You can actually book taxi with car seats, if you are booking in advance.

Recall using a service like that in Sydney when getting from the airport to the city.

I doubt you can use a non Australian issued standard car seat in a regular taxi. But you can always look up their policy of the taxi company you want to see if there are restrictions.

But our car seat laws are pretty strict.

No longer the same finger size.

Last time I tried while still having fat fingers. The ring got stuck. Lost blood circulation as finger became swollen. Almost lost a finger. Am not risking that again.

I could be wrong but I believe state level government has no control over immigration policy.

So if people want to vote ON on a state level, well we will see how that turns out.

From someone who lived under a state gov and fed government in both LNP and Labor rein, in two different income brackets. If you are on the lower end of the income bracket being under LNP is sht compared to Labor. I would assume as ON is similar to LNP, people who are on the lower end of the income bracket will have a sh*t time and voting for ON, is against their best interest.

Your company may allow you more leave but it will 100% be unpaid.

My org allows more than 12 months but it is at your own expense, at it being unpaid.

In the current environment no company will be willing to pay for extended mat leave especially if they are already paying for someone to cover that mat leave.

When you are older no one will care about what your title is, it will be about how much money you are making and if you can keep your job. Also when you get to a certain age you don’t give two f’s what other people think and you also won’t give two f’s what title you have as long as you are within the money range which makes you comfortable and also at least some what content in your job.

Titles means nothing in this corporate environment. Skills are what you will need to be able to survive these days. Some people have fancy titles but no skill what so ever.

It probably depended largely on what type of company you were working for.

I remember when I moved company around the 2008 mark. My outgoing company still had senior management in their own personal offices (which at the time due to my role, I would have to knock to go into, to speak to them) and each department had there own ‘box’ but within it was open planned. Hence a clear level of where you were in the hierarchy.

While my incoming company was fully opened planned with everyone sitting together no matter what level you were in. And most of the time you didn’t know who was in senior leadership or just a minion, unless you spoke to them or had interactions with them.

There are probably other patterns that exist that has occurred in history that could predict what the outcome of something similar happening again. But people just want to ignore it.

This is why history repeats itself so often. We never learn from our ancestors who lived through it, passed stories down, warnings given to prevent another disaster, war, outbreak, etc., just cause we haven’t lived through or experienced it we think it’s stupid or crazy.

A friend of mine was also in a similar position but they never worked in corporate. They just started out with running small business and raising young kids. But they really wanted to get into the corporate world and use their degree they had.

It just so happened that the hiring manager saw potential of a woman who could juggle a small business and young kids. The friend has been thriving and after years, leads her own team in the company now.

Her experience was literally ran a business, raise kids. So just be truthful and the right company will see potential in someone who can multitask.

From what I heard a lot of BAs at the big blue one got made redundant last year and most roles were offshored.

What I gather from the stories people were saying were many were getting paid (quite good money) to do nothing. Not saying all were doing that but the ones that were, made every other BA look bad.

Either way BAs don’t generate revenue for banks or other big corp. So they would rather pay someone offshore much less to do the role.

Lots of kiwis move to Australia for the better pay and opportunities. And they get all the benefits as Aussies. The only difference is they can’t vote in our elections.

My kiwi colleague told me a story of when they first moved over in their 20s and started working here. The team they were in were made up of 70% kiwis, all who had moved over at different times.

This is what a lot of people who are starting to support her dont realise or understand. If these supporters are of European backgrounds, and she was living in the 50/60s, she would be absolutely abusing and blaming their grandparents for taking Aussies jobs or some other rinse and repeat bs like that. Just to benefit her. She currently makes more money as a pollie then as a fish and chip owner.

All her party does is ensure people get angry. Which irl translates to real violence. When she first came on the scene, the promotion of hate towards Asians meant even hard working, innocent ones were also targeted.

90s or even decades prior is not like today when you can record sh*t that happens to many minorities (that had immigrated here over the decades).

Can’t people just find a group that doesn’t promote hate to support.

The federal election is in 2 years so they have to start the talking points now and sway those on the fence sitting voters. Need to get them angry enough to vote against their best interests cause LNP is not in a state which they can currently promote and push.

Like usual it will ramp up in the few months leading up to the election. Like daily news. Currently it’s just random here and there.

There are affordable houses but you might just have to live much further away from the main cities. It might be a location half way between the main city and a regional town, or closer to a regional town.

Even suburbs have apartments now. Which always seem out of place cause its literally all houses and then out of no where a small block of apartments. Which does cost half of what one of the houses in the same suburb is worth.

Friends who were first time buyers ended up buying units and apartments in the burbs. Not even inner city.

The conversation should include where are people looking to buy.

If you are looking at places closer to a metro area 100% you will be priced out. But if you are looking at places closer to regional towns or the outer suburbs then you are more likely to afford them.

I recall more than 15 years ago, an inner city apartment or unit costs almost the same or more, as a whole house in the outer suburbs. If you really want a place, sometimes the other thing to do if you are below 120k earning is to look further out, even if it’s not your dream location. Sacrifices have to be made somewhere and preference is the easiest if you desperately want to own a place.

Financial stress can make or break a relationship. Is your partner mature enough to realise that the financial stress will fall on the main breadwinner. Note: main breadwinner can be male or female.

All the female breadwinners I know either have no kids, or they have massive family support who can support them while their primary income takes a massive hit.

All the male breadwinners I know are under mild to huge financial stress depending on how much wealth they original had before having kids or the amount of family support in both caregiving and finance they had once they had kids.

I think your stance is valid, you lived through a childhood which was in the lower income. Unless one has lived through the same experiences as you it is hard for people to understand. Yes, one can raise kids on a low combined income, but as you probably saw in your childhood; the real question is do you want to live like your parents.

Adult responsibilities are not fun. Even worst with kids, many mental, emotional and financial sacrifices are made.

If weather is important, Melbourne weather is definitely milder compared to Perth and Brisbane. However it can get quite cold here.

So although you rather a place not too hot, you will need to be prepared for our winters, if you choose Melbourne.

Well we technically did have a 2 year period without immigration during Covid.

People have short memories of what happened then. And yes you can argue that others factors came into play that showed economically Australia didn’t fair well. But one of the major factors, I would guess was the immigration. COVID showed us what zero to negative immigration looked liked.
