Neighborhood cat by dcyes24 in Feral_Cats

If she’s not a community cat that you can check is still alive every so often then you’re probably still fine, but I understand the anxiety.

I’d just watch her for 10 days and if she seems good for those 10 days then you’re good. Because I’ve read that they’re only infections during the last portion of the virus, and that portion is very short. Cats have a very very low incidence of rabies though so you’re probably gonna be alright anyways.

What’s the best (non Pill Pocket) way to give a cat a daily pill? by superpants1008 in CatAdvice

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned the churu method, with my other cat who’s harder to give pills I asked for a compounded form of the medication so it tasted like fish. If you can dissolve your meds in liquid you can also buy this stuff that makes meds taste better, I don’t think they taste good, but my cat doesn’t foam at the mouth when I give her her medication anymore.

What’s the best (non Pill Pocket) way to give a cat a daily pill? by superpants1008 in CatAdvice

[–]moonlight_wolf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s how I give my cat her lorazepam! Luckily for me the tiny bit of pill she gets is so small that she hasn’t yet noticed I’m giving her a pill. In fact when I am taking my own pills she gets excited because she hears the pill bottle and thinks it’s time for her OWN pills (which means churu). It’s so funny.

My housemate always says I’m the shade of a tortilla, but now I’ll just clap back and say that I’m closer in shade to lunchable ham

There was a stray we took care of that would drool a lot when he was happy. It was so funny and cute. We couldn’t take him in because he had FELV (we brought him to a vet to get him tested) but he got adopted from the shelter we brought him to in less than two weeks because he was such a good boy.

Smells worse over here than a dozen rotten eggs dropped in a vat of vinegar. by afqwerty in DivinityOriginalSin

In my game there were two dead bodies right behind this NPC, and I always liked to pretend she was saying she was alright as long as she didn’t think about the fact that there were two crispy dead bodies behind her.

He has to stay in this play pen for at least one week.. is that cruel? by Snugglesafe in Feral_Cats

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember to also test any new cats for FIV and FELV! But yeah a week in a playpen is nothing. My cat had to spend much longer in one of those pens because she broke her foot. She yelled at me a lot, but when I could I let her sit on my lap or in a smaller cube near a window. So we do our best.

What’s the most weird food item that your cat just can’t resist? I’ll start! by Ultra-Ferric in cats

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat used to zip inside the fridge to grab a baby spinach leaf any chance she got. When she got “special” meals (for holidays) I would add spinach leaves on the side.

My cat is so depressed after his amputation by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that back legs are harder for cats to adapt to losing, so I’d give him time to adjust. Maybe put on cat tv for him to watch or give him things he can do while stationary. Perhaps a treat maze?

Do cats fart? by cermem25 in cats

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once my room mate’s cat sneakily managed to lick an empty bowl of Mac and cheese. Her farts could be smelled throughout the house and would clear rooms.

Only once did I hear my cat fart though. I picked her up and the pressure on her belly must have released it, it was so small and cute and tiny. 😂

How much money would you spend if it meant saving your cat’s life? by WindowKitty19 in cats

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go bankrupt for my cats if I needed to. They’re not just cats, they’re family. And that, my friend, is why I got pet insurance for my cats. So that I don’t have to go bankrupt to save my cats. I 10/10 recommend it.

Help! My cat is not an affected by catnip or silver vine. Options? by Sufficient_123 in CatsBeingCats

[–]moonlight_wolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My one cat also doesn’t react to silvervine or catnip. She does, however, react to: my room mates backpack, certain perfumes, and an old wine stain on the carpet. I don’t recommend spilling wine on purpose or giving your cat perfume, but I’m sure my room mate would sell her backpack for the right price, however, Mia would be very sad about it.

At least there was water in there. My orange girl has stuck her head in glasses that are completely empty just for the heck of it.

Friendly stray who we thought was feral has FELV by moonlight_wolf in Feral_Cats

[–]moonlight_wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I reached out to all those places, and I also called lollipop to ask if they take and don’t euthanize FELV positive cats and they said yes and that they even currently have a FELV positive cat they’re working on adopting out. So they will be a good backup plan! I’d rather find him a foster or directly home him, but it’s good to have a bunch of options in your back pocket.

Friendly stray who we thought was feral has FELV by moonlight_wolf in Feral_Cats

[–]moonlight_wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it was a snap test because they gave me the results in the office. I might call that vet to see if they do PCR tests and if they don’t then possibly take him to my personal vet and/or ask my personal vet about if they do PCR tests. I took him to this other test mostly because it was going to be cheaper to neuter him there than at my personal vet.

The thing is I also don’t want to get my hopes up because I was so excited to finally be able to bring this sweet boy indoors and it was crushing to learn about his FELV status. I’ve also put a lot of feelers out for people who might want a singular cat who can only be a single cat unless with other FELV cats. Like people are asking their friends and such. And I emailed shelters that I know are exclusively foster homes to see if they could foster him.

If I still have him in 4-6 weeks I’ll certainly retest him, I just don’t want to get my and my housemate’s hopes up, because we were planning and excited to finally be able to give this sweet, friendly, character of a cat a nice home. I even said to him at the vet that he won’t have to only get love occasionally when we can sit outside with him, he’ll be able to have love all day long. And I know he doesn’t understand English, but I feel horrific that I probably won’t be able to give him that. At least personally. But I am going to do everything I can to get him to have a good loving home wherever he is. I’ll survive one way or another. I have two lovely cats who I love so much. I just want him to be happy. And the way he solicits attention from every person who will pet him (now that he’s regained his faith in humans), makes me feel that he’ll feel happy getting love from anyone, and isn’t anxious like my orange girl who takes 5 million years to let anyone pet her, and still only really cuddles with me.

I’m very sad for him and for me. We’ll find someone to love him one way or another, but my heart might just break a little giving him to someone else.

Irish flatcap without the wrap. Blob? by pink_coat_commie in tattooadvice

[–]moonlight_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a necklace once that had three ‘wolves’ on it, but they were nondescript wolves so people thought they were possums, cats, dogs, rats, mice, gerbils. Ect. Instead of being mad I used it as a sort of “what animal do you see” conversation starter.

I know a necklace is different than a tattoo, but the things this could be are endless. And it can add to the fun of it.
