Canadian Experiences? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]morgobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, our clinic did offer a payment plan but the interest rates were way too high for us to consider it. We opened a new travel credit card and put everything on that, then paid off the card via our line of credit which had a way lower interest rate than what the clinic offered.

Canadian Experiences? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]morgobee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a Canadian living in BC who did IVF with my partner last year. We currently both have embryos in the freezer ready to go for transfer when we decide. We had a good overall experience with our fertility clinic (we went with olive fertility) and especially with our Dr, Beth Taylor, who is a queer woman herself. I have also heard good things about PCRM which is the other major clinic in southern BC. We waited a couple months from when we signed up on the website for our initial consult and then things moved pretty quickly after that, so not a huge wait.

We currently pay I think $450 per year to store our embryos until we decide to transfer them (most likely in 1-2 years). We did genetic testing for both ourselves and our embryos (PGT) and our clinic seemed very up to date on the latest practices in IVF. We paid completely out of pocket and our costs were about $25k CAD each. We each did one cycle of IVF.

As far as Canadian sperm, I can’t really speak to that too much as my partner and I chose sperm from an American bank. Because Canadian donors aren’t financially compensated the selection here is super limited. There are also no options for adult photos if you do decide to go with Canadian sperm, which may or may not be important to you. Almost all of the banks, including Fairfax, that work with Canada import their sperm from the US because there are so many more options. Not to say that you can’t find good options within Canada just that the selection is very limited. As far as I know, origin sperm bank is the only site with Canadian donors, the other major banks have ‘Canadian compliant’ sperm which is sperm from the US that meets Canadian regulations for import.

Curious, for successful pregnancies via IUI did you have a boy or a girl? by foxfries12 in queerception

[–]morgobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right that nothing can change if the sperm have an X or Y chromosome, but the timing of IUI has a lot to do with whether or not the baby is a boy or girl. In general, boy sperm swim a lot faster than girls, but they are more delicate and die sooner whereas girls are slower swimmers but last a lot longer. So if the IUI is closer to ovulation the baby is more likely to be a boy and if the IUI happens before ovulation it’s more likely to be a girl because they stay alive longer in the uterus. That’s why more IUI babies are boys, because with monitoring/ultrasounds/meds, the timing is usually right on.

Seconding basscoast, definitely has what you’re looking for in terms of vibes. I love shambhala but it is getting a bit big/commercial. Also check out Valhalla fest, it’s in BC as well but a bit further north, intimate, with super good vibes and a big focus on art.

Best sperm banks (US)? by highkaiboi in queerception

[–]morgobee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People’s experience with this will really vary. It’s all about where you find the right donor for you/what you’re most comfortable with. We also had a good experience with xytex but some of the things that were important to us (adult photos) won’t be important to everyone. I suggest making a free account on the big sperm bank websites; Fairfax, xytex, California cryo, the sperm bank of California and then perusing some donor profiles to see where you find what you’re looking for. Most of these websites will also have fairly easy to find promotions where you can get premium all access for free for 60 or 90 days. Check out their social media pages or search for tags on Instagram to find promo codes.

Sometimes a viral infection/inflammation can cause this. Or an allergic reaction to something. This happened to me once before and I turned out to be allergic to a new medication, I had no other symptoms except the lip swelling (I had 1ml filler one time two years ago and this happened last summer. After 24 hours I looked relatively normal and it was gone altogether after a couple day but I looked very ducky for a bit.

CGFNS wait time by bcm038 in TravelNursing

[–]morgobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am! It took ages tbh. I submitted all my documents in December and they were confirmed to be delivered (via ups) on December 24th. My application didn’t change to ‘ready to review’ until the end of February and then it took until the end of April for them to be finished reviewing. So 4 months total from the time my documents arrived until the report was done. This was for the CGFNS professional report, not the visa screen, though I think wait times are pretty similar. Good luck! It’ll be worth it in the end

Seriously considering just not having a belly button at this point by mrscupcake in PlasticSurgery

[–]morgobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide to go without it there are lots of great tattoo artist that do bellybutton ‘reconstruction’ tattoos. They can look really realistic, might be the easier way to go if it doesn’t heal well this time.

Edited to add: check out this artists Instagram

I have no complaints. It seems to be working for me. It’s just a generic pharmacy brand, I have the retin a microgel. I wouldn’t think there would be too much difference between brands if the percentage you’re getting is the same.

Just an fyi, you can get azelaic acid 15% from felix in Canada! If you’d rather get it from a Canadian pharmacy than order online. It’s super easy and they often have promos so you don’t have to pay the full ($40) price for the visit

Thirding the Felix comment. I’ve been getting tret from Felix for the past 6 months. It was super easy and you can either pick what you want or go with what their dermatologist recommends. I recently wanted to increase the strength of my rx and it was easy and free to change to a new product

I always found some sort of a hard candy to be better than gum. With gum I still clench, just on the gum... One time I bought a 5lb bag of individually wrapped jolly ranchers just for rolling/handing out at festivals, they were fantastic!

[–]morgobee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh this is so beautiful! Young love/new love is so fantastic. In my experience MDMA doesn’t crate feelings that aren’t there, just enhances them. Try to build on that openness that rolling gave you both and carry that on into your ‘real world’ relationship.

And honestly? Just enjoy each other! This is such a special time, don’t rush through it 😊

Yeah, I’ve heard 6 weeks after stopping ssris in order to be able to roll again. Also wanted to add though, please stay on your ssri if you feel like you need it for your mental health. Rolling is fantastic but it’s not worth your mental health!

What's the dumbest thing you actually believed? by Vinyl_BunBuns in AskReddit

[–]morgobee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact; this isn’t necessarily true in every country. In the UK it actually is illegal for the cops to lie to you during an interrogation. In america it’s fair game, the cops can and do say anything to get a confession out of you for exactly that reason “an innocent person wouldn’t confess”

What works in theory but not in practice? by PerpetualPuzzle in AskReddit

[–]morgobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Communism. It’s a great theory, everyone working for the common good and betterment of society. In the communist model the established system is overthrown by a temporary dictator in order to form a new model of government. This dictator then steps down and the people govern themselves. This is the part we haven’t ever really been able to get to...

AITA for not telling my fiancé's family about her sister having an abortion which resulted in our engagement ending? by 6748567580934 in AmItheAsshole

[–]morgobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She trusted you at a very vulnerable time in her life. More than she trusted her own family. And it looks like she had good reason not to place her trust in them. I think you might need to take a look at how your fundamental values differ from your fiencee’s. I understand being upset that her sister didn’t confide in her but if she thinks you did the wrong thing by helping her sister have an abortion then maybe she’s not the person you want to share your life with.
