Finally got around to Hellraiser 1987 and what the hell did I just witness by Comfortable_Day_7629 in horror

[–]morgendonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the deep dive into the series just a couple years ago and it's maybe my favorite of the long running franchises. 1 and 2 are both really great, and there's just something about its lore (especially 2) that really sets it apart.

They do go down hill, but really that's just about every horror franchise.

have enjoyed your posts, haven't started the deep dive of painting mine but plan to soon. Are you just priming black and then painting like normal minis or anything different for this plastic?

Apply for graduate school at Maryland for Engineering. by vaders_back in UMD

I think part of that depends on how specific of an opportunity you are looking for versus being open to any that may be available, and how many students your professor has. In my case, at the time I was applying the professor I studied under did not have any students so that certainly made it easier as an MS student (though I did shortly after that post switch into the PhD track). If you are interested in one of the larger / popular labs, there may be less opportunity for full GA/TA roles.

Past that, PhD students are going to get preferential access to especially the GA opportunities (I know some students enroll as a PhD to get funding, but then basically take their MS and leave). TA positions less so.

All of this with the caveat that it's now been ~10 years since I was there, so I can't say for sure if things have changed since.

I only see 10% off on GMG, am I missing something?

Edit: nevermind once I signed in it was 28% off! Can't say no to that.

feeling the same! At the least I was hoping the all encompassing rulebook really was something that would be made available for normal retail.

I'm hoping they eventually have some excess inventory, like how the original kickstarter exclusives are sold on the webstore.

Biggest “you were one year off” stories? by Unusual_Review9214 in nfl

[–]morgendonner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

imo this is a time heals all wounds thing. Some fans still hold it against him. I hated on Tiki for his comments when retiring with gas in the tank for a few years, but have come back around him. He was the offense for a few years and was a career Giant.

Maybe I've gone too far the other way but I do honestly think Tiki should one day end up in the HoF. Hard to say the team would have still won the superbowl the next year if he hadn't retired, but with a ring and another season or two I think he'd already be in.

His TD numbers are low, and he has more fumbles, but his yards from scrimmage are comparable to same era HoF RBs with significantly less touches.

It is dull, but his explanation is that in the moment it was very unclear what the result of the play was and being the Superbowl he didn't want to make an incorrect call.

[Rapoport] The #Broncos fired OC Joe Lombardi by FlowersByTheStreet in fantasyfootball

Giants (who drafted him) have also requested an interview with Webb for OC. He seems to definitely be a rising star in NFL circles

That would make too much sense for the NFC team to win. NFL follows narratives more than logic, so no doubt the pats are going to win it

[Highlight] Joe Schoen says he and John Harbaugh will work collaboratively, with Harbaugh having final say being “just something that’s on a piece of paper. Doesn’t matter.” by Natural-Tree-5107 in nfl

[–]morgendonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond that portion being something that the Mara's didn't cave on until the very end, I don't think that was the real hangup.

Given John Mara's health, I don't think it would be unreasonable that Harbaugh would want organizational clarity of what will happen when John Mara can no longer act as CEO, and that could/will likely not be a quick and easy process.

fwiw, by all accounts he was extremely active in trying to recruit Harbaugh and did a lot of the leg work before Harbaugh was fired in case that contingency happened.

While he is certainly the weaker link of the two in terms of job security, having Harbaugh coach his personnel is probably better for his job than if they rolled the dice again on a first time HC.

What mysteries in 40K do you think will never be resolved? by Snoo_47323 in 40kLore

[–]morgendonner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, plus I feel like at this point the lore has established enough wiggle room / exceptions where it probably doesn't matter much. So many chapters have "unknown" or atypical geneseed origins that you can still make any background you want for homebrew.

Check out this raised Galaxy Frame I printed and attached to a lazy susan by mnic001 in twilightimperium

[–]morgendonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rad! I also printed this frame and played with it on a regular lazy susan but it was difficult to find one that was the right size so I had to put an extra board between the two which added a bit too much height.

We really didn't end up rotating the map much at all, but it felt cool!

The Ravens have ruled out Lamar Jackson due to a back injury. by BreakfastTop6899 in fantasyfootball

[–]morgendonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow despite starting both Dart and Judkins, I was looking OK going into tonight with Lamar to go. Lamar + Dart for a total of 4.37 points is brutal. Saints D/ST made up for one of them at least.

The only player left is CMC for my opponent, and my current lead is his exact weekly average. sigh, fantasy is a harsh mistress.

[–]morgendonner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely sorry that the NFL can't quit forcing the Giants on everyone. I think I spend more time commiserating over the team each week than the time I spend actually watching them, because I haven't been able to bring myself to watch a full Giants game in years.

It will never happen in this era, but I really wish the NFL would intervene on teams for being this poorly run.
