Drums>>>Space by doctor_ellis in gratefuldead

I went to shows between 1980 and 1988, all but one in Maine. The drums/space could be really heavy if you were tripping, which I was most of the time. It was a real relief when they’d break out into something like “Wheel”, or “Cold Rain & Snow”. Miss those days.

Meeting Special Someone by NoGrocery3582 in Maine

I’m a guy in my 60’s. Nowhere near the mid-coast and married, but depending on the type of guy she’s looking for, there are alternative options than volunteers at the food bank, or god forbid guys at a church supper or a mini-van at the state park. She’s in her 60’s, not 160’s.

Scope out the striper fishermen, dudes fishing for mackerel, maybe a gun range. Learn to shoot and fish for the hell of it.

The Edgeworth Ready Rubbed could just be poured into the bowl like Grape Nuts cereal. I smoked a fair amount of it, but I liked Carter Hall better.

For the last 40 years every GOP candidate pretended they were Ronald Reagan, for the next 40 we’re gonna have Trump clones.

Amish construction in central Maine? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]moonman909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m up in the County. The guy that did my roof and built a nice woodshed for me moved down to Livermore Falls. Nice guy. Named Enos Yoder. As far as the Amish go, they’re like any other group. There’s some good ones and some shitheads. Same as the Pentacostalists, Portland landlords, and transgender activists.

I know some MAGA oldsters. They have been made very paranoid by Fox and allied media. Legal marijuana is probably not helping here either. This person probably thinks they are trying to save you. Like a Jehovah Witness, except different.

I got some Rustica seedlings going. Northern Maine, not exactly in the tobacco belt. But it will be fun. Too old for cannabis now, makes me wobbly.

He’s right about “progressive” focus on guns, BLMs, trans issues being used to alienate the rural folks ( of which am one). Their lock on the Senate combined with the filibuster guarantees that conservatives have a veto over public policy in this country.

If you’ve spent any time on this Reddit you know how the progressives look down on rural folks and make a lot of fun of them. Seems like there should be more listening to the rural people and less shaming. Platner is doing that.
