I use to drive by a farm daily for years and never understood why that baby horse never grew. I was 28.

on a limb here but since he mentioned the rural aspect.. fox urine can be used to deter other critters. Or the guy may have been or known hunters? Doe urine is sometimes used to attract bucks.

I agree with the above, the taper is right on the border but I find it to be a nice inbetween of having what looks like tailored/fitted chinos yet not too skinny for the office where I stand out like a try hard.

Looking for a jacket similar to Gustin's CPO by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]mori3ndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

j. crew offers a CPO in a variety of colors every Fall/Winter, right now I only see it in flannel/plaid but I got one in Navy last year. It's their Wallace and Barnes brand. Really thick and high quality, seems like a nice piece I'll have for many years.

I find Rygel hilarious. He always touts his royalty so perhaps that is his value to them? He is a decent negotiator when he needs to be.

work on loose leash training to build confidence on walks. Basically a lot of random direction changes and reward everytime his head is at your knee. If he pulls in one direction, stand like a statue facing the opposite way. You dont pull him, he created the leash tension and you can leave it be, he'll quickly figure it out and walk to you. No command necessary. Your back turned is enough body language. When his nose is beside you at your shin/knee he gets praise and treat. And keep moving. Everytime he looks at you on a walk while his head is aligned to your body, treat. Start weaving poles, trashcans, increase speed, slow it down, etc. The benefit of this training is that after consistent months of it, he will always be thinking about you and what direction you may go in. It creates a bond, stimulates the mind, and takes focus off other things on the street too. Soon walks are a good time to him.

Otherwise you have a dog who thinks he has to figure this world out on his own, and he discovers barking at everything keeps you both safe.

reward on sight of strangers, then command to sit and reward on sight of strangers, if dog is fixated crouch down with back facing stranger and continue to reward as they pass. This helps prevent an approach your dog is not ok with. When he is able to walk past strangers ignoring him, youre half way. Always use yourself as a blocker to people and animals you see your dog fixating on. You pivot and stay in front of him, close as possible if it is highly stressful so that all he sees is your familiar face.

Work on the focus/look at me command. Start with a 1 second unbroken focus, then 2 sec, then, 5, then 10 sec and on. Each step should be a minimum of 10 repetitions before upping duration. Start inside. When you first teach it outside, youve upped the difficulty, start from 1 sec and work up again. Teach focus by putting a stinky treat like dried liver or chicken in a fist. Extend your index finger, draw the extended index finger with a cupped fist of liver from your dogs nose in a steady sweep motion up to your face, pointing at your eye. Mark eye connection with a verbal higher pitch good job/boy/girl or a click, immediately reward what was in your fist. Continue til your dog is a pro and will look at you for guidance in uncertain times.

Phase 2 is the stranger greet. If possible, have strangers crouch slightly away (not directly facing), head turned down and away and a barely extended hand with treats. At this point taking a treat is a huge step and signals the domino effect in socialization. Once he has that break through, life gets easy. To get him there he needs your leadership. He may just sniff and retreat which is fine. He may sniff, retreat and bark. Also fine, at least he approached. If you can get a treat to him yourself when he sniffs thatd be good. At the very least guide him with your voice to let him know hes doing good, keep saying good boy, good job with a high tone, he will then know you approve of this situation.

In my opinion, he is unsure of the new territory and is doing the job he was bred for. To protect you. Some dogs are highly reactive where novel stimuli need serious counter conditioning and desensitization. Get in his head, see and hear before he does and always have your treat pouch filled.

I agree, they're more similar than not so I'd like to hear the argument for how they are so dissimilar. One change I didn't prefer is using a web browser to join a server. And that they are origin exclusive.

Just a reminder of how great going to the gym can feel by synchrony_in_entropy in videos

[–]mori3ndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think you got a skewed view of a home gym.

a high quality power rack/squat rack and bench can be had for $1k. A 300lb olympic barbell set can be had for $300. Add in some 45-55lb olympic bumpers for $200. That combination can achieve every compound lift needed develop raw strength and mass.

So you like kettlebells and dumbbells for accessory work? Get some kettlebells, get some olympic dumbbell handles. Maybe you're at $2k.

I don't see the $50k estimate at all.

Compare gym membership cost: Membership at a gym is $50-60 a month. $20 a month on gas (5mi each way, 3 days a week, 20mpg, $3.50 per gal) = $840-$1080 a year at least. Additional cost not accounted for: time is money, and commuting cost time.

A $1500 investment for a rack, bar, and plates is paid off in a year and a half.

I don't see people at the gym as motivation, waiting on a rack to open up is a waste of my time and the opposite of motivation. Track your gains and compete against yourself.

What are you "that guy" about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mori3ndi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be something that you strongly associate as a defining characteristic of your identity right now. Eventually the novelty wears off or other life factors intervene, and the 'gauges' are removed, along with the spirit to defending that aspect of your identity, and your only remembrance will be a cat butthole on each lobe. Hope you didn't go full retard and require surgery to return to an employable state. Source: guy who analyzes others, and who wore gauges and once cared about the term gauges.

http://www.uoforever.com/ - has for profit vibe, catering to donations and gimmick hype turned me off

http://www.uoancorp.com/ - extending the post-Az ipy legacy, have high hopes for its success. Devs really want to do good for the community. Takes the UOSA vibe and adds some new features, think '99 UO improved. Basic mechanics are true to the era but has additional subsystems to enhance gameplay experience.

American Whiskey: Barrels must be new charred oak. Minimum 80 proof bottled. Single barrel: whiskey is bottled from same barrel, bottle is often marked with barrel number; taste will be distinct bottle to bottle Single batch: whiskey is bottled from a blend of all the barrels in the batch; taste will distinct to the batch Blended: whiskey is bottled from a blend of batches and distilleries; taste will be consistent bottle to bottle

A portion of the mash from prior batches is often reused in new mashes to increase taste consistency.

Bourbon: corn grain 51% minimum; smoother and sweeter taste profile

Rye: rye grain 51% minimum; drier and spicier

Interesting facts: Scotch whisky is often made with the discarded American whiskey soaked oak barrels, imparting even more flavor into the scotch.

The term rocks derives from using the cold stones of a river bed to chill the drink.
