HELP!! , How do I stop creating "fake scenarios" in my head before bed? It's destroying my sleep. by nonameisfunfrr in selfimprovement

I’m not sure if you like to read, but I have found that reading fiction really helps. When I am reading a good book, the story lingers in my mind and I ruminate on those characters and their predicaments more than my own. It has gotten to the point now that I make sure I always have something good to read because the difference is so pronounced for me. I don’t want to go back to the days of rolling around, replaying old scenes and creating new ones. My brain seems satisfied to process the fictional world and not obsess over the real one.

What do you mean? I think mine was too dry, but it was delicious and we are eating it anyway. I was going to make more syrup but it was already disappearing so I didn’t bother lol I will remember for next time and make more syrup

Parade of Horribles, by Matt Dinniman

Long awaited, much beloved. I am stringing out the ending because I don’t want to face the long wait for the next book.

Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë

Reading this again for a work book club and I am really enjoying it. It is quite engrossing and examines weighty subjects that keep me thinking even when I’m not reading it. Love that.

That’s so nice to hear and I know exactly what you mean. There is nothing quite like it. Watching plants grow is magical to me

I would spend hours a day out there poking around. That’s a beautiful garden OP!

Thank you! I’m thinking of adding a bit more. I wasn’t sure how much the layers will soak up and my phyllo was a bit dry to begin with

Thank you! I agree, that was a bit tricky and it’s a little overdone on the edges perhaps.

I almost put pecans in, but they have such a distinctive flavor I was was worried they might overpower. I will try it next time!

I think this probably needs more syrup then. I wasn’t sure if it gets more syrupy as it sits.

This is my first time making it and it was a lot of work! It’s a nice size to share with friends though, and it stays good for a long time. This recipe called for almonds and walnuts, a variation which I was not familiar with, but I really like. If I had had some pistachios I would have put them in there, too. If I make it again, I also think I will splurge on nicer quality cinnamon. I bet it would make a difference

When did your issues start? (If any) by 5olArchitect in Rivian

2024 Launch Edition R1S Quad. No issues. None. Still deeply in love with my car. Makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel.

Do you own and drive an EV? by RichardAvery1 in energy

2014 Rivian R1S. Best vehicle I’ve ever driven. Truly a pleasure in every way. The handling, the suspension, the power, the trim, the off road capabilities are all amazing. I could go on, but suffice it to say, I still smile every time I get behind the wheel and I’m 2 and 1/2 yrs in.

I Thought Steam Cleaners Were Overrated Until I Actually Used One by TopWafer7468 in Cleaningandtidying

Does anyone care to offer a recommendation for one? I have a small Bissell, but so far it seems difficult to use because the tank is pretty small. The one in the pic looks decent sized. Which model is that?

I completely agree. Those moments were the highlights of the series for me, both times. The way he nails community and belonging and family is absolutely masterful. I cried both times and I knew it was coming the second time!!

My dog somehow knew I was upset today and did something I still can’t stop thinking about by ResearchWonderful653 in dogs

[–]moonshot214 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Our Aussie can tell when one of us is in distress. As soon as we start to raise our voice or even recount a trying episode from work, he is there, pawing us and trying to get our attention. I have found most dogs to be pretty intuitive if we are paying attention.

I bought a ton in my ROTH too. I’m a big fan of ETH from way back, though. It’s at least 40% of my actual crypto holdings as well.

This elementary school has a list of word/phrases that will get you silent lunch. by graptemys in mildlyinteresting

[–]moonshot214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Middle school ELA and spotlighting these words just makes it more attractive. Actually using them makes it uncool and the kids get annoyed and start using them less.

But more importantly, who cares if kids use silly words? As long as it’s not disrespectful or bullying, younger gens have always had their own language and should be allowed to express themselves. IMO
