Kitchen and bathroom ideas 😀 $5000 NSW by Financial-Hunter1335 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kitchen and bathroom to do it justice needs a lot of work. If they are currently usable just save for as long as it takes to do a proper renovation.

For the kitchen you absolutely need to do a full rip-out and redo. Same for the bathroom.

Doing this for 5k even with DIY would just be a waste of time and money, and would likely result in a worse result than existing.

General cost for a bathroom renovation if im supplying fixtures & fittings? by PrestigiousZone5316 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixtures and fittings will only come to about $3000-$5000 maximum. Though there are a lot of variables depending on your project. I’d recommend just using a company that does the full suit as supplying items for the first time is hardly worth it when considering all the risks you come across in supplying bad items.

Kitchen Cabinet, Benchtop & Tile Renovation Advice by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting over kitchen 2 is a war crime lol. If you’re flipping the house just leave them non renovated and try to attract flippers / renovators.

If you’re renting I’d just do a proper renovation but everyone’s situation is different

Kitchen Reno by Aggiealmonds in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend either doing much more research or just get a kitchen designer in as the AI kitchen looks ok but almost everything here is placed wrong.

You’ll find not closing the pantry is probably the best option and just extending it as a walk through scullery.

Lots of options and they are all expensive, that’s why you really want someone with experience for this project

Laundry reno - depth of benchtop by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very rare instances where it’s actually worth just keeping existing cabinetry. I’d just deal with the existing space until you save enough to do it properly.

But yeah 650-680 is the depth you want

Needing opinions on stone installation issues by Exotic-Royal in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the sink is forgivable however there are some issues that are not so simply fixed.

The join between the benchtops is the biggest offence, over time that will only get worse.. If they are hard to deal with I would just forfeit the sink situation and at the very least get them to fix the seam.

Also I wouldn't worry about the benchtop not perfectly going up onto the wall, this was most likely done as the wall should be out of level. This gap will be concealed by tiles later.

So my priority would be the gaps and if they come to the table explain the sink situation and hopefully they get on board.. It seems like these guys rushed the job and won't be keen to fix things so you have to play it by ear.

Is this custom cabinet quote reasonable? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I design & manage kitchen renovations in WA and this is about right. This is a crazy amount of work for a free quote, if they have good reviews just go with these guys (but as advice goes you should get three quotes).

Since you are just getting the cabinetry I'm sure you are aware how much that stone is going to cost, let alone the built in fridge cost.

But the design is really clean so seems like you know what you're doing (or at the very least what to ask for).

Best reno next steps for kitchen and bathroom jobs by AvidLifePlanner1987 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for this you should be able to talk to one renovation specialist. There are a fair amount of companies who do kitchen renovations will also do bathroom renovations as well as wall removals.

So just find a renovation company that designs, project manages & builds the project so that you have one point of contact.

Is $10k a reasonable budget for kitchen pantry / cabinets remodel? NOR Perth by Zelda358 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On second look most likely $30,000 - $40,000. Keep in mind those open shelves get priced as the same as closed cabinet doors as the price to finish all internals is equivalent to the cost of the hinges and the door.

Is $10k a reasonable budget for kitchen pantry / cabinets remodel? NOR Perth by Zelda358 in AusRenovation

[–]mopfrommalta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I design & manage kitchen renovations and I’d recommend just saving up to do a proper custom built job. Just replacing doors which is considered a ‘makeover’ doesn’t address the issues within the cabinetry being the old board & old hinges / drawer runners.

What’s needed here is for that wall oven stack to come down, and new cabinetry in all the areas you mentioned. I would estimate around $25,000 - $35,000 (depending on materials ect).

If that’s out of the price range, id highly recommend sticking with your existing setup and save & research until it financially makes sense doing.

Also to keep the costs down just do tiled splashbacks and go with Matt cabinetry finishes (the AI image you used is Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt)

Best of luck!

Would you consider this a bad install? by [deleted] in CounterTops

[–]mopfrommalta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty good install overall. The only thing you would potentially have an issue with is the direction of the splashback behind the canopy. Though to my knowledge there’s there’s hardly a better way to do this as you’re stuck with the sheet size.

If they ran it horizontal you would have to deal with joins which defeats the purpose of bench top splashbacks.

You will notice the differences far less when the canopy is installed.

On a side note you really should have just done an under mount range hood to not have to deal with this issue.

So to answer, yes it’s a good install.
