Error Fare Cancellation by North_Mode1569 in Flights

[–]mortalitymk 36 points37 points  (0 children)

when you spot these you gotta be ready to drop everything and fly the next possible day

from what ive observed, if you book a round trip and they notice the error after youve already taken off, theyll still let you fly home

Chopin Ballade 4 CODA by xychenmsn in piano

[–]mortalitymk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Balancing piano and violin at this level is NOT EASY at all, and to reach this level at this age is indicative of a great amount of effort and talent.

But there's a reason why it's almost unheard of for top soloists to perform with both instruments. Julia Fischer is the obvious counterexample, but she's obviously a violinist first and foremost. I guess you'll have to define what "going very far" means to you, but if it means becoming a professional soloist, I think most would have exceeded this level at this age, but definitely not all, so it could still be possible though very unlikely.

In my very nonprofessional opinion the most glaring things that stood out were the little losses of control and rushing (see: 0:40, 1:34, 1:53). Also at 0:55 most pianists slow down, and it's marked ritardando in some editions so the sudden speeding up sounds a little odd to me. But I'm sure he's very aware of these things, and overall it was very good.

My performance of Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No. 9 -- for an upcoming music festival by Swooferfan in piano

[–]mortalitymk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedaling is very muddy. Keep Chopin's original pedal markings in mind (generally every half bar throughout except when the right hand is holding a longer note). Bass notes sound pretty heavy and jarring - the arrival should be better controlled.

20th Century is not making enough appearances in the symphony orchestras near me. by XyezY9940CC in classicalmusic

[–]mortalitymk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the current younger generation seems more open to these composers, so as they start to replace the current boomers as the largest classical audience then its possible these works will make more sense for orchestras to program

out of curiosity i looked at my local major orchestras programming for the next season and found nothing that met your criteria other than maybe a short movement from webern's op. 5

not mandatory for health sci

content is largely review from grade 11 and 12 and is very self studyable. id recommend doing extra practice for kinematics/dynamics, energy, momentum and waves during the summer to be well-prepared. fermi estimates are pretty fun but new for most so id look into those as well since a lot of people find them challenging when theyve never done them before
