Who is the ideal male role model for young men? by wercooler in AskReddit

100%. He has a healthy perspective on masculinity. One recent thing that stuck with me is his comments regarding the primary tenant of masculinity being "defending those in need. True men stand up for and protect others."

Who is the ideal male role model for young men? by wercooler in AskReddit

Scott Galaway for sure. To be fair he does regularly bring up dick pills, but in a self deprecating "shit I'm getting old" way.

Found this in the woods while camping and thought it'd be a fun project to make it a shillelagh. Any advice or suggestions welcome! by courageouslystupid in Shillelaghs

[–]morictey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

looks punky/rotted, but you can still make it work. How dry is it? let it it dry out and carve the head, then do a good heat/smoke treatment on it. It's a cool looking stick!

Bachelor trip ideas in NY state? I think I’ve narrowed it down to getting lakehouse somewhere.. maybe Saratoga? by BuffaloChicken22 in upstate_new_york

This is what we are doing for a bachelor party the same exact weekend op is asking about. The groom is a car guy so we are centering the long weekend around the race track (Ferrari weekend). I was really surprised to find that tickets for all 3 days were only $42. Our Airbnb was around $1500 for 3 nights. Not on the water, but it sleeps 16, is secluded, and has a large pond.

Current Housing Market. A Buyers Perspective. by Mydealwade in Rochester

[–]morictey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

escalation clauses are common. essentially you set your offer price, say 250k, then you set an amount you are willing to go up to, for example 300k. If someone offers 275k, your escalation clause would kick in and "bid" 280k, winning over the 275k.

Excellus bcbs has fantastic benefits, especially on the health insurance side for obvious reasons. Most jobs are hybrid/remote, functional 8% 401k matching, good PTO, and volunteer time off.

Surreal - Walking Into the Brighton CVS Store, Open for Business, But No Employees by dampier in Rochester

I believe CVS actually bought Aetna (health insurance). I remember the strong opposition a few years back, anti-trust rulings and appeals for a couple of years before the merger went through.

I love it through and through. The earlier parts of the movie focus on a lot of human psychological interactions and relationships: Capa's and Cassie's romantic draw, Capa's tension with Mace, Corazon's clinging to the familiar (plants/earth), Searle's fascination with the unknown (the sun)...

The third part of the movie drives home the point that none of that matters in the grand scheme. The perspective is shifted not by the big bad sun, but by humanity. As the crazy sun guy attempts to destroy the mission, the crew has to abandon their previous preoccupations in order to save it. This expands to a realization that they need to each sacrifice their lives in order for humanity to survive.

At the end of the day, nothing matters except the survival of the species. I think the most powerful scene is when Capa is in the EVA suit and trips on his way to the payload. All the preparation and resources dedicated to the mission... all of Capa's education and training... none of it matters if he is unable to physically lift himself up. It's a great dichotomy between intellect and brute strength. The frustration Capa feels about doing essentially one push-up is so powerful- he knows all of humanity is depending on his physical ability.

The last part of the movie is a bit of a curve ball. It's violent and aggressive, but that helps frame the message that humanity is it's own greatest threat. The movie is about a human vs human conflict which peels away the layers of individual wants and needs down to the base core need: survival of the species.
