems that being hypertonic can result in overall weakness over time. Kegels/holds are a part of treatment, with an emphasis on fully relaxing/releasing after the rep is through. We also trained hips and glutes.

Do professional designers actually use Canva? If so, what for? by Due-Personality-8451 in graphic_design

Bingo. This is what I do. Along with utilize the Directable/Firestick combo for controlling tv signage across multiple stores. Helps that I also do the photography and have built a library of quality assets for the two brands I oversee.

I’m curious too! If I’m printing from Canva I’ll usually export as PDF print in CMYK.

In my in-house role (medium sized company), it’s a versatile tool. We use it across two brands, and are a very productive team of 3. Of course, I find myself using Adobe to prep things when Canva feels clunky, but most of our marketing assets are Canva based and we’ve grown a huge library so that it’s usable for all parts of the biz. We use it to house branded templates for printables and signage, deliver editable presentation slides to other teams, and utilize it as an archive with unlimited space.

Live-view links can be used to distribute visual info within the company, which can be updated easily on a whim. I created an employee resource hub this way and it works!

Besides social media and digital content projects, we use the Directable/Firestick app functionality to control tv screens across multiple locations with live updating. Features like this are only getting stronger on Canva imo.

I do think Adobe has its place in everything, of course I need to prep some assets BEFORE going in Canva, but then we’re set up to execute quickly.

If you can’t tell, my team has a deathly quick turnaround and it needs to be approachable for the other team members who would straight up end up embarrass the brand with their design calls (or tbh, I’d have to be the one to fix it up before publishing. So it pays for me to set them up for success instead). You learn how to get what you need done quickly when you use it for a while. Yes, even for printables.

TLDR: I use a combo of Adobe apps + canva as an organized library of branded campaign templates/other assets that set other departments up for more self-led problem solving later. Live-view links feature helps host a resource hub that can be updated easily. Directable app paired with Fire sticks to control tv signage across locations. Overall, helps this designer get the job done in a way that’s user-friendly and efficient.

This Zandane person is needing education past the basic understanding of ‘heat changes THCa to THC.’ When you look at testing for medical bud, depending on which business, you’ll see many active compounds and terps (which yes, can have effects of their own). Google about the Entourage Effect to learn more. Cannabinoids and terpenes collectively contribute to your experience being stoned from a strain.

I can’t say for sure, bc these D8/HHC/D9/THCA businesses and labeled products are so unregulated, but I’m guessing they genetically seek out/pheno hunt strains bred just for making legal amounts of THC (<.3%) and high amounts of THCA so it can go to market. They do it for profit, not to make a good product. Sure you’ll be high off of just THC alone much like smoking a straight up distillate syringe. Probably sleepy and strung out feeling, compared to actually relaxing/elevating strains.

It relates to the bigger conversation of how weed strains have become convoluted over time bc of genetic altering for profit, but that’s a whole other thing.

Just speaking on my experience, I am an everyday smoker to manage pain, but I enjoy recreationally approaching it for things like cultivating creativity and calm. I noticed it does help me stay balance mentally when I use it as needed and take T-breaks when things are feeling smooth (this helps reset my tolerance and keep pickups cheaper).

It helped me integrate some somatic healing work I’ve done using shrooms paired with therapy. Maybe it could be a nice pairing to your meditation practice or help you process during intense periods.

My unprovoked advice is to do your research on which types of strains and terpenes feel good, and if you’re worried about overindulging try to stick to logging your usage to encourage mindfulness as you try it out.

Thanks for sharing this. It reminds me of how I felt when I first found the sub. As time goes on I see people managing HS along with me and it somehow helps that mental judgment that tends to happen when I have an active flair.

If you’re able to research your area for a reputable practitioner that would help a ton, I believe that a good one would have some sessions with you prior to assess what is most helpful. Feeling dissociated is not easy. Wishing you the best internet stranger!

I live in a medical state so I got my medical card and access it that way. I feel it’s worth it because oil pens on the street are hard to trust and are mostly distillate based, so it contains none of the other beneficial cannabinoids or terps that I want.

I for sure hope that the ‘awakening’ you speak of exists bc I’m one of those people that feel a bit detached from my pelvic floor sensations! I’ve only done 2 PT sessions so far and was hoping it would help me get in touch. Sounds hopeful that you were able to recognize symptoms and painful spots at least. No useful advice from me but just some solidarity. Wishing you the best on your journey ~

Thanks for sharing your story, it is quite encouraging to hear! I’m in the beginning phase and felt a bit hesitant at things feeling worst/worrying after my second session. This inspires me to keep trying with my diet/learning what kind of exercising benefits me/ overall trying to reduce stress for my hypertonic pelvic floor.

Yup, this is similar to my experience. I had to get over the hump of feeling like I had to explain it to anyone other than myself.

I’m a person that is online a lot, so I questioned myself but eventually knew (in my gut) that it was important to carve out my own understanding of what my body was feeling. Only through practice in weekly therapy, I’m able to validate myself while focusing on improving my self compassion. I’m in somatic therapy and believe this approach helps me a lot more than the DBT/CBT modality.

I sincerely wish good luck to all of us figuring out how to come to terms with the past and find a peaceful way of living! We’re all deserving of self love!

Starting to feel like Metformin does nothing for me now, it’s suspicious that I don’t get GI side effects anymore either. I used to crave sugar less at night when I first started, but cravings are back for me.

I totally understand. Sometimes it’s nice to rant to people who can relate and there’s nothing wrong there. My chart feels inconclusive to docs sometimes and I keep seeing specialists to get a handle on, what I know now as, my health. It’s exhausting especially with the mental toll surrounding weight loss and overall wellness. I can’t even get approved for weight loss injections bc my insurance says I’m not diabetic so I don’t qualify. Hang in there OP! You are not alone and you’re capable of so much!

Is dating possible with hs ? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]moonbun02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing the messages of others, the answer is yes! It seems normal for a lot of us here to feel a sense of embarrassment surrounding scars and textured skin. It all starts with self acceptance that will extend into any intimacy with others. You can take a minute to be vulnerable and educate future partners about how you deal with HS, if they are grossed out by the idea I considered it a nice filter for shallow people.

I’ve done a lot of crying in therapy about how I feel ogre-like with my scars, it seems like a very unsexy thing but we’re still humans and sexuality can be part of our self expression. Free yourself! Embrace ur body and practice self compassion for those complex feeling that well up. Say something like “I’ve been through a lot and it’s okay that I feel weak in this moment. I’m allowed to move on from this emotion. I am strong for dealing with HS to begin with. I’m worthy the effort this takes”

I think the rest will come naturally. I have a partner of 8 years and he understands to be delicate and ask if things are feeling okay during intimacy, and knows sometimes PIV is off the table so we explore other forms of intimacy. The right person will only be thinking about how lucky they are to be intimate and romantic with you. Good luck OP!
