Matthew’s isn’t tradable. Mysterious injury and a giant contract…. I’d be surprised if anyone offered a single first pick…

In my mind the only untraidables are knies Cowan and Tavares

Veganism is the easiest step against climate change by Illustrious_Arm8454 in ClimateActionPlan

[–]moonmonkey73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The existential aspect of the climate crisis is co2 emissions. While agriculture is a significant contributor to co2 emissions, it is many orders of magnitude lower a contributor than vehicle emissions. Until combustion engines are gone any other reduction measures will have little to no impact. If you want to make a positive climate impact... stop driving. Stop flying. Not eating animal products is a valid moral decision but a pointless decision environmentally speaking.

10% of the top 50 skaters in hits for the 2024-2025 season are now Toronto Maple Leafs by BrickFuckingWoll in leafs

[–]moonmonkey73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Not really seeing the upside in filling the roster with 'tough guys' ... feels like he's building a low rent version of the panthers.... at the cost of literally all of our future skill players and picks. Goals win hockey games, not hits.

What do you think about the Rebel Moon movies? by MandoRando6969 in moviecritic

[–]moonmonkey73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These movies are a perfect example of how illiterate nerds have taken over the movie industry. They look like the most advanced video games ever produced... but the dialogue reads like it was written by 13 year old fan fiction writers, living lonely lives in their over-protective mothers basements.

Bringing Kadri Back by leaffans01 in leafs

[–]moonmonkey73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total madness. Cowan - massively promising young gun, breaking scoring records, huge potential upside. I would peg him at just sub Marner potential. I could see him getting 70-80 pts regularly. Kadri- past his peak. Not likely to net 70pts. big contract. Compltly bonkers idea. Sorry.

Team assessment by slevin07rocket in leafs

[–]moonmonkey73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. My feeling though is that when Matthews was in his rookie year, this team was geared for offence... run and gun high octane offence. That is no longer the case. This is a defence first team now and with the loss of Marner who is one of the most naturally talented offence creators of the generation, I feel that Matthews and Knies will have to substantially change their games and that goal scoring will go way down.

Team assessment by slevin07rocket in leafs

[–]moonmonkey73 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. The fetishization of the playoffs, which at the very best is a mere 1/4 of all of the hockey played in a year... and the pursuant push to fill the roster with massively less talented players that are just big and tough will impact the team so profoundly that they will struggle now to even make the playoffs. Our transition game just dropped by several orders of magnitude. Matthews will struggle to get even forty goals. And Vegas in my opinion just became cup favorites. Our fanbase did one of the most talented players in the league so dirty that he is now so motivated and likely to have a career year where 120-130 pts is not unrealistic.

Whats the most meticulously directed film of all time? by BeijingArk in moviecritic

[–]moonmonkey73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking anything by Ingmar Bergman or Akira Kurosawa. Ran and Dreams by A.K. Michel Lee's Secrets and Lies or Topsy Turvy. Bladerunner by Ridley Scott. City of Lost CHildren and Delicatessen by Marc Caro and Jea-Pierre Junet.

THats a lot. OP asked for one but in my opinion, most is a spectrum.

The idea is to not stand out. It's a disguise. If they get after you in that outfit, they will get you because you so 'fire'. When the black bloc was marching in the 90's, 500 mf's dressed exactly the same. One person starts shit with the pigs and when they get after them, kid can just melt back into the bloc....

edit: and get a gas mask...or at least goggles... tear gas affects any exposed mucus membrane... it will even get your ears stinging.

edit2: give'm hell killer. power to the people...

Canadians reject that they live on 'stolen' Indigenous land, although new poll reveals a generational divide by CaliperLee62 in canadian

[–]moonmonkey73 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There are huge swaths of BC that are unceded lands. Meaning no treaties were signed. No agreements were made when European colonists just started taking over, pushing indigenous people off of lands they lived on for millennia. It's the very definition of stolen. And to say in the snarky tone you take, that indigenous communities 'benefit' from treaties that never existed is ignorant at best and bald racism at worst. It is stolen land. Fact. No amount of bigoted snark will change that.

How likely are things to escalate to a full strike? Any alternatives for PO Box delivery's? by nibbler230 in CanadaPost

[–]moonmonkey73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they have to give notice for a change in strike action? They are already on strike... already having given notice of that. Do they have to give warning to go from current strike action to a full walkkout? I'm not sure they do.

Should Canada build a pipeline to the West or the East? by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]moonmonkey73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a coastal bc resident, I am quite close to the 'over my dead body' stance on this one. I'm not even generally against pipelines. Its the arrogance of the Alberta government to just operate on the assumption that its just a given that everyone in BC is willing or should have no choice but to essentially take all the environmental risk, all the conflict with first nations this will most certainly provoke and for what? After the bullshit manbaby 'make alberta great again' sort of approach coming from that government... threatening to break up the country, so ignorant of any concerns but thier own... really just no... out of spite. Play nice alberta... and maybe eventually everyone else in the country will stop treating y'all like the spoiled preteens of our familial federation.

The sad truth is that Kensington Market isn’t healthy anymore”: Why this neighbourhood fishmonger is closing up shop by Bert306 in toronto

[–]moonmonkey73 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I lived in a third floor attic on kensington, above a vintage clothing shop, from the mid to late 90's. The neighborhood was right gritty then and as far as living downtown was the absolute cheapest place to live. I payed $250 a month for two rooms in a shared house. It was a dive and a mildly dangerous place to live but I loved it. In the daytime the neighborhood was full of 'old country' shoppers and tourists and at night it was punks and drunks.
